Chapter 38: The Wives

I yawn as I stretch and feel myself waking up. Unlike the other days, I feel like my rest was more profound and my body feels it. My eyes open and I gasp as I see Ro laying next to me, his eyes closed, still asleep.

I don’t recall us sleeping together, is this why I slept so well? I lift my head slightly and feel him move; his eyes flutter open and he looks around before his eyes meet mine.

“Good morning, my Enna,” he whispers and brushes his lips against my cheek.

I melt and lean in, pressing my lips on his. We kiss slowly and tenderly, knowing and understanding what effect we have on each other. His hand caresses my cheek and he smiles at me.

“I am sorry, I don’t remember us laying down together,” I say as I kiss his hand softly.

He chuckles. “We didn’t. I couldn’t sleep and I came to see if you were ok. I think you sensed me while you were asleep and you invited me to join you. I admit I was able to sleep better with you in my arms.”
