The Hunter's Mate

I grew older knowing supernatural creatures. For example, I could tell a vampire if I see one. It was strange that I was more powerful than any of them. At first, I thought I was one of them but the more I studied about them, the more it gave me reasons to doubt that I was like them. I gave up trying to find the race I belonged to, so I went about my daily life living like humans. But my world began to crumble when I found my mate. He is a warlock of the witch's coven and one of the mermaid hunters. Through him, I started to find who I really am and my purpose on earth.

Chapter 87: Birthday wishes II.

"It seems that everyone knows you turned a year older except me. In my eyes, you are exactly the way that you were when I met you for the first time – stunning and gorgeous. Happy birthday, Elena..." Cali was the first to hand me a gift. "Thank you," I smiled at her and opened the box. It was a silver wrist watch, much bigger than the one kept on top of the drawer.

"Congratulations honey! You have circled the Sun again and it's your Birthday! I wish you the best, and a seven-course dinner tonight." Ava said and her mate handed me two boxes.

"Sorry Ava. We have plans tonight." Stefan said, giving her a glare. I pinched him and he let out a yelp and ran out of the bed. "Thanks Ava. I would love to eat them all. Yum! Yum!!." We laughed, and I opened the box to see a beautiful red dinner gown. "Wow, it's beautiful.." I mumbled and hugged her. "Thank you."

"You are welcome. Ed wouldn't show me what he got. He seems pretty shy about it."

"Oh mate." He mumbled under his breath and pushed her forward, he kissed her neck and rubbed her right arm. I smiled and opened the box. Blue skating boots paired in the long box. My first time receiving something like this. "Thanks, Alpha." I appreciated him. "Don't mention."

Aaron came forward, he leaned forward and pecked my hair. "Happy birthday darling." He handed me a box. I funnily looked at him, wondering what was inside.

When I opened the box, I was met with a beautiful silver wrist chain. I gasped and looked up at him, "Wow. It's...simple and lovely." I exclaimed, putting it over my hand. "Thanks Aaron."

I believe that wrist chains must cost a lot. These brothers were filthy rich. "You can say that again." Stefan mumbled, winking at me. I rolled my eyes at him. I'll learn how to block him out soon. He frowned and I ignored him.

"Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday.. I really…"

"Is the party ending already?." Julia cut me off. I looked to find her in the doorway, with Ethan beside her. I watched her from her hair to the toe. She had changed so much.

"Happy birthday sis.." She kissed my both cheeks and handed me her gift box. Ethan was standing beside her with a creamy cake, just as I liked it.

"You may be older by a year today but you are sexier than ever! Happy birthday, sweetheart." Julia said. I tore her gift and looked up at her when I saw the box. Stefan was amusingly pecking towards me. Everyone, she bought me;

A pack of condom and silky fancy lingerie.

"Hey. mom is coming, " She snatched the box and threw it under the bed.

*This is the only sensible gift.* Stefan mindlinked. Gosh!. He can't be serious right now, I sighed and braced myself to meet the royal princess.

Here comes a calm figure. Everyone paid obeisance. "Bless you." She said and sat on the bed while Stefan quickly scurried out of the bed.

"I've watched you grow into the woman I hoped you become, you have been such a good lag even when we've hit off roughly at times. Happy birthday sweetheart and may the good lord protect you." She kissed the back of my hands and hugged me.

"Thanks mommy." I muttered, also sniffing up at the beautiful warm wishes I had from them. This is infact my best birthday.

"There's also one from Noami.." Ethan said and my smiles disappeared. It was as if Stefan felt me tensed up, he pushed the gifts down and sat back on the bed. He was messaging the back of my hand to keep me calmed.

"I want to hear." I said.

"Elena...I am sorry for two things, one, not showing up at your birthday as promised and secondly, the incident that happened last week. I know you must hate me after this but listen, there's no way in hell that those memories have been wiped off completely. You'll still remember, while doing that, know that I am almost getting to what I've been looking for years. I'm gonna kill our parents's murderer and at least i am happy that you're alive.

Sending love. .

Noami."

Had it been true?, she was so sure of herself. Is she really the Noami I saw in my dreams?.

*No. Please don't think about it. Come here.* Stefan pushed me so I placed my head on his lap.

"Where did you ...get it?." I tried to sound strong but my voice failed me. I cleared my throat and looked up at Ethan to answer to me.

"We had a coffee together. She said she was going somewhere and won't be here for a while." Ethan responded and I didn't know when hot tears streamed down my cheeks, damping on Stefan's trousers.

He growled, "Alright. You've said enough..Everyone leave…" He said. It was as if telling them to leave or die. It didn't take long before all who wished me a happy birthday left the room except mom.

"I'll see you in the evening." The royal princess said and left. Stefan slowly kissed me and tucked me under the blanket. "Please rest.." He begged.

~Noami's pov~

I stood behind the window and watched the moon light in the dark sky. My mind went down the memory lane of me, mom with Abbey.

~~~
"Why's it that the moon does not come in the daytime?." Abbey asked. I looked at her and sloked her hair. "Who told you that?." I asked back.
"Chelle." She replied...I shook my head, "The moon is visible in daylight nearly every day, the exceptions being close to the new moon, when the moon is too close to the sun to be visible, and close to the full moon when it is only visible at night."
"Who told you that?." Mom asked and we turned to see her standing in front of the door. We hadn't known she had been there all along.
"I've read in a book." I responded.
She started walking towards us, she sat in the middle while we rested our heads on her arm.
"You've read right. Ever read the moonlight poem?." She asked.
"No, mother." We replied in unison.
Under the moonlight
Still thinking of you
The love that was once cherished
Has vanished into the blue
Where are you now?.
Asked my worried mind.
How will I survive, through the darkest nights?.
You're running through my senses, what else do I feel?.
It's all about you that I need.
To wake me up from my scare's dreams.
It's really hard to imagine.
The moment we watched the stars,
Tonight I'm alone in the dark,
Couldn't find your shadow under the moonlight.
