The Hunter's Mate

I grew older knowing supernatural creatures. For example, I could tell a vampire if I see one. It was strange that I was more powerful than any of them. At first, I thought I was one of them but the more I studied about them, the more it gave me reasons to doubt that I was like them. I gave up trying to find the race I belonged to, so I went about my daily life living like humans. But my world began to crumble when I found my mate. He is a warlock of the witch's coven and one of the mermaid hunters. Through him, I started to find who I really am and my purpose on earth.

Connected to our soul

Chapter 32: Connected to our soul.

The car dropped us in front of a nice coffee shop. He led my hands locked together into the shop. I loved the idea that for once, i was out with humans like me.

We sat opposite each other as a waitress came forward. We both ordered and she left.

Jake was staring at me the whole time we talked, I noticed how he kept staring at me and I was beginning to feel uncomfortable. He placed his hand on mine and raised it up to his lips. "You're simply gorgeous, beautiful." I almost rolled my eyes, I drew out my hand and placed them on my lap.

I was putting on a tank top on a blue high waist bum short. My hair was packed in a bun by Delilah and it made my neck bare. I only had a gold chain round my neck.

"Stop doing that, Jake." I whispered in a low tone. He sniggered. "You're so chuckle headed." I told him. I smiled when the coffee was dropped in front of us. "Thanks."

"I love your mark." The waitress said, I smiled shyly at her and she walked away to attend to the other customers.

"What mark?." Jake questioned.

"No, it's nothing." I replied immediately.

In a jiffy, he turned my neck down and I know he must be staring at the mark right now.

"I hate to admit it's beautiful. Did that asshole do this to you?." He asked me. I tried to shake my head but couldn't, "No. It's my birth mark." I replied trying to push him off me but he was way too strong. My neck was already hurting like it would break any minute from now.

He put his hand on my mark, I felt electric shock run through my veins, it gave me chills down my nervous system. I quickly pushed him hard and he hit his butt back on the chair.

I looked around, searching for him. I could feel him, close.

I found him. Sitting in a booth at the far end of the shop. He looked like he was looking for me also. When I saw him, I felt my soul explode, it came and bounced back to me. My body, soul and mind were united and my heart leaped with joy.

Jake's voice made me turned, he was looking at me suspiciously. "What are you looking at?." He asked, while I rolled my eyes and simply answered, "Nothing."

Stefan's POV.

I sat inside the car and kept hitting my hand on the sterling. Today, I found out that Jake got back together with my mate.

I almost screamed out of frustration. I gritted my teeth when he kissed her hand, I clenched my fist when he bent her over to see our mark. I was supposed to be the one to take her out for coffee. I was supposed to kiss her hand and whisper how much I love her. I could feel our soul connects to each other. I could feel us even right now.

The car opened and Aaron got in. He looked at me, "The vampires are all over the place. We can't attack anyone, not today." I nodded.

We can't take down multiple vampires, and we can't fight them in front of a coffee shop in a broad daylight.

"I also found something else, Stefan." I nodded and he continued.

"Jake Bolton is a vampire prince."

That shocking revelation made me speechless. At high school, he was strong, his knuckles were stronger like a born fighter and I didn't notice. I was after the stupid sirens.

A vampire prince, I could swear they kidnapped her. But I fail to understand why she was so happy with him.

"I'm sorry, it would be too hard to win her over. Let's trail them and wait for the right time."

I saw them walk out of the coffee shop, Jake held her very close to himself, I watched her smile at him, laugh at his jokes.

My grip on the sterling tightened, it should have been me. It should be me she laughs, smiles and touches.

"Let's go, Stefan." Aaron said and I ignited the car and drove off.

I walked into Cali's room and I sat down on her bed. Her smells were still faint and I always come in here because that was where my Nellie slept while she was here.

I stand to my feet and walk in front of the closet. I opened it and took out the clothes she wore while she was here. I was pained to think that the only dresses I bought for her were gowns with hoods. Dresses that cover up every part of her body.

I was an idiot. I didn't buy her expensive gowns, shoes, designer's bag. Another man was doing that in my absence.

I try to think of how much I've hurt her, how much attention she lacked from me, how she was living off on her own over here. I remembered the first time I hit her and almost choked her to death. I'm terrible.

"Stefan, give her time, she will come around." I heard Cali say from the doorway. She stepped further into the room and collected the clothes from me.

"Will she ever forgive me?." I asked her even when I knew the answer to that.

"She will. She's just taking time."

"She had moved on with her ex. She seemed happy with him."

"No, no, no." Cali took me to the bed. She made me lie on the bed and there was silence.

"Sometimes I wished my mother was here. She would pamper me to bed, sing me a lullaby and make sure I do not choose wrongly when it comes making decisions."

"You're not a baby anymore, sweetheart." She giggled. I shrugged. "That was all I missed as a child."

"My mom is here and wouldn't do that to me."
