I knew something was off the minute I couldn't feel her under my arm, Maya was a heavy sleeper. She doesn't wake up unless she's having a nightmare or hunger. My mind immediately went to the nightmare part. When I got up, I didn't expect to see blood on the bed, that's when the second alarm went off.

Seeing blood didn't affect me, it was something I've been used too since I was fourteen. But seeing blood that belongs to Maya was different, it was something that I can never get used to. She probably started her period, my brains tell me. Not wanting her to feel more embarrassed, I started stripping down the bedsheets.

Taking the stained sheets into the bathroom, expecting to see her there. But it was empty. I dumb the sheets into the laundry basket, I will tell Mika to just throw them out. Exciting the bathroom to go look for Maya, that's when the third alarm went off. Bloody footsteps were leading out of the room. Every bone in my body froze.
