The Heretic Sword God

The Heretic Sword God, The One Who Betrayed All, The Thousand-Faced God, The Jester's Blade... These were all names given to one person by the masses; Khoru. But, that's too far into the future. Let's start at Khoru's beginning, his start on the path to both supreme and unparalleled strength, and godhood... Khoru, originally someone from a distant planet known as Kale Planet, perished and reincarnated on another planet. In his next life, Khoru realized that there was a drastic difference between the two worlds. This world had supernatural powers. The people of this world could awaken supernatural beings known as 'Martial Spirits' at the age of 12. Not only would these beings aid people in their cultivation, they could even provide people with magical items or abilities. Khoru just so happened to be born into a small noble family in Yellow Apple Town; The Ghostly Blade Family. They were a noble family full of sword fanatics. It was said that each member of the family would awaken a weapon type, almost always a sword-type, Martial Spirit. They were all extremely powerful as well. So now, not only did Khoru have to survive in a supernatural world where death was as common as eating, he also had to live up to the expectations of his overbearing family... And even worse, he was born as the illegitimate son of one of the supreme elders of the family! Fear not though, because Khoru won't fold under pressure so easily! = = = = = [Cover does not belong to me, I only edited it a bit.]

Town Competition (2)

Though Khoru was nearly starstruck, he quickly found a seat and sat down to wait for the tournament to start. There were no competitor-designated seats, so no one could really tell who was participating and who wasn't. It was, although, safe to assume that only the children between 12 and 14 were competing.

After a while and once the bleacher seats were full, a man entered the stadium and stood in the middle of it with his arms spread out. He gazed at the crowd in excitement and heavy anticipation of the competition.

"Everyone! I know you're all excited for this competition, even I am! Allow me to brief everyone on the direction of the competition to prevent confusion in the future. First off, they'res one on one matches, classic and traditional. But next, there will be two on two fights, and then squad fights with members at a limit of 5! Finally, a giant battle royale will take place inside the stadium! Not only will the top 5 winners of the entire competition receive a gracious reward, they'll also be given the opportunity to go to the Purple Haze Sect!"

The crowd let out thunderous shouts that could shake the planet as the cheered in excitement. Some people were anxious, mainly the competitors, but everyone else was heavily anticipating the competition.

Khoru wasn't informed of how exactly the competition would go, so he was both puzzled and shook at the fact that not only were there more than just one on ones, but there were even two on twos, squad matches, and a battle royale!

He let out a dejected sigh and his head hung low in defeat. He already predicted a hard time during the one on one matches and now he had to deal with even more...

Most of all... Hao Jianyu!

'How is that b**ch still alive?! I clearly heard her screams echoing from inside the ruins, so why and how is she still alive? Was it all a front to trick us into believing that she died?' Cold sweat dripped down Khoru's head when he thought of how Hao Jianyu might try to get revenge.

"Alright everyone, let the town competition begin!" The man said as his voice rose. Before leaving the stadium, he turned his head and pointed at someone.

"Addresser, call out the numbers!" He said as he leaped off of the stadium and watched from on the ground. Khoru finally knew what to call the man who called out the numbers; the Addresser.

'Such a weird title but eh.' He nervously watched as the Addresser pulled on two strings that led to two large pails filled with paper slips with numbers written them. Spirit Qi ran through the strings, into the pails, and forced out a random slip of paper.

Khoru was marveled by this.

The Addresser grabbed the two slips of paper and read their numbers out loud, "Number 53 and number 26, please enter the stadium!" The crowd roared with excitement.

Two people from within the seats stood up and excitedly entered the stadium. One of them had bright pink hair that was pretty wild for a female. As for her opponent, he had ordinary black hair as well as black eyes, but that shouldn't make people underestimate him.

What he carried on his back was what really intimidated most of the people competing in the town's tournament.

Feng Xun Bane.

"Hey... T-That's Feng Xun Bane! THE Feng Xun Bane!" A livid person within the crowd suddenly shouted and his voice lingered in the ears of everyone watching the match. Their expressions quickly changed and they suddenly realized something.

Isn't that... Feng Xuan? Why does he have Feng Xun Bane?!

Feng Xun Bane was an 2nd-rank artifact, something that cultivators in the foundation building realm shouldn't even be able to get there hands on. Unless they had powerful backing, such a feat was impossible to accomplish.

"Hey, what's Feng Xun Bane?" Khoru tapped the person near him on the shoulder and asked. The person's expression suddenly turned solemn and shocked at the same time when he digested Khoru's question.

"What? You don't know what Feng Xun Bane is? One of the most powerful 2nd-ranked artifacts?! Last I heard, it was in the possession of an inner disciple of Long Haitian Palace." As the person spoke, they suddenly realized what had happened.

"No N-No way... This can't be? He was actually accepted into Long Haitian Palace? But how did he get the artifact?!" The person's voice was a little too loud so a few people beside him heard it and became equally shocked as well.

Before long the entire crowd knew of Feng Xuan's situation and what exactly was going on.

'Hmm... I've heard of artifacts and know that there are 9 ranks, but that sword doesn't feel like a 2nd-ranked artifact.' Khoru thought to himself as he observed Feng Xuan carefully. He observed his every movement alongside the way he held Feng Xun Bane.

"Are you ready big guy? I'm tired of listening to the annoying chatters of this dumbstruck crowd." The girl with the pink hair spoke as she held out her hands and brought her Martial Spirit. It appeared in the form of a yo-yo that had a deep red symbol on the middle. It gave off a baleful aura as well; opposite of the girl's personality.

Khoru's eyes shrank when he saw that.

'Oh no... That big guy is dead. Every person I've seen that uses a yo-yo is undoubtedly a beast...' Khoru felt deep admiration for any and everyone who uses a yo-yo as a weapon. A few years back during the war between families, he once saw someone from a neighboring family use a yo-yo Martial Spirit to absolutely decimate the battle field.

'I wouldn't mind having a yo-yo Martial Spirit.' He thought as he shuddered.

"I commend the bravery that you possess within that fragile body of yours." Feng Xuan said with a dark voice as he pulled out his sword.
