Chapter 24 : The Corruption Case and Connections Across Worlds

Princess Won Mee sat across from Arnab, eager to learn more about her kingdom and its people. She had always been interested in the inner workings of the government, and Arnab had proven to be a valuable asset in that regard. As they chatted, Arnab couldn't help but notice the various mechanical trinkets scattered around the room. He had a keen interest in engineering and couldn't resist commenting on the princess's apparent proficiency in the field.

"You are an engineer of sorts," he said, pointing to a particularly intricate piece of machinery.

The princess looked at him quizzically. "Engineer? I'm not sure I understand."

Arnab quickly backtracked, realizing he may have spoken out of turn. "Oh, it's nothing. I just noticed all the mechanical things around the room and assumed..."

The princess smiled. "Ah, I see. Yes, I do have a fascination with machines and how they work. I suppose you could say I'm self-taught."

Arnab was impressed. He had never met anyone quite like the princess before. She was intelligent, curious, and passionate about her kingdom. He couldn't help but feel drawn to her.

But his thoughts were quickly interrupted when he brought up the real reason for his visit. "Princess, I must speak to you about a matter of great importance."

The princess leaned forward, intrigued. "What is it?"

Arnab took a deep breath. "The finance minister is engaged in an embezzlement scandal with a high-ranking public official in his department. They have been siphoning off funds meant for development projects, and the people are suffering as a result. I believe you are the only one who can help us stop them."

The princess was incensed. "Corruption? In my kingdom? I will not stand for it."

Arnab nodded. "I knew I could count on you, Princess."

As they worked together to uncover the extent of the corruption, Arnab couldn't help but notice the similarities between Princess Won Mee and Amisha Roy, the woman he had known in his previous life on Earth. The way they moved, the shape of their faces, the sound of their voices...it was uncanny. He wondered if the princess had any inkling of their connection, but he decided to keep that to himself for the time being.
