18 Chapter 18 Resolve

Before Elena's arrival, she was in the kitchen helping washing the dishes until one of the vampire butlers came "Miss Elena, Lady Anna is calling for you". When Anna came into the castle's fireplace, Anna put down the book she was reading and she looked at Elena

"Please sit" Anna gestured Elena to sit on a chair. "Do you want some blood Elena dear".

Elena shook her head "no thank you my lady".

"Do you know why I called you Elena" Anna said this while pouring herself blood in a tea cup.

"No, my lady" Elena replied

Anna took a sip of blood from the tea cup "John hasn't been well lately; he refuses to drink blood and stays in his room all day.". Anna then put the tea cup down on the table "I know that John likes you very much, so I am hoping you can go talk to him".

Elena did not know what to say, she felt nervous "what am I suppose to say my lady".

"You are a smart lady Elena, go comfort him, further, my idiot of a husband keeps making things worse". The air began feel heavy for Elena "I wanted to kill you and that knight for not protecting my grandchild properly, then afterwards I wanted to burn that whole town to the ground, but I know my dear John kind-hearted and is not used to violence, also, he will be sad if I kill you and probably won't forgive me.

Anna then walked to Elena and put her hands on Elena's cheek "go and bring my dear John back".

"I will do as you command my lady".

When Elena arrived at John's room, she gave a light knock on the door

When Elena knocked, she heard John say "who is it? Please leave me alone". Elena bit her lip and finally replied "It is me young master, Elena".

John was shocked when he heard Elena's voice, he slowly got out of bed and went to the door, when he opened the door, Elena stood there with a glass full of blood on a tray. "May I come in young master?" Elena asked

"Oh uhm... sure come in" John said.

"Young master please drink some blood to get your energy back." Elena said while handing the glass to John. John stared at Elena for a few seconds before taking the glass.

John then took a small sip from the glass "so…so why are you here Elena"

"Young master I…I am sorry" Elena said while tears started to flow slowly down her cheeks. John's eyes went wide open, he put the glass of blood on the table and got up to her, John grabbed her two arms "Elena no…its…its not your fault, I am the one who told you to go to the meat store, I was the one who went to save the man and almost got myself killed…" tears began to stream down John's cheeks "I am the failure…I…I should have just died"

Elena's shook her head "No master, you are wrong, you have a good heart and that why you chose to save that man, all of us vampires in this castle are killers…but…but you young master are still pure"

Elena continued to speak to John "You made me so happy the other day that it made me cry, I have not been happy for a long time and you young master cared for me, a nobody, just a regular vampire maid… I was happy to see you alive and also angry to see you hurt and sad, when you touched my hand, it felt so warm, you are like my sunshine"

John's eyes went wide open and the tears started to poor more "Then…then what should I do, I disgraced my grandfather, you heard from the people what he said, that I am a weak"

Elena then put her hands on John's cheek "become stronger young master, work harder and show the master what you are made off, become more what he expects you to be"

John then enclosed his arms around Elena and gave her a strong but gentle hug and he whispered "Thank you Elena…for saving me… thank you for believing in me, in the future I will show him… no I will show them all what power is and make them acknowledge me".

Next day's evening, John went to Reina's room and knocked on the door. "come in John" Reina said, when John opened the door he saw Reina sitting by the table, cleaning her swords and daggers "what can I do for you"

John stepped a little closer "I want you to train me, I want to become stronger aunt Reina."

John gave a light bow and Reina's mouth quirked to a smile "I have been waiting for you to say that, the child of the wolf Jiren is not a quitter or a coward"

"Do you also know my father aunt Reina" John asked.

Reina did not answer John's question and just smiled "Good, then tomorrow we will continue with your training. Your progress is very slow but we will take it one step at a time". She then continued to clean her weapons.

"Thank you, aunt Reina"

Before John exit the room, Reina called him "John". John looked at her and she at him "I am proud of you"
