THE INEVITABLE HIM

A one night stand with a White waitress in a club was all it took to make him. He had no father but an owner he had. He owned him..turned him into the demon he is now. At the age of eight, he killed the humanity and love he had. "To make you strange and a worthy successor. I don't need any weakling." Akim always roared at him. The day he died the Devil got a free ticket to leave South Africa for good. Revenge from their rival Mafia gang was not in his plans. He wouldn't shed the blood of his people. He needed the for something better. To build a legitimate global empire. He worked his ass of to be a better version than Akim had in mind. He would own it all, by any means necessary. The world wasn't fair so don't blame him if he stumbled on you in the course of fulfilling his plans. You needed to keep up to be able to work for or with him. He had a family, though not perfect, the gang always had his back and so did he. At the age of twenty -six, Lucifer as he was popularly known by his close men was the most eligible bachelor, and the youngest richest business man in the country and beyond. He said it and he did it yet, there was always something else to do. Something better. He might be crazy for wanting to conquer the world, but that was his plan. Lucifer was never the type to run, he never backed down....and though a tiny part of him wanted to, he couldn't. His demons were part of him. He was his own devil. The part of him which thrilled at the site of violence and smiled at the pains and fear in the eyes of others strived and dominated his soul. He wanted out but who was he kidding, his demons were his source of power. Power, which sucks humanity out of him. Lucifer had made his name in the Europeans countries, but he felt that there would be much profit and a fulfilling tap into the culture of Africa which would in no doubt be a jackpot for him. He was a business man and so knew his fact. Africa....he dreaded and loved. He was sure of his target..where else but Ghana..a foreign environment. He was yet to find out that Ghana would give him the encounter of his life.... Kara, popularly called Nana is the "unwanted" bastard of the Agyemang family. Her mother Esther got pregnant with her white boyfriend during her college years overseas. Her mother came home with a baggage instead of the promised degrees. Being the daughter of a strict African home, ones thought would be to disappear for good and bear the shame alone. The family frowned upon her actions, turned their backs on her and was disowned by her father. Single handedly, with help from her uncle, her mother raised her to become a typical Ghanaian child. Even with her fair skin and brunette hair...she was in no doubt a Ghanaian by actions. Many often got confused yet her calm nature and respect for every custom of the society irrespective of it's flaws made her Ghanaian. Kara lived her life like a story being told. She drew her plans from the moment Uncle Kwesi sat her down and told her of the story behind her birth and why she didn't have a father or a large family. She knew who her father was. At least she had a picture of him, a picture shut away. She was satisfied with having her mom and uncle in her life. They enough for her, she convinced herself. Nana's greatest fear is repeating her mother's mistake...Don't get her wrong, she respected her mom immensely, she was by far the strongest woman she had ever know. That didn't change the fact that she would like to write some of her wrongs. Nor did it change the feeling which ate her up all the time...She was an accident and that was something that even she couldn't make right. Being the child of a single mother in a Ghanaian society, there was a lot to do and not do. No matter the amount of wealth, the society would always see you as the daughter of the unmarried woman and hence, you are required to put in much effort to everything you do. Kara wanted her mom to know n feel that her birth was her biggest achievement

CHAPTER 4: The Glance 1

"Catch!!!" Paro threw the ketch up to Kara as they both sat on their mini dinning table. They lived in one of the most nicest apartments in Boston. It was quite a luxury for Kara. She didn't have the needed money to afford her own apartment being a college student but Paro Kapoor could. Her parents owned many designer bags, clothes and shoes in Indian and across the Asian countries. Before meeting Kara, she lived alone in one of the most expensive apartments in Boston. And then she met Kara, who was in need of her own place. She didn't want to overspend her welcome at her aunt  Cara's place. A white lady who was her mom's college best friend. Yes, she was named after her. Aunt Cara had her three teenage kids and husband who was one of the nicest person she had met in her life all in the same house. No matter how attentive they were, she always felt like an outsider. She had been with them the first semester of her first year. Studies were great, so a part time job would cause no harm. She had reasoned. She made them aware of her intention to rent her own place. But getting a place near Harvard was no joke. Aunt Cara wanted her to be close to them. " Try and stay in Boston Nana". She said. Funny enough, she was good with Twi accent. "Nana" slipped easily from her lips effortlessly. During her second semester, she met Paro. Their meeting was nothing special. Paro happened to have dinner with her parents at the restaurant where she works. That was just it. They found themselves in the same college. Different courses but same school. They became friends and Paro wanted to help her new friend out. Kara completely objected to the idea of of staying with her in "that expensive apartment" as she put it. She wanted to earn her stay not live off her rich friend. To solve that, Paro moved to their current apartment. Nice, cute , feminine, but enough for them to split the rent and bill. She would be lying if she thought the rent she paid monthly was  even half of the actual price. She made up with the groceries but even that job was taken up by Paro's protective parents. For some reason her parents liked the idea of their only daughter and only child being with Kara. One of the reasons why Kara can never path ways with Paro  was because Paro over the years has become a second daughter to her mom. She entertained Esther with her excess calls. She was just amazing. The girl could live with anyone because she never acted like a spoilt rich girl.

