Team Work Makes The Dream Work

Out of the darkness, two pairs of eyes came into the fray. A very large gray dog slowly walked up to the team, its mouth salivating to its new meal that came into its den to be slaughtered.

Damn, I thought it was a wolf, Thomas said with a hint of despair.

Isn't a very large dog better to contend with than a very large wolf, Nicolas said with contentment.

.

The dog suddenly began running towards them, glaring at Nicolas who stood in the center, between Father Joe to his left and Thomas to his right.

Thomas quickly shouted, he's looking at you Nick. In two minutes, get him to the wall of the mountain pass, where I will be.

Thomas, quickly ran backwards from the team and then towards the walls of the mountain pass.

As Thomas ran off, Nicolas heard Father Joe begin an incantation for a spell.

.

The dog jumped off the ground and was about to pounce on Nicolas when a wall came before them as Father Joe had finished his magical spell. With a movement of his hands, Father Joe unleashed his protection spell.

"Light of the Aegis!"

.

A wall of magical light illuminated the mountain pass as it brought a barrier between them and the dog. The dog shook its head after having hit the wall from its first attack. Then engaging in successive bites, it continually attacked the magical wall in an attempt to break down.

.

On the side of the mountain, Thomas navigated up the side of the wall, to a place that would allow him to jump off easily. When he was ready, he shouted to them that he was ready for them to bring the dog to him. Thomas quickly pulled his crossbow from his backpack and prepared himself for what he was about to do.

.

Father Joe looked at Nicolas and said, "It is time to run to Thomas."

The two started running to Thomas and as Father Joe got further away from the barrier, its structural integrity fell until it came down giving the dog the opportunity to pursue them. They quickly made their way to Thomas location.

Thomas was now upon a ledge as they ran towards him with the dog in pursuit.

When they were close to the side of the mountain pass, close to Thomas, they turned to face the two headed beast that was already upon them. At that moment, Thomas jumped into the air and unto the large beast which startled it.

Thomas quickly grabbed some of its fur with his left hand and with his right hand which still gripped the crossbow, he strategically fired arrows into several locations, of the dog. There was a click and then arrows flew into the beast as the barrel of the crossbow spun.

'Several arrows flew into the back of the neck and also behind the heads.'

The beast shook at the pain and also at the man that stood upon it. In a frantic attempt it tossed, turned and shook its body until Thomas lost his grip and was tossed off in the direction of some dry bones.

The rib cage of a deceased animal stood upright like spikes to impale anyone that fell in its direction. Seeing what he was about to fall upon, Thomas positioned himself for the fall, with intent to minimize the damage that would be caused by the protruding rib cage. As he was above the bones, he heard Father Joe's voice as Father Joe cast a spell upon Thomas....

"Gift Of The King!"
