"Hey there, Alex! You ready for this?" her dad asked, as they stood on the sidelines of the University of Texas football field, the sun beating down on them.

"Ready as I'll ever be, Dad," Alex replied, her eyes fixed on the lush green grass, her mind racing with thoughts of the journey that had brought her to this moment.

"I know you are, kiddo. You've worked so hard for this moment. I'm proud of you, no matter what happens," her dad said, placing a hand on her shoulder.
