221 A crack (2)

"It isn't your place to question me about what happens between me and your mother. The woman is dramatic-"

"She is not. You can lie to me about anyone else but not my mother," Liam replied. This wasn't some stranger they were talking about. "She's normally always smiling even when she has to hear us speaking about fighting. She puts up with all the men in the army walking around the land, yet the only time she seems down is after your visits."

"Liam," Grant warned.

"Grandfather," Liam answered.

It was something Liam noticed a few times but after a recent visit from his grandfather, he had caught his mother looking a little troubled. Tessa always said that Grant was a man who liked tradition so they should ignore the things he said as he meant no harm but clearly, he was causing harm.

"Do you not like her? My mother," Liam said, wanting an honest answer. He had kept his brothers and father out of it until he spoke with Grant.
