CHAPTER T H R E E

Rory sat like a good girl on the sofa while eating the cupcakes the chef had made. She still didn't know why she was here, and who the scary man was.

Augustus sat in front of her talking about his son who was a few years older than her. His name was Amir Hendrix and he was 7 years old. But Lorelai wasn't excited at all. The only thing she was thinking about was Mary. Rory missed Mary so much and she was so scared sitting in the office not knowing anything.

Augustus could see that Rory was worried about something. So he tried to explain the whole situation to her even though he knew that Valdemar would get mad at him.

"Rory, do you know who your papa is?" Augustus asked her.

"Papa?" Rory tilted her head. She knew what papa meant, but she was told that she didn't have a papa.

"Yeah, do you know who YOUR papa is?" Augustus tried again. Rory shook her head not knowing what to answer.

"Augy, are you my papa?" Rory asked Augustus. Augustus was shocked. He should have let Valdemar have this conversation with her.

"No, but you're close I am your godfather" Augustus explained to her. But explaining such a big thing to a 4-year-old is almost impossible.

"Who is my papa then?" Rory looked at Augustus with her puppy eyes. Augustus didn't know if he should tell her or not but decided it would be best if he told her.

"Rory's papa is the scary black-haired man" Augustus replied.

"He is my papa?" Rory smiled. Sure she was still afraid of him because of his deadly look, but knowing that she had a papa made her happy.

And as soon as she said that King Valdemar opened the door to his office looking almost dead. He was exhausted by the torture Victoria made him go through.

"Papa!!" Rory stood up and ran towards the king. Valdemar was beyond shocked, had Agustus told her about him? Of course, he had with his big mouth. The king glared at Agustus who was now white as the snow.

The king walked towards Augustus with murder in his mind, while completely ignoring the princess as he was too busy trying to choke Augustus.

"Before you kill me let me explain" Agustus tried to defend himself.

"You have 20 seconds to explain or else you're dead" The king threatened Agustus.

"She asked who her papa was after I told her about Amir Hendrix" Augustus lied. He knew he would be dead the second he told the truth so he lied.

The king looked at Rory, did she really ask that? did she know what papa meant? the king thought.

"Rory?"

"Yes, papa?" Rory smiled responding to the king.

"I am not your papa" The king corrected Rory. He didn't know what to do with her yet, therefore he wouldn't make a false reality for her.

"You're not my papa?" The princess looked at him with her puppy eyes that could melt everyone's heart.

"Yes, he-" Augustus tried to answer before the king interrupted.

"Augustus one word more and you're dead" Valdemar took his sword out and pointed at Augustus.

"But Augy told me that you were" Rory frowned.

"Augy?" The king repeated after Rory almost sounding jealous.

"yeash" Rory nodded her head while she giggled.

"Well aren't you a happy-go-lucky child huh?" The king knelt to Rory's height. When he suddenly got flashbacks.

"Aren't you a happy-go-lucky woman" I looked at her. "I'm just trying to live my life as happy as possible" She smiled and giggled. We were in the city where we weren't supposed to be. It was past midnight, and I wasn't allowed to be out here alone with a stranger. "Do you know who I am?" I asked her to see if she could recognize me. "Well of course you're prince charming aren't you?" She giggled. "Prince charming? seriously" I laughed.

The king snapped back into his senses again. How could he be so stupid and think it would be alright to have Rory by his side. He would only end up remembering the dead he thought to himself.

"Augustus get her out of here" The king ordered his best friend.

"What?! no why would you say that!" Augustus refused.

"Get her out before I kill both of you" The king shouted.

Augustus lifted Rory while cursing under his breath. Why did he make Rory excited only to make her leave? Augustus thought.

Rory didn't know what was happening but hearing the black-haired man shout made her scared and she began to cry. She couldn't understand anything why was he shouting at her?

"Shhh it's alright princess, we'll go to your house again" Augustus comforted the princess. Soon enough the princess fell asleep in the arms of her godfather. Augustus remembered the last time he had held her like this. It was when she was born. He had a soft spot for her mainly because he was the first to hold her when she was born, but also because she was his best friend's child.

Augustus walked towards the house where Rory lived. He knocked on the door and waited. He could hear people crying and quarreling.

The door opened and as every made saw the princess they all felt like weights had been lifted off their shoulders. It wasn't because they were afraid of what the king was going to say when he found out that they had lost the princess. But because they were genuinely afraid of what had happened to her. They all treated the princess as their own daughter.

But they noticed the royal guard symbol on Augustus' robe and suddenly their moods all dropped. Why was the princess with a royal guard?

"Don't look so shocked we found her on the other side of this house" Augustus tried to calm them because he could see that their face was white as the snow.

"She's a lovely girl," Augustus told them before he walked away.
