The Hunter's Mate

I grew older knowing supernatural creatures. For example, I could tell a vampire if I see one. It was strange that I was more powerful than any of them. At first, I thought I was one of them but the more I studied about them, the more it gave me reasons to doubt that I was like them. I gave up trying to find the race I belonged to, so I went about my daily life living like humans. But my world began to crumble when I found my mate. He is a warlock of the witch's coven and one of the mermaid hunters. Through him, I started to find who I really am and my purpose on earth.

Met a new friend

Chapter 19: Met a new friend

It was the beam of sunlight on my face that woke me up the next morning.

I yawned, my eyes trying to accustom to the ceiling staring down at me. I turned to the other side and found no one by the side of the bed. I sat up, leaning my back on the bed board and pulling off the blanket that I didn't know how it got on my body.

I was famished, for the fact that the last time I got something in my mouth was yesterday's morning. But I wasn't selfish enough to forget my companion. The siren was planned to help save her twin before landing into bigger trouble. I pushed off the thought that the worst had been done to Catherine. What if they strip her off her powers as well?. And how was this human boy able to do that?.

The door creaked open and a red haired girl walked in with a tray. She had big round eyes and long lashes. Her servant uniform gave way to who she was without being told. She quickly avoided a glance at me and dropped the tray on the side stool. She looked at my hair for a few seconds before speaking.

"Master asked me to give you this after you must have been awake." She grumpily started and started to leave the room. "Wait. Please, I want to speak to your master."

She breathed out, irritatedly and walked away without a word. "That was rude." I murmured.

Another girl with a similar uniform walked in with a bag.

This one was looking right in my eyes with an awful look. "Wow. It's really true." She dropped whatever she came with her on the floor and jumped on the bed. I flinched back and shifted, strangely staring at her. "Your hair and eyes are just superb. And you're extremely beautiful." I was taken aback by her words, that someone finally was acting nice towards me.

Her light brown eyes beaming at mine, " Can I touch?" She stretched her hand to my hair but my hand caught her arm midway, remembering what happened to Wendy when she grabbed my hair.

She looked at me quizzically. "It might hurt. I don't know." I said.

"I'm a witch. Don't worry." I froze instantly. 'A witch' my brain clicked. Before I considered moving away from her, her eyes turned red instantly and she touched my golden hair.

A power burst off my hair instantly and she yelped and ran off the bed. My eyes snapped to her palm instantly and sighed out it was normal, not steaming hot like yesterday.

"What the fuck!!. That was close." She screamed. I was immediately afraid of my hair. Why would my hair become dangerous to people?.

"What are you?. " She asked, "I can't tell. I do not know why my hair is like this" I truthfully replied.

Unknown silence fell into the room as we both looked at each other. She sighed.

"I understand. Nevertheless, I'm Cali Jeane." She stretched her hand for a handshake. I look at her hand and then at her, confused. "I won't hurt you. I'm different." She mumbled sitting on the bed, and I found myself leaning closer and taking her soft hand into mine.

She smiled and stepped out of the bed, she went to the corner of the bed where she dropped whatever she came with and picked it up. She dropped a bag in front of me. "Stefan asked a maid to give you this."

"A maid?." I asked, looking amused. "Are you not a maid?"

"What?. No..I was able to sneak in with the maid's uniform. I'm the daughter of the head witch. Lady Ursula." She answered.

"No one comes into Stefan's room. It's a restricted area so I needed a disguise to see you." She bit her lower lip. "Aren't you hungry?" She awkwardly asked, feeling uncomfortable at how I kept looking at her.

I removed my eyes from her body and lazily stepped out of the bed. I smelt really awful because I haven't freshened up since yesterday. "The bathroom is just here." I followed her eyes to a wooden door opposite us. I grabbed the bag and walked towards the door, I turned the door knob down and walked in.

Inside, the bathroom was big, a bathtub at the end and a mirror on the wall. I gasped when I looked at myself in the mirror, the reflection of myself scared the shit out of me. Though I knew my powers were being taken off of me, I tried to put on the tap with my powers but it never worked. I groaned loudly and opened the bag. I found a toothbrush and paste and began doing my thing.

The warm water helped calm my nerves, reducing the level of stress in my body and also improving my mood. I sit up and scoop out the soapy forms out of the bath and rub it absentmindedly at my leg up to my lap and thigh. I stay up to 3-4minutes while the bath relaxes my muscles both physically and mentally.

It didn't take long before I heard Stefan's voice in the room. I immediately rinsed my body and put a towel around my body before running to see him.

As my hand grabbed the door knob, Cali's voice stopped me from pushing open the door.

"I don't see any harm in the girl, besides she is nice." Cali told him and there was silence.

"She's dangerous. Do you know if she might pretend not to have her powers?. We don't know who she is yet and how powerful and dangerous she is to humans. Her stay here is just for days before the master arrives." Cali chuckled. "You used the witch's crystal on her. That solves your problem, unless you have a bigger problem."

"Just leave." He said flatly to her.

Footsteps were heard but it stopped abruptly and Cali's voice rang into the room.

"How do you feel about her?"

"I don't feel anything for her."
