The Naming of a War Sight

Steps could be heard in the barren alleyway.

Dimitrin and Travis walked through a dark city. Travis was surprised that a city even existed in the Abyss, he hadn't heard anything about this.

The city had clearly seen better times, the residents looked ill, the streets unkept. Dimitrin ordered Travis not to stare at anyone, rather pretend they never existed. When asked why Dimitrin only stated, "It's for our convenience."

Since Travis' mask was broken, he had to especially make sure he kept his eyes straight. Something shattered, it almost drew Travis' attention. However he fought the urge and ignored it.

He followed Dimitrin into a smaller alleyway. This one lacked people, yet was filed with various trash and miscellaneous items. Travis found it odd that someone who had the qualifications to name a War Sight lived in such poor conditions.

Dimitrin lead him to an inconspicuous door, it nearly blended in with the ordinary dirt-stained wall. Anyone could walk past it unknowing of its existence unless they were searching.

Dimitrin paused before entering, "I will warn you now, you must treat the Seer with utmost respect. Only Dukes can afford to speak on friendly terms. Do not do anything to disrespect the Seer. Do as she says, if she makes any unreasonable requests... remain silent. I will intervene."

Travis nodded solemnly. He had never seen Dimitrin speak this way unless talking directly to Flinnder.

Dimitrin opened the door and walked in, Travis followed. Inside was decorated like an herbal shop. Several strange items lined on shelves, strangle plants hanging from the ceiling. The only light source was from a single glowing plant, which made the whole room give off an eerie vibe.

An old lady walked forward, she was hunched over and remained steady with a cane. Yet her hair was pearly white, her eyes bright. The most prominent feature Travis immediately recognized was her left hand, it was twisted a full 180 degrees. It didn't look like it grew that way, rather it was twisted violently and healed in that position.

The old lady looked at Dimitrin, "Oh... it's you. How long has it been?"

Dimitrin bowed respectfully, "It has been many a century great Seer."

"Already? I am getting far too old. Tell me, what is it you want?"

Dimitrin pulled out a small box and presented it to the Seer, "We seek your wisdom."

The Seer looked at the box with disgust, "You know I do not accept payment for this."

"It is not payment, rather a gift for your time."

"Bah! Put it away, instead join me for a snack. I wish to chat a while."

Dimitrin did as she asked. They all sat on cushions around a low table, the Seer poured a strange drink and gestured for them to enjoy it.

Dimitrin respectfully took a sip, but drank no more. Travis followed and found out why. The drink tasted awful, it was like a mixture of spoiled milk and old orange juice. He nearly spat it out, but he forcefully swallowed the drink and placed his cup down.

The Seer began to drink her own cup as she asked, "How is Tevis these days?"

Dimitrin's eyes saddened as they responded, "Lord Tevis had passed long ago."

The Seer was silent for a while before responding, "Ah a shame, he owed me a favor. So who took his position?"

"Lord Flinnder."

The Seer gave a small laugh, "Little Flinnder took over? Is he doing well?"

"He is doing no worse than his father."

The Seer eyed them suspiciously, "A strange way to put it... So why is the non-dweller here?"

"He is the Champion of Lord Flinnder."

"Champion..? It's that time already?"

"Yes."

The Seer sighed, "Time flies I suppose. Still... for Flinnder to obtain a Champion with a Sight. It seems like his luck is still shining bright."

She turned her head to Travis, "Boy, show me your right palm."

Travis obediently showed his palm. The Seer crumbled a strange material on his palm and studied it. After a minute of scrutinizing her eyebrows raised, "This is an interesting one. Consider yourself lucky Boy, I am going the extra step for this one." She then snapped, "Both palms!"

Travis showed his other palm. The Seer pushed them together and sprinkled more of the strange material on them. She began muttering under her breath and Travis' palms began to glow. A strange writing appeared, one Travis didn't recognize.

The Seer's voice began to rise, "The power of the indomitable one. A king watched over its people with absolute power. A soldier cloaked in darkness stands on top a mountain of bodies. A man shatters a mountain, and it crumbles in response. The user stands above all. They unleash a pressure which makes even the mighty kneel, and the weak die. With the power bestowed upon me given by the path I chose to follow. I hereby name thee... 「Indomitable Pressure」."

Woooosh

A chaotic amount of energy spread across the room. The strange writing on Travis' palms began to warp into new shapes. Once they remained still he was bombarded with system notifications.

Travis' heart nearly jumped out of his chest from the surprise. This... wasn't this too strong?!

Since the Seer seemed to continue with his palms he opened the new War Sight page and began to read.

"Indomitable Pressure"

The strength of the indomitable one forces all to their knees. If one lacks willpower, they find themselves at the mercy of the wielder.

War Sight Status Ratings:

Power: F-

Range: C

Utility: S+

Potential: F-

Total: S

Travis wasn't sure what the status rating were for. It slightly disheartened him when he saw two F-, but he felt better upon seeing the S+.

The page didn't tell him much about the ability of his War Sight, though he could gain an idea from the description.

The Seer closed her eyes and sighed, "Little Flinnder found something amazing this time. Now leave, this has tired me greatly. I may have to rest for the next two years."

Dimitrin bowed, "I thank you Great Seer."

They left quickly, with Travis scrambling after. The Seer sighed and mumbled, "That non-dweller will have issues with those people in the future. Bah, not my issue."

...

Travis and Dimitrin exited the city and stood on the outskirts. Dimitrin pulled out a small black crystal and shattered it. Within a second a crooked black square appeared, "Let's go."

They stepped in and returned to the manor. Travis felt like the manor had a more cheerful feel to it, despite the dark colors of the Abyss.

Flinnder floated down from above. Once he landed he asked, "And? Is it done?"

Dimitrin kneeled, "Yes Lord Flinnder."

Flinnder smiled and turned to Travis, "Well then Champion, let us see what you can do..."

Dimitrin tried to object, "It might disappoint you Lord, he has barely begun training-!"

Flinnder raised a hand, "I believe in the talent of my Champion. I merely wish to see the beginning."

Dimitrin lowered their head, "Yes my Lord."

Flinnder focused on Travis, "Now, let us see."

Travis concentrated, feeling the power within he enlarged it. Soon it exploded, a domineering pressure was unleashed on the surrounding area. Affecting both Dimitrin and Flinnder.

Flinnder raised an eyebrow, "Dimitrin..?"

Dimitrin replied, "Yes my Lord?"

"You feel it as well correct?"

"Most likely more than you Lord."

A grin spread on Flinnder's face, "Fantastic! Truly splendid! Once you can control this my position as Duke is essentially cemented! Dimitrin, how long do you think until he has it under control?"

Dimitrin replied, "He showed astonishing progression upon fully awakening. I would say in a week or two he will have control over the ability. After that he would be able to use it with precision."

Flinnder clapped, "A week then, I wish to test my Champion again within a week. Turn that off, it is slightly annoying me now."

Travis retracted his War Sight. His heartbeat accelerated, the reaction from Flinnder meant it was good right? What exactly does his War Sight do?

Flinnder bade farewell and retreated to his office. Meanwhile Dimitrin walked over, "Rest well, your next training session will be harsh. However it would be best not to disappoint Lord Flinnder."

Travis bowed, "Of course."

As Travis walked to his room he studied his hands. He attempted to unleash his War Sight slightly, however he failed to do so. Every time it would release at full power, making him quickly shut it off.

As he walked a golden dagger flew towards him. He noticed it near last second and dodged. A small cut on his neck. He winced, Dimitrin had kept their word. To think an attack would appear so soon.

He kept his guard up as he returned to his room. His progression has already far outmatched his previous timeline's!
