The Heretic Sword God

The Heretic Sword God, The One Who Betrayed All, The Thousand-Faced God, The Jester's Blade... These were all names given to one person by the masses; Khoru. But, that's too far into the future. Let's start at Khoru's beginning, his start on the path to both supreme and unparalleled strength, and godhood... Khoru, originally someone from a distant planet known as Kale Planet, perished and reincarnated on another planet. In his next life, Khoru realized that there was a drastic difference between the two worlds. This world had supernatural powers. The people of this world could awaken supernatural beings known as 'Martial Spirits' at the age of 12. Not only would these beings aid people in their cultivation, they could even provide people with magical items or abilities. Khoru just so happened to be born into a small noble family in Yellow Apple Town; The Ghostly Blade Family. They were a noble family full of sword fanatics. It was said that each member of the family would awaken a weapon type, almost always a sword-type, Martial Spirit. They were all extremely powerful as well. So now, not only did Khoru have to survive in a supernatural world where death was as common as eating, he also had to live up to the expectations of his overbearing family... And even worse, he was born as the illegitimate son of one of the supreme elders of the family! Fear not though, because Khoru won't fold under pressure so easily! = = = = = [Cover does not belong to me, I only edited it a bit.]

Ultimate Move

The entire stadium began to turn dark purple and corrode the ground around it. Luckily, the supreme elder was there to make sure that the mysterious substance did not spread beyond the stadium.

As it covered the entire stadium, the 8 pillars of fire that were unleashed had suddenly dissipated. Translucent black smoke began to come from within the ground and despair-filled wails could be heard from all around.

"Hollow's Descent? I've never heard of such a move in our Ghostly Blade Family!"

"Qiu Wei's father probably taught her that. It must be a secret technique!"

"It looks powerful! It even got rid of Liang Hai's fire pillars within a few seconds!"

Not a single person could remove their eyes from the dazzling scene that had occurred before them. Qiu Wei stood still with her rapier still in the air; her gaze was cold and focused on Liang Hai.

Liang Hai's expression had contorted and she didn't look so well. She grabbed her greatsword and watched helplessly as her magic was extinguished and that murky darkness flooded the entire stadium.

Suddenly, hands began to emerge from within the murky substance!

What the hell? What type of skill is this?!

Nobody could believe what they were witnessing, not even a few elders. The hands quickly turned into arms that wriggling aimlessly around the stadium, looking for something to grab hold of. There was a spot on the stadium that wasn't already corroded, so when a hand touched it, its color quickly turned dark purple and it looked as if the vitality of the ground was sucked away.

This isn't normal...

Khoru observed Qiu Wei's performance with eager eyes. He made sure to analyze everything and pay attention, because he knew he'd have to fight her one way or another.

He didn't know what kind of move she did, but he knew it was extremely dangerous.

'Liang Hai should concede before things get out of hand.' He thought to himself. He watched as the hands sucked the vitality out of anything near them, turning it dark purple or black in the process.

It was a scary thing to witness, especially first-hand.

How can I counter that?

Khoru tried to think of ways to counter such a move, but he couldn't come up with anything. If he visited the library and obtained a skill similar to that, he might have some chance of countering it.

Unfortunately, he had nothing even remotely similar to such a terrifying skill!

Khoru sighed lightly and watched as Liang Hai inevitably surrendered.

"I...concede." She said with gritted teeth. She could already see her feet beginning to turn black despite her forming a circle of magic flames around her to block that dangerous substance.

'She's stronger than I expected. I have no room for slacking off then.' Liang Hai thought as she gazed at Qiu Wei, who began to put down her rapier. She thought it was odd that Qiu Wei was given such a powerful skill and she had only just recently awakened her Martial Spirit.

How did she even achieve such results this fast?

Or perhaps...

Did she practice such a thing before she even awakened her Martial Spirit?

Many thoughts raged through Liang Hai's head, but she could do nothing right now. She waited patiently as the deathly black substance, which was like thin paint on the ground, gradually receded.

The crowd remained silent until the man spoke.

"Number 10 wins..." He said. His attention was still taken by the terrifying show of power that Qiu Wei put on. No one knew if she was just showing off to display her might, or if she was even more powerful.

They each had one thought though...

Whoever would fight her next was truly unfortunate...

They would have no choice but to concede like Liang Hai.

'For some reason, that technique seems awfully similar to something I feel like I've seen before. Maybe it's just my imagination or my mind playing tricks...' Khoru thought to himself as he observed the scene and recalled something.

'Excellent. I remember when he first created Hollow's Descent during the war years ago. It was the main reason I wasn't injured as grievously as I was meant to be. And now he's passing it on to his daughter...' The supreme elder groomed his beard and smiled.

After a while, he finally left his chair and spoke.

"We have quite a few powerful youths this time around. I'm proud of you all." He said. His words filled the parents of the kids with pride and made them feel as if they were on cloud 9.

Only Yu Xuen's father didn't feel so good about everything. He knew his son was strong, that was an undisputed fact, but Khoru had beaten him so easily.

What was it that made his son lose like that?

His mood was soured for the rest of the tournament.

Yu Xuen didn't look to good either. He was dumbfounded at the sheer amount of power that Qiu Wei released during the match.

Do you really need to use all that power?

This isn't a life and death match...

Yu Xuen felt as if some of the people competing were just monsters.

"The next match will commence after a small intermission." The supreme elder said while raising his hand.

Normally, intermissions were never called.

Regardless, Khoru's mother took the chance to congratulate Khoru on his victory. He saw her running towards him from a mile away with an amused expression.

She completely disregarded the rest of the people around her.

"You did great, Khoru! I never thought you would grow to become this strong in such a small amount of time! You all were only given a week of time to rise to your best..."

Xin Xuan gave Khoru a big hug as she spoke.

Khoru didn't mind the feeling of accomplishing something, and he was in the mood to celebrate but not yet. He still had one more person to inevitably crush!

Qiu Wei!