"Ho...ho... There, you are doing it again". Paro, pointing an accusing hand at Kara interjected her thoughts. Kara shrugged innocently. " What....what I'm I doing ". She bit on her sandwich. " Smiling to yourself "ti s3  gyemifo)"....yh like a fool". She spoke in Kara's native language. Kara dropped her jaw open as particles of her food fell straight onto her plate. Paro laughed hysterically almost choking on her meal. Her eyes lit up with a sense of achievement. Kara wiped her mouth with the back of her palm. " You know what, sometimes I feel like you only pay attention when I'm teaching you how to insult in Twi. Why do you always test it on me...erhnnnn..why?" She exclaimed, getting off her chair.

Paro quickly rushed out of her seat to avoid any paybacks from her friend. Kara smiled at her friend who had rushed to stand on the couch as if that would even save her should she decide to take revenge. Instead she took both their plates, dump them in the sink and left the tap on to soak Paro's food knowing perfectly that she wasn't done with her meal. "What the heck!!" Paro screamed. Kara shrugged and headed to her room. "I'm just showing the level of my stupidity. Rate me girl".

Lucifer visited his quarters in Boston. He was overly bored with the project that was being presented by the director as he sat relaxed in his seat. What did that guy do with his time. He spoke as if he was satisfied with the the sales and of the company and there wasn't any job to to do. Hell he would rather throw his money to the dogs than to give them to shitty human  beings to spend on their so called dependants and themselves. Hakeem had left to gather the boys up so he decided to check the meeting out and not just wait for the report at his head quarters which was in New York. He flew from there in the morning just to get business in Boston under control. Gently, but loud enough,  he interrupted the meeting by hitting his knuckles on the table creating a rhythm from it. He sat majestically looking gorgeous in his Dormeiul Vanquish  black suit and of course always adorned with a Rolex. Every head, eyes and attention turned to him. Lucifer didn't look so happy. He leaned forward and folded his flawless, beautiful, masculine long fingers together on the table. "Wipe that satisfied look off your face. Do I look pleased to you." He smile, a smile so devilish filled with humor at the same time everyone shifted in their seats. Darius, the Director of the company stood still and immediately turned off the power point projection.  Lucifer continued in the same monotone. " You don't need me to give you a lecture on why you shouldn't look, feel or be comfortable with our current 1% decrease in sales. REFICUL DESYGNES has never lost a 1% sales in a month..so fix this. You can't use this crap which you have wasted my ten minutes time on to do that. Darius, fix it. You have seven days!!!" He glared at Darius. "Yes sir" Darius replied to which Lucifer gave a quick nod. He got up and straightened his suit. Before leaving, he added in a more relaxed tone. " You are all in this. Seven days, send a worthy solution and you will get your salaries increased. Fail to solve this , be ready to clear your desks". He walked out, gently closing the food behind him. He always did a good job in leaving every place in entered in a state of anarchy.

Kara locked the door to the apartment to leave for her night part time job at Rienners. One of the most luxurious restaurants in Boston. Because of her studies she always took on the night shift. She would leave at 7:00pm and return home tired at 2am. She was good at her job. She had been working there for almost three years and was one of the most reliable waitresses. She had even declined a permanent job which paid well there. She didn't want anything be it her job to disturb her studies. She often got  tipped by generous customers who enjoyed her service. Many guys on countless occasions tried to hit on her. She however always offered friendship and with others she made them acquaintances. Nothing beyond that. Who was she kidding, her only friend was Paro and it will remain so forever. Rienners was always a busy and tonight was no different. She greeted the guard, her two buddies and made small conversation with them before entering. Dan and Mike always helped her to handle strangers who try to disrespect her or harass her. She changed into her work attire which was a knee length black pencil skirt. She felt tight in it." Gosh, I need to get a new one." She muttered. The shirt came with a creamy blouse  which had a vertical zip bringing from her naval to chest covering her cleavage. She tied her waist length brunette hair into a loose ponytail. Two strands fell into their usual positions, on her soft cheeks.
