The Hunter's Mate

I grew older knowing supernatural creatures. For example, I could tell a vampire if I see one. It was strange that I was more powerful than any of them. At first, I thought I was one of them but the more I studied about them, the more it gave me reasons to doubt that I was like them. I gave up trying to find the race I belonged to, so I went about my daily life living like humans. But my world began to crumble when I found my mate. He is a warlock of the witch's coven and one of the mermaid hunters. Through him, I started to find who I really am and my purpose on earth.

Fight with my mate

Chapter 21: Fight with my Mate.

Stefan's POV.

I finally ended the call and sank into a chair. I raked my hand through my hair and watched Wendy come in frowning as always. I noticed she dyed her pixie hair back to its original color.

She sat leg crossed on the couch opposite me, looking like she didn't see me as she fidgets with her finger tips. I coughed lightly and said something inaudible to her.

She looks at me instantly, as her eyes glistened, pouting in the process. "I greeted you." I repeated.

"Ooh. Okay." She rolled her eyes and went back to filing her nails. "Are you okay?. You seem..distant." I asked expecting an answer that never came. "Wendy."

"What do you want?" She yelled. "Are you angry with me?" I asked. She stood up and sat beside me. I kept looking at her as she ran her fingers on my shirt seductively and drew close to me to kiss me. I declined and moved away. "You know what, fuck you!" She spat and stood immediately.

Going back to her formal seat, she sat down and went back to her nails. "Wendy, ahm.."

I started but was interrupted by footsteps entering the sitting room.

Dan came in all dressed with his hands tuck into his pockets. He looked at me and turned to Wendy. "Are you ready?" He asked her. She cleared her throat and stood up. "Yeah."

She snakes her hand around his waist as they walked away together.

"Phew!. Isn't that your girlfriend and Dan walking out now?" Aaron asked me.

"We broke up." I replied, "Ooh."

"I don't think I should make her understand anymore, I've practically done everything to make her understand that things weren't as they used to be. I've met my soulmate now, she should get it into her head!"

Aaron chuckled and handed a glass of wine to me. "But you were angry she moved on."

"She's not supposed to go out with someone like Dan. Dan is dangerous and needs to be avoided. Then she shouldn't be moving on with him."

"Just like she moved in with him." He said.

"What do you mean?"

"She moved into his apartment again. I guess she wants to make you jealous."

"And about your mate?..ahm.."

"Let's not talk about her please." I shunned him and walked away.

I walked into my room and didn't find Elena. And the only place she might be was the balcony.

I opened the glass door to see her reading a book, sitting leg crossed on the love seat. I watched her sea blue eyes wander into the book as she flipped through pages. I wondered why she didn't notice my presence because right now, I am really intoxicated by her being. "Stop staring already, you're digging a hole into my eyes." Her calm voice leads me out consciously.

"Are you reading a book?" I stepped into the balcony with my hands behind my back. She closed the book and dropped it on the centre table. "Just finished two. You do know how bored I had been." She got up and walked into the room while I picked the book and followed her.

"Who gave you this book?" I asked, sounding serious. I flipped into some pages and confirmed my suspiciousness.

"Alright. Calm down, it was one of the numerous books the only person who has a brain in this town brought to me, okay?" She yelled. "What?"

"Yeah. How else do you explain the violation of human rights?." I scoffed.

"You are not even human, and then we don't know what you really are." I could agree to that, I do not know what I am either.

"Are you human?'' Answer me dick, are you mortal?" The anger in her voice was beginning to piss me off. I look down at the book.

"Did you perhaps read the chronicles of the brown family?"

She walks back towards the glass door, not exactly answering any of my questions. Making an attempt to open the door, I sent her flying back to the room. I felt pains run through my veins instantly because of the bond, and in a flash of time, I appeared in front of her. "Who gave you the book?" I asked, darkly as anger revolved around me. With the blood streaming down her nostrils, I knew I had hurt her really badly.

I squat down to her level and dragged her up with my fingers piercing into her arm. She squealed.

"You are all evil. There's no.. difference between you and the.. sirens." She coughs out. My fingers deepened into her skin and she squeaked.

"Do not compare me to those evil creatures." I warned, my eyes becoming darker by her every word.

"You know what?, you think you're stronger, give me my powers and fight me. Fight me." I waited for a second to pass before letting out a laugh..

"Hilarious. You think you are a match for me,..You know I can kill your miserable self and send you to hell right away. Do you know that?"

Her eyes flashed towards mine, and it melted into my dark eyes.

I don't like the fact that our bond was growing daily, overtaking my powers. I do not know why the moon goddess gave me an unknown creature like her. I've always wanted a human to be my mate, someone that I had powers over, and the moon goddess unfairly gave me someone like her, someone much more powerful than anyone could be.

"Stefan, stop.!!" A familiar female voice breaks into my mind and brings me out of thought.

I looked beside me and found Cali staring crazily at me. "Cali, let's get out of here." Aaron says behind, coughing as the fire intensely burned the curtains and to the bed sheet.

That was when I put my arm on my nose as the smoke passed my nostrils. I had unknowingly started a fire in a fight against Ellie, I looked to find Aaron carrying my mate in his arms and running out of the room.

"Go. Go away from here and never return until you calm down." Cali shouts into my head and pushes me out of the room.

I ran away from the building into the woods, my howls echoing up in the air. Punching the leaves and shaking down the forest, the birds flew away and the ground shook and my world rotated around me.

"Why?. Why do you hate me this much?, why?" I shouted into the air as a wave of dust flew past me, misting up with wind as it encircled me, then I only knew the one I referred to only had the answer to my questions.
