Chapter 1:

"Ren!" Cried Kennie as he desperately tried to force the ship out of light speed, "we can't jump out of it!"

As Kennie was fiddling around with the numerous wires that tangled together under the control panels, Luciel dashed back into the room, sweat falling from his forehead and he gasped for air. Currently, the Janus crew were in a serious predicament with so many things on their ship going wrong.

"Ren, Marcus says he can't get the communication back up." He yelled as the alarms were still blaring across the ship. The echoing sounds of the warning alarms reverberated across the metal ship as each crew member tried their best to fix one of the several problems, "what should we do?"

His eyes scattered across the room as he furiously tried to find something - anything - that was working and could help them. With Marcus down in comms, and Kennie up near him dealing with the uncontrollable issue of travelling in light speed, Ren decided to haul Luciel from the bridge and towards the navigation room.

"This is broken too right?" He asked, earning a small nod from him, "can we at least fix this? So when we leave light speed, we'll know where we are."

Luciel hesitated his response, not wanting to worry his friend any further.

"Luciel?" Ren asked, "don't tell me it's also unfixable."

"Well..." He trailed off, "it's not unfixable per se, but more like, missing a piece."

Ren cried out a sigh as he turned around and banged his head against the metallic wall a couple of times, mumbling over and over again how terrible everything was going and how he wasn't taught how to deal with this situation.

"But-but," Luciel hastily added, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder, "it seems to be a simple fix for Kennie. Once we get the part, it'll be an easy repair."

Ren stopped banging his head against the wall, instead, flattened his chestnut hair as he leant against the wall, forwards. Sighing slightly, he partially nodded, accepting the fact that all they could do is wait for their ship's light speed energy to run out and force the ship out of it.

"Ah! There you are!" Marcus' voice quickly erupted from the down the corridor as his sweaty ebony hair stuck to his forehead, "Ren. Kennie said that we should be able to jump out of light speed in a few minutes."

Finally, a glitter of hope sparkled into Ren's eyes as he dragged Marcus and Luciel from the navigation room and towards the bridge. The three rushed into the bridge and instantly saw Kennie lying back in his seat.

"So? Update?" Ren stated as he leapt into his chair.

Kennie spun around to face his and with a confident smile across his face said, "give it a minute and we should successfully come out of light speed."

Sighing with relief, Ren nodded and awaited for Kennie and Luciel bring the ship out of light speed. It took a moment, but they suddenly felt the sharp force of leaving light speed hit them. The reassuring sudden sensation relaxed the crew for a split second before the realised once again that they are currently lost in the middle of, hopefully, the milky way galaxy.

"So... What now, Ren?" Luciel asked, spinning around to face him.

Ren, glancing across the window before him, spotted something that he believed to be a nearby planet. He swiftly pointed towards it and stated, "there. He'll head to that planet first and asked for help."

"I don't think that's such a good idea, Ren," Marcus replied, leaning back in his chair, "we don't know where we are or the situation of any of the planets nearby. Plus, we've lost contact with Earth and the other ships that were sent out too."

"Well, it's not like we can just float about in space and hope for the best." Ren retorted, "we'll be sitting ducks since our communication and navigation systems are both broken."

"I'm not saying that it's the better option," Marcus stated, turning around to face Ren, "I'm saying it's the safer option."

"Safer than actually going onto a planet to ask for help?" Ren stifled a chuckle at Marcus' logic and proceeded to say, "I think the chaos might have knocked a couple of your brain cells out of your head."

Ren started to stand up and impose on Marcus' personal space, which really irritated the older male. Everyone on the ship knew about his stubbornness of keeping out of the way of each other and maintaining personal space, especially Ren who continuously tested Marcus' patience whenever they got into an argument.

Marcus stood up too and backed away from Ren, not wanting to get too close to him, and as they circled around the bridge insulting each other continuously, Kennie was close to laughing from the scene.

"Shouldn't we intervene?" Luciel asked, nudging Kennie with his elbow.

Kennie mumbled a giggle as tears pricked in his eyes from the terrible insults being thrown between the two, "probably," he managed to cough out, "but this is too amusing, especially after the problems we just had."

The two, older, males continued to pace around the room, each taunt getting worst and worst the more they threw. Luciel had concern flooding his eyes as he began to believe that his closest friends were about to break apart and the crew were going to need to split into separate groups. Marcus, contrary to Luciel, was having the time of his life watching the amusing display of entertainment his crewmates were able to present to him.

"I just-" Luciel quietly said, "I just think its-"

Not another word was spoken as an unexpected development occurred. The vents from above them came crashing down into a pile of dust and metal scraps right onto the floor next to Ren's chair. Fortunately enough, Ren and Marcus had been far away from that section and neither got hit by any falling shards of metal. The sudden crash caused even Ren and Marcus to stop arguing and the four crew members patiently waited for the dust to subside and present the mystery reason for the destruction in the vents.

"Ow, ow, ow." A fairly young, masculine voice echoed from the cloud of dust and metal, "that wasn't planned."

"Hey," Ren called out, fanning away the floating dust and trying to spot a face, "what're you doing on this ship?"

Eventually, the dust subsided and the four crewmates were able to see a young lad with fairly long wavy blonde hair and jade eyes sitting in an uncomfortable position in the middle of all the metal plating. The mystery man was about to stand up and dust himself off when an abrupt sharp pain rushed through his arm. Tightly clutching his arm, the lad jumped to his feet and with a confident and not-at-all-suspicion smile, greeted the four men.

"Who in the world are you and how did you get on this ship?" Kennie asked, amazed and bewildered by the fact someone sneaked onto their ship without them knowing and managed to remain unnoticed for the past five days.

With his hand still tightly gripping his aching arm, he smiled and said, "you can call me Chronos."
