The Hunter's Mate

I grew older knowing supernatural creatures. For example, I could tell a vampire if I see one. It was strange that I was more powerful than any of them. At first, I thought I was one of them but the more I studied about them, the more it gave me reasons to doubt that I was like them. I gave up trying to find the race I belonged to, so I went about my daily life living like humans. But my world began to crumble when I found my mate. He is a warlock of the witch's coven and one of the mermaid hunters. Through him, I started to find who I really am and my purpose on earth.

Meeting the doctor

Chapter 26: Meeting with the doctor.

She comes back with scrambled eggs, bacon, toast with hot coffee. She smiled before dropping it on the table. "The doctor would want to see you after breakfast." She said,

"Thanks Cali. I'm really grateful." I smiled and she tried to leave. "You can stay with me for breakfast. Eat with me." I invited sipping from the mug of coffee. She kisses both of my cheeks with a beautiful smile. "I could have, but I have to get ready for the big day after tomorrow. You know the blood oath festival is after tomorrow. I'll head to the town's market, get some stuff for decorations, foods and drinks."

"Ooh. Is the festival important for the town?"

"Yeah. It's a seal of the bond we share as witches"

"Who's master G by the way?. And why haven't I seen him?." I asked in a low tone. I've heard them call him, refer to him as human but do not know why they call him a master.

She sits on the bed with me. "Master G is the ruler of the town. He is Stefan's father. He inherited the town from his forefathers. The creator and ruler of the town since its existence. "

"Where's he?"

"Out on a trip with my mother. Elena, to be frank with you, the only reason you're still breathing, sleeping comfortably on the soft bed, eating good meals is because they are not back. Your trial begins once they're back to Hill town." She stands up. "I have to go now, see you when I'm back."

"I'm bored. I can't feel safe without you by my side." I stated truthfully. "You don't have to feel that way. You're safe as long as Stefan and Wendy leave the town for business." I almost choked out.

"They're going together?" I asked, visibly angry at the news.

"Aww. Don't feel bad. They are not dating anymore and Stefan barely talks to her. Though Wendy is going through a lot because of that. You know, Wendy and Stefan had been together since they were children. I thought they were mated, until she found her mate, Belle. And Belle died, since then she had been devastated, going through a lot. But Stefan was always there for her. I was infactly happy when they started dating.

Look Elena, I don't want you to feel like I'm pushing you off your mate with my tales, I know how it feels when someone you're destined for rejects you over night, I myself, would die if Aaron cheats on me. But then, please consider they are going through a lot, hence not ready to take in everything at once. Give them time to sort themselves out and you'll see, Stefan would come back to you with a basket of flowers and a heart full of love. Mm." I nodded silently and she turned back and walked away.

What use is it to wait for Stefan?, while you are expecting a death sentence from his father. And a relationship with Stefan is not what I'm hoping for right now, I had given up and embraced my fate.

For once, I thought of my family, people I had come to love since childbirth. I wasn't selfish enough not to think of them while I knew they would be looking for me right now. My mom, Anna. Who loved me like a daughter. My dad was always on a trip. And Juliana. Though we've been off like sisters since she knew me, I know I missed her deeply and I have a sisterly bond with her.

Stefan walks in, I raise my head to look at him. He took a few steps to me, and walked in front of the curtain. He had his back facing me and folded his hands behind.

"I'll be going on a trip with Wendy and will be coming back tomorrow."

"So I heard. Safe trip." I said to him,

Silence occurred in the room with no one making a noise. I loved Stefan like I love my soul. Even without the bond, I find myself drawn to him.

"Behave yourself while I'm away. Aaron is here to help if you need anything. Don't think you can escape from Hill town, my men are watching. " He warned strictly while I kept quiet and watched him closely. He turned and looked at me.

I was lost staring at his gray beautiful eyes, the eyes that lured me to him.

His eyes were cold and I knew beneath me that there was a hint of love behind those eyes.

"Your dream last night?" My eyes perked up immediately, to hear him. He bit his lower lip and shrugged. "Never mind." He said and walked away. He knows something, he definitely does.

Before Cali returned, I was already dressed in white dress coat and hood that Stefan got for me last week. I was ready for a long day at the market with Cali and I was looking forward to spending a good time.

Before we climbed into the SUV which was to take us to the market, we went to the town's clinic to meet the doctor. The clinic was not very far from the area, so we walked.

It seemed that Cali was well respected in town, she was treated like a queen and everywhere we passed, townspeople bowed to her. People looked at me strangely, considering the fact that no one knew me. They thought I was at the dungeon with rest, though they were restless. They are still not safe with me.

The doctor was attending to some people when we got to his office. Immediately he saw Cali. He bowed in respect while everyone left the office after bowing to Cali one after the other.

"What brings you to the clinic today? My lady?." He asked with his head bent. I looked at Cali, "My friend is sick. I need you to run some tests on her." I'm no more down with malaria and my body temperature is back to normal. The doctor looked at me and asked me to lie on the bed. I obeyed.

After several tests and checkups, the doctor walked into the office. I and Cali both looked up, he sat and faced us. "You're psychologically stressed. You think a lot and stress your mind over it. You need to have a quality time alone for your rest."
