i really really love this book ! i was expecting it to be long but the story will be dragged that much if the author do so .. 😊😊 but even though i love this book pretty much , im still broken hearted with the ending ! its just too much for a reality 😔😔😔 maybe thats how love works !!! great one author !
OK, this is one of the very, very rare reviews I've actually written, which proves how much I love this book that I am reviewing it not for the fast past or xp, but just because I WANT to. **. There are some spoilers. At first when I started this book, I was interested because our mc, Ru is a cross dresser and the synopsis was intriguing. The first chapter was bit dark (figuratively and literally) but it introduced Ru and showed her imperfections and character instead of dawdling with world building and whatnot. In short, it was straight to the point and action. As the story progresses, we could see that Ru is someone who lives in the shadows but still likes the light (her love for desserts), then there were her dreams and down foreshadowing of her past. I'm a huge fan of both and it added a mystery element to the story which made me want more and want to stick to the end just to see the final reveal (I am self diagnosed with skip reading syndrome XD so I rarely stick with a book every chapter to the end and usually skip to read the ending). When Xiao Zhiren was introduced, I just loved his interaction with Ru and his flashbacks made me link his childhood self with Ru. Again, more breadcrumbs. His character isn't perfect too, and he isn't the normal ol' cold type or something. He's more of the sensitive puppy type who's been searching for a certain someone for years *wink wink * and his family background included more mysteries (yay!) The other characters had their own stories which is nice because some people make side characters just walk by and be funny. I am especially curious about Ru's disciple's story. SPOILER AHEAD!! The ending was just wow. Sigh. All the questions and answers wrapped up, the dark organization plaguing Ru's past was xxxxx and xxxxx died at last and Ru's heritage and past was finally revealed thank you!!! But wait. The real ending was bittersweet. I lived how the author explained everything. Love and pain and all that. In the end, it was always about pain, yet it was phrased in a way like there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but whether if you choose to stay in the tunnel or walk out of it, you will always remember the time you spent walking through the tunnel with someone else, and that you looked at the light together. I'm being deliberately cryptic and using analogies lol. Thank you, author for creating such a wonderful story. It is special and different and most importantly, realistic. It has heart and I felt every word and every dialogue down to its core. It's touching and made me laugh and nearly cry. I just love it. The ending gave me a feeling of walking through so much shadow and light and ultimately letting go and looking back with fondness. This isn't something that can be felt through reading these paragraphs, so I hope other people will read this book and feel what I feel. Lots of love and good luck, author! 💓💓💓
