Training Begins! (1)

On the outskirts of Musutafu City, a large three-story stone building stood tall with a multitude of children playing in front of it. It was your average school afternoon where many teenagers were heading home from school and adults were just getting off of work.

Although they were on the outskirts of the city, many people still lived out there so the 'bustling' aspect of it was always there. A few nuns stood on a balcony of the stone building looking down at the children with warm smiles on their faces.

This was the Nakamura Orphanage, the place where Sinan was sent to be taken care of during his childhood years. The authorities chose this location because it was close to a police station which meant that Sinan could be watched just in case anything happens as some of them were still suspicious of the nature of his survival two years ago.

Some say he was just plain lucky, but most have come to the consensus that there was some foul play involved. Especially since the man, the 'villain' that removed Sinan from the convenience store was dead and his brain was found to be completely destroyed in the autopsy.

The young boy in question, Sinan, wasn't outside playing with the kids on this lovely summer afternoon. No, he was in his room, sitting cross-legged on the ground meditating on the force while a basic training lightsaber, the last gift the god gave him, floated in front of him. He was currently in the middle of deciding which 'side of the force' he wanted to focus on first.

'The light side of the force, or the dark side. Both are mindsets...intentions that dictate the abilities and methods one chose along their path to power. The Jedi and Sith, the two most popular factions that employed the respective 'sides' of the force. While it would be easier for me to start with the dark side because of my sith blood, I'll start with the light side, the opposite of my personality.'

The light side of the Force, also known as Ashla, was one of two methods of using the Force. The light side was aligned with calmness, peace, and passiveness, and was used only for knowledge and defense. The Jedi were notable practitioners of the light, being selfless servants of the will of the Force, and the mortal enemies of the Sith, who followed the dark side of the Force.

The light side of the Force was selflessness. Its Jedi practitioners lived in the present, clearing their minds, letting go of their consciousness, and listening to the Force, acting on instinct.

Clearly, from the actions Sinan took after a few minutes of him being born in this world, he wasn't someone who had the required traits of being a traditional Jedi or following the light side of the force. At least, he couldn't follow the usual interpretations of those aspects.

'If the 'light side of the force' is associated with selflessness, peace, calmness, and passiveness, then wouldn't me putting the will of Tyr, the god of conquest, first before anything else, including myself, make me selfless regardless of his goals?'

A dim glow appeared upon his body as his understanding of the force grew bit by bit. While Tyr, the young man who sent him here gifted him with all the recorded knowledge present within the Star Wars universe, Sinan never gained an understanding of it.

The force was something different to everyone who delved deeper than just the basic aspects of 'Good' and 'Evil' or 'Light' or 'Dark.'

It was something one had to find within themselves.

Something that emanated from their very souls.

It was the true desire of a person that couldn't be hidden or falsified by any means.

'If I find peace in domination, serenity in subjugation, joy in destruction, will the light side reject me? If I am void of fear, anger, rage, greed, pride, passion, and I submit to a will greater than myself, the force and my master, then I shall be free from the dark side, no?'

Sinan slowly got up from his cross-legged position but he kept his eyes closed as he was still in meditation. His short blonde hair moved slowly in the slight breeze that came through his bedroom window as the glow around him got a bit brighter.

'No, that might be wrong. If my actions only benefit myself and I give in to the emotions of greed, anger, and possessiveness then I fall. As long as my actions benefit something or a duty that I perceive is greater than myself, be at peace with my actions and submit myself to the force, then I could be seen as a practitioner of the light.'

Without opening his eyes, Sinan grabbed the training lightsaber in front of him and activated it, revealing a yellow blade. He then turned the lightsaber horizontally to the left and stationed its hilt just under his chin.

This was one of the basic Jedi teaching methods. It was named, Control. It usually taught Jedi initiates to open their minds to the Force and establish a base point for further development.

The theme of Control was centered on the ability to control one's own body, as self-control was the starting point for all Jedi teachings. Development of these skills would continue throughout a Jedi's life, as the basics of all other disciplines of Force use began here.

Of course, this didn't mean that Sinan planned to follow the Jedi code or its teachings on philosophy, their knowledge was only a means to an end.

One of the most well-known side-effects of mastering the discipline of Control was prolonged life and the avoidance of decay, which would greatly help Sinan in the long run.

More importantly, the specific technique of Control that Sinan was practicing was called Center Of Being. It was a stance that was used in lightsaber combat but it could also be used for meditation, which was exactly what Sinan was doing now.

Thus, he continued with his task. After an hour of staying in the same position while debating with himself about his philosophy on the light side, he suddenly opened his clear, pastel blue eyes and retracted his lightsaber as he looked out of the window.

The glow around him didn't change at all in the past hour which contrary to what one might expect, just made him more focused and determined.

'This is not an answer I can come up with within a day, a month, nor a year. I need experience. Only through trial and error can I gain a true understanding of the power I wield. And with experience, comes wisdom.'

Sinan inhaled deeply and then exhaled, causing the blinds around him to flutter a bit.

'Stay focused, Sinan. As long as I maintain my focus, I can overcome any task.'

A look of determination appeared in his eyes as he got into a certain stance in preparation to practice the first and the most basic form of lightsaber combat, Form I, Shii-Cho.
