31 Reconciled

"How are you feeling now?"

Chen Waan opened her eyes and found Mo Yifan staring at her in the dark room. She was spooked for a second. Confusion clouded her mind. Where was she? But then the flashes from a few hours ago started coming to her mind slowly and she softened. She had not expected him to turn up and help her out, even carrying her like that.

When she remembered the time where she was so fuzzy, a hint of blush started spreading across her face. At least she did not do anything unwarranted. Periods did mean heightened hormones. Hopefully, she was remembering clearly.

She got up slowly, her stomach feeling much better after sleeping, but still constantly paining. Mo Yifan actually came forward and adjusted her pillows at the back. Chen Waan was a bit startled but she accepted the help quietly.

"I am fine, thank you for your help earlier," she said in her hoarse raspy voice. She had been asleep for perhaps four to five hours. And she could feel her smelly breath. Ugh, needed to use bathroom again.

Then she realized that the guy must be angry with her for wasting his time. He was going to work on his songs after all. But wait, why was he in her room? Did he not feed his personal number in her phone and ask her to message him?

She definitely did not message him, so did he come to check up on her? Was he here the whole time? Or was it a coincidence that her eyes opened exactly at the time he had entered the room? Countless questions were swirling in her mind.

"Here," he handed over her a mug with ginger tea, "I heard this helps in periods."

Chen Waan was again surprised. This guy was genuinely concerned for her it seemed. Interesting! She tried looking at what kind of expression was on his face. But it was evening already and the only light in the room was the light pouring in from outside through the ajar door that Mo Yifan had left opened.

Was he doing this out of obligation? Or because he was pitying her? Perhaps he knew a lot of cases like her who experienced extreme pains on their periods. Perhaps he had tended a lot of girls like that? He was a famous movie star after all.

She gratefully took the sweet tea from him. It was perfect temperature, very soothing to her hoarse throat and aching stomach. She smiled gently and realized that the guy in front of her seemed to be wanting to say something to her. She looked at him curiously.

"When… when do you think you could teach me the phrases?" he asked, a bit bashfully. Had he known earlier how much effort she was putting in, he would have consented as soon as she had asked him that question on the dining table. Alas! He had missed that opportunity. Was his denial at that time the reason for the girl to become stressed and be in this condition? It would not be his fault right?

He was just so busy evaluating her from the negative angle, that he never looked at her positive traits. She was not clumsy, did her work diligently and was able to keep the troubles away from him in her own way. They had been interacting for a week, and she had not tried to seduce him at all.

Now he knew better, she was so busy with her studies that she did not even have time to think about it. She did meet Wang Zenghao thrice during this time, which was suspicious. Was she into older men?

Chen Waan's eyes went wide open. She had not expected such a sudden change in the egoistic guy. Did she do something wrong before she went to sleep? She did remember much of the incident, but she did not remember doing anything to win his favor.

Rather, she was thinking that she would be incurring his wrath for wasting his time. She adjusted her expression back to her calm face and replied, "I can start anytime from tomorrow. Today is a bit… inconvenient, as you have already seen."

Mo Yifan nodded. He did not want to disturb her rest, so he stood up to leave. His eyes were not as sharp towards her anymore either. Of course, he was just impressed by her hard work. He still did not trust her.

Chen Waan could not figure out the sudden change in his attitude but was thankful in her heart for working with him would be much easier now.

Of course, his schedule was going to be jam packed, since everyone was coming out of their new year mood and work was piling up. She would need to think of new strategies to help him learn more. And she would need to squeeze more time out for his lessons. She already started calculating how she would distribute the time and material they had to cover.

A smile formed on her face. She had finally started to enjoy the work she was doing. And the tension between them had suddenly disappeared. It felt much more lighter and she did not need to be on tenterhooks all the time.

Mo Yifan went out of Chen Waan's room and his lips also curled up unconsciously. He went to the dining table and poured himself a cup of same ginger tea that the girl was drinking in her room.

The tea tasted extra sweet today for some reason.
