Flashback Failed

YEAR 2025

Several fighter jets flew through the dense rainforest at the Amazon forest.

The primal tribes below were still deep asleep in their dreams.

Some who have just woken witnessed the fight ongoing over their heads.

Two of the fighter jets behind opened fire towards the front, and accidentally cutted down some trees.

Some of the branches and logs destroyed the tribe's houses, but they couldn't do anything. They merely shook their heads in dismay at the sight of their village's destruction.

"Take cover! Take cover!!" shouted the village chief in primitive language. Yet his effort was proved useless under the thundering suppression caused by rapid fire.

They originally lived in the forest but were forced out to reduce the risk of getting impaled by branches blasted by bombs from above.

Five of the federations jets were chasing the remaining strayed coalition jets in the forest as the two avoided the enemies attack brilliantly and fortunately, they still hadn't shaken them off for a whole hour.

And their spare fuel only can support them for another 15 minutes of flight, and so they quickly think of a new plan for extraction.

But just as the 5 fighter jets were about to close in on their targets, a giant tree suddenly appeared in their way.

Unable to avoid it in time, 2 of the 5 jets smashed into the three while the remaining tree just missed the giant tree's branches harrowingly.

"Fuck, what was that?!" One of the surviving pilots asked.

"A tree!"

"I can see that, you dumbass!"

Unshockingly, there were no survivors left in both jets crashed into the tree flying at them.

"Captain, your orders please!" The 3rd surviving pilot suddenly spoke up.

They were clearly having the advantage over their targets yet all of a sudden, a giant tree appeared and killed two of their comrades.

"Something must be in this forest, Sir…And we might have provoked it. Do we still continue to chase or return to base to report our losses?" the 3rd pilot continued.

"We need to get them today, no matter dead or alive." said the commander anxiously.

"If we go back empty handed especially against two fleeing foes, we're dead meat!"

"Stay alert of your surroundings. Your trainings aren't going waste this time"

As the remaining enemy reported to the commander, he didn't realize that one of the jets had already made a counter maneuver and get on his back, still yet to realize it.

He just heard a quick beeping sound from his jet, realizing what happened at this moment, he could do nothing as he has no flares left and screams: "Oh fuc–"

Kaboosh!

"Alan! No!" The commander had tears flowing down his cheeks as he witnessed his brother in law die before him.

As he was mourning for his brother-in-law's death, a man with three stripes plastered on the left side of his shoulder knocked on the door once before he turned the handle and entered the room.

"I'm sorry for your loss, Judas. But, the General wants you at the ship's helm immediately. There's something you should see…." The captain patted his commander's back before he left him in silence.

'Ah…My brother in law just died yet now I had to report to that emotionless bastard of a general. FUCK!' Judas's heart was in turmoil as he suddenly thought about his decision back then to drag his innocent brother in law, Alan, to join him in the Air Force.

First Alternate Line [Main Line]

YEAR 1995

"Commander Judas, please report to the ship's helm within 3 minutes. The General would like to have a word with you."

Flashback failed.

Seeing that even a short trip down memory lane was impossible, Commander Judas sighed dejectedly as he made his way down to the ship's helm.

Along the way, his initial gloomy mood disappeared as he kept on reminding themselves that they were currently at war.

'There's no time to feel sad for a measly death, we're at war!' But his lips couldn't help but quiver whenever he recalled that memory of his brother in law exploding right before his eyes.

For something that was written half heartedly in a discord channel, the story may actually work...
