57 The Rescue (1)

Malcom was sitting in his house calmly, it was early in the morning, and the sun had not even risen yet. But, it was already his custom to start the day early.

He was already dressed and ready to do his day's chores when someone knocked on his door.

Malcom frowned as it was still too early. Nevertheless, he walked to open the door.

When he opened it, he was surprised to see that it was Albert. Malcom looked at Albert with a raised brow.

At this time, Albert was wearing a black suit, a white shirt, and a black-tie. Standing next to Albert was Jessika. She was also dressed the same way. Jessika was looking at him with a wide smile.

"What are you doing here? And where is your uniform?" Malcom could not help but ask.

Albert smiled before he blew his shoulder, blowing non-existence dust on it. He then said with a grin, "This is the flawed uniform. Something Jonah proposed to piss everyone off. Now let's go."

"Huh?" Malcom was dumbfounded. But Albert already began to walk.

"We got a clue from someone who may have your friend," Albert said before Malcom could speak.

Malcom's eyes were wide like a plate. It did not take long for him to understand the situation. He took his stuff and followed them.

As he walked, Jessika took his arm in a cast and hooked it with hers. He began to walk next to her.

Smiling, she wrote with her finger in the air, 'I'm glad you are coming.'

Malcom nodded and, walking firmly, followed both of them in the direction they indicated.

In a short time, everyone gathered at the entrance to the house of a building where Malcom lived, and Jessika wrote something quickly in the air, and a portal appeared.

Albert entered casually. Then the girl carrying Malcom crossed the portal as well.

It only took a blink, but now they were in a desert area far from the city. Malcom could see the city wall in the distance.

Albert was looking at everything with a grin.

They were on the roof of a building of an ancient ruin that had been discovered and explored a long time ago.

"Where are we?" Malcom asked.

Jessika began to write. She wrote quickly but filled all the air with words.

Albert waved his hand, dissipating what she already wrote. Jessika glared at him.

"I'll take care of it, beauty," Albert said after chuckling. He advanced to the edge of the roof where they were and pointed to the ruins that appeared considerably far away.

"This is an observation point, and we have information that in those ruins that you can see there are members of the church of the four. And according to our informant, they have hostages," Albert explained.

Malcom opened his eyes with excitement. "And what are we waiting for? Let's go at once!" He said while looking at Albert with impatience.

The young man shook his head. Albert put his hand on the Marked's chest before speaking seriously, "I understand that you are anxious, dude. But you have to calm down. We are still waiting for the rest."

Malcom looked at him in exasperation.

At that moment, Jessika opened another portal from where several people appeared dressed in the same suit as Albert.

Behind them Jonah appeared, accompanied by a lady in a long purple dress.

The woman was beautiful, she looked the same age as Jonah, and her confident look gave her an air of authority. It only took Malcom a few seconds to recognize Junica the Shaman Virtue.

"I love these operations, Jonah. Thank you for having me," Junica said gratefully.

Jonah smiled while looking at Malcolm. He said, "Good that you could come, kid!"

Malcom nodded and, looking at the direction of the ruins, said something when Jonah clapped his hands, gaining everyone's attention.

"Listen, this is the plan!" Jonah declared.

Malcom looked at him and smiled. All the people seemed to pay attention to him.

The people all dressed in suits were looking at Jonah with respect.

"He is Malcom!" Jonah loudly said.

Everyone present looked at Malcom then. Almost everyone smiled in his direction except for a girl with short hair and blue highlights who looked at him indifferently.

Jonah continued, "He is here to identify the hostages. Junica will support us with this too."

Junica nodded in agreement.

"Malcom, these are my men. They are known as the Group of the Flawed!" Jonah pointed them out, and they all greeted. The Virtue added, "You already know Albert and Jessika. The rest are Moran, Sofia, and Clare."

As he said that, he was pointing to each one.

Moran was a tall and stocky boy with very long hair tied in a braid that fell behind him.

While Sofia, very close to him, wore the same hairstyle, but her braid fell from one side over her shoulder, the two of them grinned.

The last member of the squad looked at Malcom with a blank expression. She walked towards him while taking off her headphones.

When she noticed Malcom was looking in her direction, she suddenly shone like lightning. Her expression suddenly turned into anger.

Malcom, surprised by the sudden hostility, raised his brows with amusement.

She stared at him for a few more seconds before shifting her gaze towards Jonah.

"At least he's not scared," She said as if she was complimenting him, but Malcom highly doubted that idea.

Clare had short hair and blue highlights at the ends, accompanied by black gloves and a choker with a blue gem on the neck.

Malcom looked at her with determination.

"Honey, why do you have an inhibitor collar?" Junica asked when she noticed what the choker was for.

The girl looked at her with a completely rude expression but did not reply, completely dismissing her question.

Junica raised a brow and looked at Jonah questioningly.

"She can't stop using her power. That's the only way to be close to people," Jonah explained casually.
