Pity

"What was that about?"

"Nothing, I was just talking to her," Ivan answered.

Raising his brows, Jason remarked in bewilderment. "Woah, you were not surprised?"

"Surprised by what? Your face?"

"No, my sudden appearance." When Ivan gave him a weird look, he explained, "I mean, usually when I appear in front of you out of nowhere, you gasp and then scold me for not using the door but today—"

Giving him a weird look, Ivan frowned, "Jason did you drink or smoke something inappropriate? Why would I be surprised or gasp when I saw you entering through that window."

Widening his eyes in shock, Jason gulped, "You—what?"

"What?" he frowned.

Contemplating for a while, he shook his head. "Nothing—so why was Cynthia here?"

"She was here to take Dylon and Rylon." Pausing for a while, he asked, "Don't you think Cynthia is a bit weird?"

"Who is not? Everyone is weird," Jason chuckled.

"Cynthia is a bit more weird."

Nodding his head in agreement, he said, "Yeah, she is kinda weird but why do you ask?"

"Nothing, just a random thought." Glancing at the watch, Ivan asked, "What brings you here?"

"Finished work early so I thought I would catch up with you guys."

"Who guys?"

"You and Athan," he answered.

"Athan is coming?" Just then the doorbell rang.

"Looks like he is already here." Pouting his lips, Jason thought for a while and asked, "what do you people say when we talk about someone and they suddenly appear?"

"He is going to live for a hundred years," Ivan answered while walking towards the door.

As soon as he opened the door, Athan demanded, "Get me a beer, chilled one."

Scrunching his brows, Ivan snapped, "Get inside first."

When Athan saw Jason, he widened his eyes in shock. "Woah, how did you arrive so fast? We were just talking over the phone like five minutes ago."

"I ran as fast as I could."

"Dope—" slumping on the couch, he sighed, "Why is talking to my brother always so exhausting?"

"You met him?" When he nodded his head, Ivan asked, "What did he say?"

"The same old shit your brother says. 'Come home, it's high time. You have responsibilities' blah blah bleh—" Helplessly shaking his head, he grunted, "Sometimes I feel like just running away. Forget about that, you tell me—"

"What?"

"How was your first session with the therapist?"

"It was good?" When he looked at him with curiosity lathered all over his face, Ivan asked, "What? It was really good."

"He wants to know whether miss Therapist is sexy or old," Jason chuckled.

Pointing towards Jason, Athan proudly exclaimed, "You are my man bro."

Walking towards the refrigerator, Ivan answered, "Well, she is twenty eight years old so apparently if she is old then we are old too."

Closing his eyes, Athan grunted, "Ouch that is bad."

"Very bad," Jason sniggered.

Scrunching his brows, Ivan asked, "Why? Why is it bad?"

"Please tell me she is not beautiful," Athan begged.

Playfully smacking his arm, Jason answered, "Trust me, not only does he think she is beautiful, he is also attracted to her."

Scrunching his brows, Ivan was about to retort when Athan groaned, "Oh God, such a pity."

Not understanding why his friend and cousin were reacting in an exaggerated manner, he curiously questioned them. "Will you both tell me what is going on?"

"Don't you get it? She is young, beautiful and attractive but she is your therapist," Athan stated.

"Yeah so?"

Looking at Jason, Athan remarked, "He is dumb."

"Ivan since she is your therapist, you won't be able to socially get involved with her in any way, not even be friends with her," Joson exclaimed.

"What?" Ivan chuckled. "As if there is some kind of a rule."

"Bet my ass there is."
