First Journey among the Jackals

Finally out of the huge doors came out a young man dressed in black clothes with silver linings.

His face was handsome with black hair and blue eyes.

He was the heir of the SteelBurn Baron, Jackson Steel.

In this world, only nobility were deemed important enough to get a surname.

Usually, it was connected to the territory they ruled over but in special cases, it could even be connected to their power as a knight or mage.

All nobility in the continent were strong, all of them got trainers from a young age in the best techniques humans had to offer, be it mana or martial arts and weapon mastery.

It was said that they held those techniques and training as a responsibility and they would be the first at the frontlines but it was all a sham. They just wanted to keep their powerful grip on the commoners and never go out of power, be it politically, strategically, or simply combat-wise power.

That didn't mean that all nobles were trash-walking around the world.

The Baron of SteelBurn took his job and duty very seriously and that was one of the reasons the city could prosper so much and have such low crime rates.

His son Jackson was said to be following in his father's footsteps so everyone who saw him was in actuality very respectful towards him.

Leroy looked at him in disdain, however.

While good nobility cared for the commoners that didn't mean that they did so for the people of the slums who were considered even less than people and almost didn't exist in their eyes.

The matter of the slums obliteration had spread far and wide but no one seemed to care, if it was the commoner section then maybe but it seemed like the slums had no such effect.

As Jackson went inside the carriage prepared for him beforehand, the journey started.

The jackals surrounded the carriage and started walking alongside it.

Normal people wouldn't be able to handle the journey and Leroy currently couldn't as well as he hadn't fully unlocked his mana yet which would boost all his physical attributes to superhuman levels.

Everyone had mana but it just wasn't fully unlocked unless u underwent training, unless u were someone in a million genius then u would be born with fully unlocked mana.

Sadly Leroy wasn't one of them.

Though he figured that he had unlocked his mana a bit more than the normal person, it still was nowhere close to fully unlocked.

So Harry had arranged that he would walk half the day and then get up and sit next to the driver so he could rest.

Later when they stopped in the evening, Gorkuis would train him for two hours every day for two weeks and when he unlocked his mana he would walk the entire time.

By doing this he would be able to grow both his physical strength and skills allowing him to grow stronger at a much faster speed than usual.

Harry was expecting Leroy to be as strong as him by the end of the journey with his monstrous talent.

And so the Journey began.

A while later, a carriage could be seen inside a forest road, and next to it where the mercenaries.

They were the Jackals, the mission had already started and they had been walking for almost the entire day now.

Leroy could be seen sitting next to the carriage driver as he asked him some questions about how to ride a carriage and what he should know about these roads.

'The more information I have, the safer I can be while traveling around the world.' Leroy thought as he continued to ask the man questions.

"Do bandit attacks occur often while traveling the roads?" Leroy asked the man.

"They happen occasionally but not a lot, especially on the main roads between the big cities, of course, if it is a road to a smaller village or somewhere else then the chances of getting stopped by bandits are much higher and it almost always happens to merchants."

"Wouldn't that cause the merchants to just not go to those villages and thus the villagers wouldn't have materials they needed for daily life?" Leroy asked.

"Most of the merchants have pacts with the bandits of their destinations and considering how much they can sell in a village that desperately needs those supplies, in the end, it still turns into a profit. Of course, if you don't have a pact with the bandits then they going to rob you clean and maybe even kill you." The Carriage driver said as he continued to explain the situation to Leroy.

A while later it was starting to become dusk so Harry went up to the carriage and knocked on the door.

The door opened slightly and Jackson Steel could be seen inside with a butler.

"It's becoming dusk, I suggest we stop and make camp for the night, your highness," Harry said to Jackson while he lowered his head so he wouldn't be looking at Jackson's eyes as it could be seen as offending to nobility.

"All right, well do as you say mercenary captain," Jackon said as he told the butler to once again close the door with his head.

Harry proceeded to walk to the carriage driver as he told him the news and the carriage started to stop.

"Men, we're going to camp the night here, start making your tents and building the campfire." Harry loudly said as he started getting the Nobel's supplies so that he could build the tent for the baron heir.

Everyone scattered around next to the dirt road and started doing their own jobs.

The tents were 3 people tents with only the heir having a single person one.

All together there were six small tents around the small clearing next to the forest road.

Leroy was in the same one with Gorkuis and Jakins, as he also started to prepare himself for his first training with Gorkuis.

A while later after everyone finished making their tents, Gorkuis took Leroy to a clearing on the other side, about fifty meters away from everyone else.

"Are you ready to start? What do you wish to learn?" Gorkuis asked Leroy as he crossed his arms on his chest.

"I want to unlock my mana," Leroy said immediately.
