Chapter 6 The Wrongdoer Complains First

After Su Yunjin married into the Gu Family, she discovered that they were hunters but also that the family patriarch was paralyzed and her husband, Gu Ya, was limping—the Gu Family was poor as can be.

When Su Yunjin first arrived at the Gu Family, she felt incredibly wronged. Luckily, Gu Ya was considerate and treated her well, and her mother-in-law did not mistreat her either.

Gradually, Su Yunjin slowly came to accept her new life as a member of the Gu Family.

And just like that, Su Yunjin settled down in the Gu Family and became Gu Ya's wife.

Gu Ya was quite good to Su Yunjin, and he always deferred to her in everything.

Although the other brothers and sisters-in-law in the Gu Family were not very friendly toward her, they didn't trouble her and managed to live together without incident.

After half a month, Su Yunjin had adjusted to the Gu Family and felt that being their daughter-in-law was not unacceptable, except she felt regret over Gu Ya's leg.

On the day of the third-day visit back to her parents' home, Su Yunjin's parents learned of the true state of the Gu Family, and that Gu Ya was disabled with a limp and that the family was so poor they went meal to meal. They were full of regret.

Especially Su Yunjin's mother, who felt as if they had harmed Su Yunjin.

But even so, now that Su Yunjin had already married into the Su Family and become their daughter-in-law, Su Yunjin's parents, despite feeling pity for their own daughter, still earnestly advised her and sent her back to the Su Family.

What's done was done, and it was useless to regret it now!

She secretly contemplated that her modest husband's leg had become lame from a fall while hunting in the mountains, not something he was born with, and it seemed that it was not severely lame.

Perhaps it could still be cured.

Su Yunjin was silently observing Gu Ya's limping leg without speaking. Seeing his little wife staring at his leg, Gu Ya felt a sudden darkness in his heart, not sure what Su Yunjin was thinking.

These days, the villagers haven't stopped saying the little wife jumped into the river because she married a man with a limp.

Even though Gu Ya didn't believe his little wife would jump into the river, he was still very sensitive about his limp "Yunjin, you rest well! I'm going to the market now to get your medication," he said.

After speaking, Gu Ya suddenly hurried out of the room, his complexion not looking too good. What was wrong with that man all of a sudden? Su Yunjin watched Gu Ya's retreating figure in confusion.

No sooner had Gu Ya left than Su Yunjin heard footsteps and the voices of several women getting closer to her room. Clearly, some people were heading her way.

"Mother, the third brother's wife really woke up, if you don't believe me, I'll take you to see her right now," one said.

"Mother, big sister and I just went to see the third sister-in-law. We were just concerned about her, but as soon as she woke up, she started scolding us and didn't like the look of us! She even said we pushed her into the water," another added.

"Yes, the third brother's wife scolded us harshly. We don't know if she's gone mad from the drowning, seeing everyone as someone who wants to harm her," they continued.

The two speaking were the same women who previously wanted to throw her into the mountains to feed her to the wolves, and Su Yunjin recognized their voices.
