Chapter 1

A/N : Before you read my novel, i just want to warn you, English is not my first language, its not even my 2nd or 3rd language, so there's definitely Will be a grammar mistake or sentence that hard to understand, but i'll try my best to make it atleast readable. This novel probably not gonna have much action scene since i abd at writing it. I also open to any criticism, if its make sense ofcourse. The reason why i write this here is, somehow i can't edit the synopsis. idk why. Anyway, please enjoy.

Do you believe in ghost? Do you believe that there's something other than human in this world? If yes, then, congratulations, you are correct. They are exist.

But rather than ghost or 'something that not human', we call them irregular. Why? Because they originally not belong in this world. There's something that should've been go to after life but remain in this world for some reason. There's also something that come from another world into this world. See? They originally don't belong to this world. That's why we call them 'Irregular'.

Who are 'we'? We call ourselves "Owls".

You know that Owl didn't make a sound when they flying right? We also hunt our prey without sound, in this case, without no one knowing. Why? Because their existence should not be revealed to the public. If public know about their existence, they Will become stronger and Wilder than it should be. Ofcourse a lot of people believe that there's a ghost in this world, or being other than human in this universe, but 'believe' and 'know' is different. Remember? If public 'know' about their existence, they Will get stronger and Wilder, and in the end, they Will attack people and kill them, or eat them.

Believe is when you accept something to be true, but there's still doubt in your heart about the truth. Are they really true? Are they really exist? Are they talking the truth? Are they lying? Etc. There's still doubt in your heart but you try to accept it, that is what believe are. Atleast for me.

But 'Know' is different. Even if you didn't believe it, even if you don't want to believe it, but you know they are true, they are exist. You don't want to believe it but you know about it, you know the truth, and that what make them become stronger and Wilder. The more people know their existence, the more it become dungerous.

What if people accidently know their existence? Well, simple. We erase their memories. Fortunately, our organization have a special tool that can erase someone's memories. Well, rather than tools, it's a video. The video can effect the brain and erase specific memories of something. We just need to show the video to the target and said what kind of memories we want to erase. I know it's dangerous if its fell to wrong hand, thats why the tools already set so only the owner can use it. And there's no way the members of Owls Will use it for crime. I'm certain about it.

I can't explain how the video works because i don't really know how, and i don't know what kind of video it is because when i watch it, my memory about it Will disappear automatically. So no one know what video it is except the creator.

My name is Atris Aqua. There's people who call me Aqua, there's also people who call me Atris, but mostly people call me Aqua though. Personally i like being called Atris, but if you want to call me Aqua, it's fine.

I'm sure you already know, i am one of many members of Owl.

Well, even though i call it 'organization' i don't know how many members that this organization have, or who is the leader/bos of this organization.

"By the way, Atris, do you know Doppelganger?" The person who ask that question was a girl with long black hair with some part of her hair is blue and green eyes. She sat on the sofa while watching TV. In her hand was a cup of coffee that I made.

Her name is Charla Hall.

"It's two people with the exact same face and body right? Like your double. And when the two of you meet, one of you Will disappear. What's about it?"

"Yes." She sipped her coffee, "You see, there's a case that happened in my highschool." And she sipped her coffee again.

"Your school if I'm not mistaken is Future High School right?"

"Yes. I just heard it from a rumor, but it seems there's student in my school who act differently from her usual self."

"And you suspect that the cause of her change of attitude is because she is a doppelganger?"

"Yes."

"But why you believe the cause of it is because of doppelgangers? There's also another possibility right? Like puberty."

"We know that is not the case." She glare at me.

"Okay okay, you are pretty but you are also scary. So?"

"Yes, there's also another rumor that her friend, the doppelganger's friend, meet her twice in different places.

"Let's call the doppelganger's A, so it Will not become confusing.

"It's not suspicious enough if its just that, but the problem is the time and distance. She meet the exact same person, in a different place, on the same day, but the distance of the place A, where she meet the first one, and B, where she meet the second one, is close to each other. It's not even take 5 minutes from point' A to B." She rub the cup with both of her hand, and then drink the coffee.

"And after that, when they meet at school, A start to act differently. At first they didn't mind. Maybe A just in a bad mood. Maybe there's a problem on the A's house yesterday. Of course she try to ask A because she is worried, but A just said 'i'm okay'. She try not bother it because sometimes people just need to be alone when they have a problem. But the strangeness keeps going. When they on class, A suddenly stabs her hand while smiling as if she didn't feel the pain. Because of the blood, the whole class was shocked for a bit before they brought A to the infirmary. When the teacher ask A why she did that, A just said 'i'm okay' and nothing more.

"That's not the end. A few days after that, when the friend out for walk, she coincidentally met A, sitting on the sidewalk facing a wall and it seemed like A eating something. When she approach A and take a look at what A was eating, she was shocked. Because A eating a rat.

"Well, what i heard is just a rumor, but we know this is not just a rumor."

"So you want me to investigate it?"

"No, I want 'we' to investigate that case."

"Hahaha…" i laugh dryly, "Well, we already past this 'you should not involve with this kind of case' phase, so i Will agree with that."

I'm get up from my chair and take my cloak and my half-tophat.

"So, do you know who and where this 'A' is?"

"Her name is Liss Parker. Her house is near our school, but it seems she hasn't come home since yesterday."

"Then first we need to search where she is right now, huh. Well, let's go."

"Also, why do you have that tool which can erase people's memory but you don't have some kind of radar that can locate 'their' location? They should have something like aura that different from us, right? Using that, can you guys make something that can track them?"

Hearing that question, I just made an awkward face and said, "True, but I also don't know."

"That's why we are always late and when we arrive, there's already victim involved."

"Okay okay, at least we prevent it so there's no further victims. Also, there's no point to discuss this matter further, let's just do what we can do right now."

"But that's not enough…" she said with a low voice. Her face also show a sad expression.

I know why she sad. I know the reason why she's eager to save everyone without any victims. But that's impossible for now.

I patted her head and said, "Come on. There's a case that we need to solve, right?"

She just nodded and then put the cup to the table in front of her.
