1 Mother
Did I die? The last thing I can remember is…the School shooting! Dammit! Did I get shot!? That's a stupid question, I'm dead or at least I think I am. I can feel stuff, but it's so dark, no, there's a dim light and it's getting brighter. After I adapt to the light I can see a large room filled with eggs, most of them crushed or burnt and In the middle lase a very large insect.
"The prince is born!" proclaims the booming female voice. The next thing I hear is lots of clicking, hissing, and chirping form all around me. I'm so confused, what is going on? " Don't fret little prince, all will be expanded shortly." What? You can hear me? "Yes, but only I can for now at least, you will learn to communicate with the others as you grow older" OK, so are you my mother? " Yes, I am the Queen of this Hive, and mother to all that live in it. That's enough taking you must be starved you should eat." on queue one of the things standing to the side comes and regurgitates some mush on the ground in front of me. At this point I have been sitting on my rear with my two double jointed legs out front. As for arms, I have 4, two big ones on the sides of my shoulders and two smaller arms below them meant for grabbing things.
"This is grog, it is food. There is not much to spare so eat your fill." I look down hungrily at the green chunky fluid, if you can call it that. I lean down to smell it expecting it to reek but it doesn't, in fact it has no smell at all. It looks disgusting but I'm too hungry to care, I start scarfing it down, unlike the smell the taste is a mix of rotting meat, old plant and spit, despite the taste it is filling. "Do you wish to name yourself, Little prince." Yes, I wood like to name myself, Mother. " Then you will tell me tomorrow morning, and you will come to know the resin for your birth, until then you should rest. Follow the worker to your room.'' Of course, Mother goodnight. I said as I bowed my head.
As I'm wake up I'm startled by the worker who brought me to my chambers. Um, can I help you? Oh who am I kidding he can't understand me. He starts chirping at me. Huh did I say something wrong? "No little prince you did no wrong" Mother is that you? "Yes it is me" Where are you, i can't see you? " All will be explained shortly, Follow the worker to me." With that said the worker starts to leave, I catch up on wobbly legs and follow him.
We don't go far; the Queen's chamber is only a few rooms down. "Hello little prince, did you sleep well?" Yes, Mother, I did. "Good, there is much to explain today so it is best to be well rested. Today I will explain the resin for your berth." I believe so. I said nervously. " Let's start with your name, what have you chosen?" huh? Oh! I have chosen Nexis. "Well then Nexis, normally you would have knowledge of your dudes like all your brethren, but for that you must be connected to the Hive Mine, which you are not." Why aren't I? " I'm getting to that. The reason for you not being connected is you will make your own Hive." Are there others like me? "No, you are the only one. The resin for this is my fault, my Hive has grown too weak to stop the humans. They poison the ground, choke the air, and steal the water, all to kill us." That's horrible, what did we ever do to them? " We tried to get our home ba" her face filled with shock and terrier " you must go!
