3 Chapter 3: You Are My Child

Lila looking at her status is currently in shock. Hearing the Goddess of Reincarnation that she has now dubbed as Big Meanie, tell her being in this world would allow her to use magic. Lila couldn't help but to feel excited about this prospect. Being an avid fan of Anime and Manga reader she has dreamed of using magic her entire life.

But staring at her status screen right now, two big beautiful deep blue eyes are looking in disbelief at the fact that her mana , the very essences of magic itself has no numerical value.

'WHY????!!!! why don't I have any mana? Even trash MC's at least start out with 10 mana. Even if it says 0 at least that gives an indication that I can increase my mana, but to not even have the chance to increase it?' Lila cried internally as her hopes and dreams that she thought were about to come true came crashing down on her.

'Why even give me one affinity slot more then what Big Meanie said I could have if I can't use mana?

Secondly what's with the N/A for Level and Experience does everyone else get to level up except me? How Am I supposed to increase my stats? Why even have those two listed if they are worthless as well?' These were some of the thoughts going through Lila's mind as she was panicking over her status window.

After internally panicking for quite a while Lila looks at her new abilities.

[Abilities: Devourer, Storage, Inspect]

'I can pretty much guess what Inspect does as well as Storage just based off of the manga I have read. The skill I am unsure of is Devourer. What does Devourer ability do?' Lila thinks to herself.

Lila after pondering for a moment decides to use her Inspect ability on her other two abilities.

[Devourer: When consuming the flesh of other monsters host is able to gain stat points at random depending on strength of monster compared to host.]

[Storage: Able to store anything the host wishes, items stored will be frozen in time for as long as the item remains in storage. (There are no restrictions on what can be stored)]

[Inspect: Host can gain information about items. (Passive Mode (off))]

'Passive mode off? What happens if I turn it on?'

This question is quickly answered as once Lila has passive mode for the skill turned on she immediately understands what it does.

Every where she looks pop up screens appear giving Lila a description of what she is looking at.

First pop up she notices is of a rock right next to her.

[ It's a Rock ]

'Tsk'

The next pop up she notices is floating right next to her mother.

[WARNING SUPREME BEING DETECTED, DEATH IS NEAR]

'Supreme being detected? Death is Near??'

Lila, confused about this notice that keeps going off, looks around to see where the danger could possibly be at. Not seeing anyone but her mother and her siblings. Lila decides to cautiously go to the edge of the crevice and see if any dangerous being is out in the cave.

As Lila is making her way to the entrance of the crevice they live in she notices that the pop up saying 'Warning Supreme Being, death is near' is pivoting as Lila moves past her mother, so that she can only see the notice when looking at her mother.

Lila not wanting to admit to herself her mother is the supreme being her system is talking about looks out into the cave, but sees no other living thing.

She then looks back at her mother the warning still going off. Lila's tail twitches in announce.

'It seems the system is truly talking about my mother being the supreme being but why would my death be near, she is my mother. Is it simply because it's scared of her strength or does it know something about my mother that I don't?'

As Lila was pondering this predicament she felt something bite her tail, she then feels herself getting pulled back before she finds herself next to her mother. Lila's mother puts one of her front legs around her to keep Lila next to her body.

'It is not yet time for you to go exploring yet my child, you have a little bit more growing up to do before I let you or your siblings out to adventure.' Lila hears her mother speak to her in her mind for the first time.

'Wow that's amazing I can hear my mother in my mind, I wonder how that works, How can I communicate back to my mother.' Thinks Lila

'I have the ability to hear the thoughts of others. Just think about what you want to say to me and I'll hear you loud and clear.' Her mother replies.

'Oh, wow that's awesome.' Lila thinks happily that she is finally able to communicate with others after 10 days of not being able to talk to anyone else. Her happiness doesn't last very long as she comes to a realization.

'Wait if you can read thoughts does that mean you have read all my thoughts since I was born.' Lila asks alarmed by this sudden realization.

'Yes, I have, and to answer your follow up questions that I know are coming. Yes I am aware that you used to be a human and that you are from another planet. I'm also aware of your run in with that petty goddess, and what she has said to you.' Lila's mother replies, Lila can sense her mother getting a little angry as she mentions the goddess.

Lila hearing her mother say these words, her ears droop and Lila looks to be on the verge of tears as she starts to think she will now be abandoned now that her mother knows she used to he human.

Lila tries to get up to leave thinking she is no longer wanted by her mother, but is too weak under the weight of her mothers front paw.

'Where do you think your attempting to run off to. I already told you, that you need to wait until your bigger until you can leave this crevice.

Secondly, Lila I never want you to ever have such thoughts in your mind that I would ever abandon you because of who you used to be. You are MY CHILD, and I will never forsake you.

I don't know how your previous life was or how your parents treated you, but seeing how you immediately think you were getting abandoned just because I knew of your past life, id say not very well.

You are MY CHILD, and I AM YOUR MOTHER.

I love you Lila whether you believe me or not. I love you just as I love your two brothers.

I will always love you, there is nothing you can do that will ever change that.'

Lila's mother says to Lila, very angry that Lila would even think of the possibility that she would abandon her own children. Lila's mother makes sure that Lila is staring into her eyes as she is conveying these words to Lila.

Tears of joy start streaming down Lila's face as she feels something grow inside of her that she has never felt before. She feels love for the first time, for her new mother.

'Thank you for accepting me, I love you to Momma.' Lila thinks back joyfully as she buries her face into her mother's side. Lila's tail moving back and forth happily.

Lila being a new born kitten, becomes very tired very fast and falls asleep by her mother's side quickly.

'Sweet dreams my dear child, I love you Lila.'

Lila's mother tells the now sleeping Lila as she lightly touches her nose to Lila's as a sign of affection.
