3 Analysing the Legacy

During the night after Tsunade decided to take Shiki back to Konoha, he could be found thinking alone in his own room.

'We decided to stay in town one more night so I better take the chance to try and check the spoils of the Gift of Legacy since they had me stay in another room by myself, I don't really know why, but it suits me just fine'

'Hmm . . . The information should be already in my mind so let's try to meditate on it."

As Shiki attempted to focus on his mind, a information slowly started to surface detailing all that he received.

'So lt's see, innate talents first . . . Resilient constitution . . . check, enormous lifeforce . . . check, powerful and abundant chakra . . . check, Adamantine Sealing Chains . . . check, advanced sensory abilities . . . check. Whoa! I'm totally stacked! let's try and check the two innate abilities out.'

'First, let's try this . . .'

As he focused Shiki sounded out in his mind.

'Mind's Eye of the Kagura'

The suddenly Shiki's surrounding started to become clear to him despite him having his eyes closed, he could sense Tsunade and Shizune in the room next to his and soon he could sense the entire building they were on but, no matter how hard he tried, that was the limit.

'Guess I need more time and training to "see" further. Let's try the Adamantine Sealing Chains next!'

'Adamantine Sealing Chains'

". . . ?" 'Uhh, I feel tired but nothing came out, well I guess even though I have talent, I need actual training for that to make a difference, Lastly let's check the Uzumaki library of Knowledge I should have received . . .'

After a light browsing Shiki was stupefied.

"Holy f*cking Sh*t!" 'Oops shouldn't speak out loud, but seriously, no wonder they were ganged up on and massacred! Although there are some basic shinobi training methods and a lot of useful seals for formations, security, restraining and so on there are also a bunch of soul based techniques that violate the perceived sanctity of the afterlife or more like gangr*pe it!'

Soul Gathering Seal: Traps the souls of the recently deceased but can't hold them for long.

Soul Summoning Jutsu: Uses a portion of an individual's flesh and blood to summon their soul from the afterlife.

Soul Sealing Pot: Drawn of a container made of chakra infused clay to hold captured souls.

Soul Reading Jutsu: Read the memories of a captured soul (memories may be fragmented depending on the circumstances). Can also identify the natural abilities and general personality traits of the soul, this ability can also be used on those still living.

Soul Binding Seal: Bind a soul to an object or seal (a very effective way of empowering any other sealing jutsu)

Soul Refining Seal: Refine a captured soul over time, cleansing it from memories and emotion, turning it into a Pure Soul to be more useful for other jutsus. Refine a multitude of souls into a stronger one (refining with drastically different characteristics provokes imbalances that may compromise the resulting soul).

Soul Substitution Jutsu: Sacrifice a refined Pure Soul to negate any damage including death.

Soul Burst Jutsu: Sacrifice any quantity of souls to empower the user and all their techniques.

Soul Melding Seal: Meld a refined soul into the soul of the user, over time the user will gain all of the innate talents possessed by the soul, talents acquired after birth are not acquired by the user and gifts gained must still be developed through harduos training otherwise they will not reach the magnitude of the original, the seal can only meld seven souls to the user's and once a soul is introduced it is permanent.

'This alone would be enough for the whole world to fall on top of the Uzumaki but I assume the majority of these jutsus were never revealed to outsiders namely the Soul Melding Seal would have cause a colossal storm, possibly bigger that all the great ninja wars. The Soul Summoning and Soul Binding Seals might have been used or at least referenced by Tobirama to create the edo tensei, although the Uzumaki tried to develop similar jutsu from what I can see, they never succeeded.

But the best part is the techniques involving the Shinigami, it appears that in their efforts to understand and manipulate the soul, my ancestors managed to contact the Reaper itself creating a jutsu that was only successfully used once before in the distant past.'

Reaper Contract Seal: Use of this jutsu will bind the user's soul to Yomi becoming unable to go to the afterlife or Pure Land after death. Warning: Should the user's soul be lacking, the jutsu will fail and the soul will be claimed by the Shinigami.

'This jutsu is the key, if the contract is successful one will be able to gain incredible power but I guess I can only find out the specifics of that power if I take the contract . . .

There is also the question of morals . . . Once I go down this road there is no going back, If I give in to the temptation once, I will surely do it again . . . F*ck it! I'm in a world where might makes right and I have the means to become more powerful than anyone, screw morality, I'm gonna do it! I'm sure Yami-sensei would be proud of this choice!

Swiftly deciding to throw away the remains of his already lacking and corrupted morals after a very brief struggle, Shiki moved on to more important matters.

'Well I've got some ideas on how to use these broken skills, but the more powerful ones have high requirements so for now at least, basic shinobi training is the way to go, even if no one wants to teach me I've got the basic training methods in my head already so all I have to do is follow them.'

'Beyond that, I need to learn the Shadow Clone jutsu as soon as possible, as that will drastically reduce the time needed to learn all the stuff I've got from the legacy, the Soul Gathering Seal and Soul Sealing Pot being my first priority after all if I manage to complete them before the Uchiha Massacre takes place I'll have a whole lot of Uchiha souls to work with.'

'But damn! It truly sucks to be an Uchiha, not only will they be slaughtered by one of their own, instead of going peacefully to the afterlife after dying, their souls will become the toy of of a morally corrupt child truly what an injustice . . .' Thought Shiki with a sigh, as if the morally corrupt child was not actually him.

'That's enough for today though, better get some sleep before morning comes!'

- Next Morning -

"Shiki-kun, time to get up! Shiki-kun!"

"Uhn? What?" Shiki got up still sleepy and slightly confused.

"It's time for breakfast get ready and meet me downstairs, I must still go to wake up Tsunade-sama."

'Uh I hate the morning, still I must change these habits if I'm going to thrive in this world.'

As he opened his violet eyes the first thing Shiki saw was Shizune's kind smile.

'I could get used to waking up to this!' And so eloquent flattery spilled from his lips.

"To wake up to such a beautiful smile, I'm blessed indeed!"

Shizune's smile became a little wider and a slight blush graced her cheek as she continued.

"Shiki-kun, you really are good with words, flattering someone as soon as you wake up, where did a child like you learned this I wonder?"

"Oh please Shizu-nee, it's not flattery but the truth straight from my heart!" Shiki countered.

"Well, I'll take your word for it. Come on get ready. I'll see you downstairs." Shizune relented.

"Got it Shizu-nee, see ya!"

As Shizune left the room Shiki started putting on his new clothes, black shinobi sandals, black pants and a black shirt. Yes he really liked the color black.

Leaving his room, Shiki went down the stairs to the reception of the inn.

'So this was an inn, makes sense considering they were traveling.'

As laid his back onto a wall, Shiki began waiting and a couple of minutes later he saw an exasperated Shizune drag an uncooperative Tsunade over. Shizune the called out to shiki and they went and breakfast at a nearby stall.

After they ordered and sat, Shiki asked a question to both kunoichi.

"Is Konoha very far?"

Shizune promptly answered.

"Not really, we're still in the Land of Fire after all, a couple days of travel and we should get there."

"Okay, thanks Shizu-nee" Shiki replied.

As the food arrived, after Shizune stopped Tsunade from ordering sake to accompany the food, the trio said "Itadakimasu!" and dug in.

And having finished their food, they were on their way.
