A spy (2)

"How can you say that about Ylvia?" She tried her best not to snap at him.

He stopped and they got down from the horse. He straightened her skirt as he spoke, "Why can't she be a spy?"

Her gaze told him she thought he was unreasonably trying to sow discord so he explained his thoughts.

"Think about it this way. Do you think it's easy for any servant to get the king and queen to bend the rules for them?"

"No."

"Of course it isn't." He closed in on her. "Yet here is a maid who the king and queen treasure so much that they would let her bring her daughter to work. For a king and queen who don't care about their daughter, you would think they would instead kick the said servant out for choosing to have a family but no, they let her bring her daughter up in the castle. They even employed the daughter while knowing most of the work would be done by her mother until she is old enough, hence paying her for basically doing nothing."
