9 Chapter 7 Amelia Walker

On the lectern, the teacher mumbled on, sounding like a lullaby to Helen, who couldn't concentrate at all. These forty-five minutes felt like torture to her.

Can you imagine a 24-year-old adult sitting in a classroom with a bunch of 14-year-olds?

Helen closed the textbook in front of her angrily, propping up her chin with her hand and daydreaming.

Whether it was the teachers or the classmates, they were no longer surprised by her reactions. It would be strange if Helen were serious about anything!

But who cares? As long as the Blair Family continues to pour money into the school every year, she remains the teacher's favorite student. At the end of each year, the teacher would turn a blind eye and let her continue her studies without failing and getting held back.

Out of boredom, Helen's eyes landed on her female classmate Sofia Wood who was sitting at the front right.

Sofia was of average appearance and had a middle-class background compared to the rest of the school. She was an obscure type in class. She had never caught Helen's attention before, but many years later, she became the most famous among their classmates.

She became famous because she had an impressive mother. Her mother was also from a wealthy background and married a man of equal social status. Despite being married, her mother was still very capable and held an important position in her own family's company. When her mother learned that her husband had another woman, she quickly drove the woman away and bravely divorced her husband, causing him a lot of losses. Her resolute and decisive actions made her a winner.

Helen couldn't help but think of her own mother, also born wealthy, who won her marriage war and guarded her interests well. However, her mother was unaware of her husband's affair and eventually lost her life.

Why was there such a stark contrast? Helen took advantage of her free time to ponder this question seriously.

The malice of Sebastian Carter and Amelia Walker was obviously the most important reason.

But what about her mother? Was she completely blameless?

Her mother had always relied on others, her father before marriage and her husband after. Even though she had vast wealth, she couldn't change her inherent dependence. She had never made any effort, nor did she ever think of making an effort. She had entrusted all her possessions to others.

Such passivity naturally led to her being controlled by others. She lived in her small world, unable to see the outside world, and consequently, wasn't perceptive. With everything always going smoothly in her life, her psychological resilience was poor. The moment her little world encountered problems, it felt like the end of the world to her.

She had lived like a princess since childhood, and the princess was naturally controlled by others. Sofia's mother was like a queen, so she controlled others!

Would she follow in her mother's footsteps, continuing to live a muddled life as a princess, beholden to others for the rest of her life?

No... no, since she had been reborn, she had to become a queen like Sofia's mother, someone who could fully control herself and even others!

But first, she had to have what it takes to be a queen!

By studying well, she would have the means to be independent. No amount of wealth can replace the wisdom in one's mind.

And studying is the foundation of gaining wisdom.

Helen sat up straight and opened her textbook again, mocking herself,

It shouldn't be too difficult for her 24-year-old self to start over.

Concentrating all day left Helen quite exhausted. By the time school was over, she felt a little dizzy.

Through the wall-facing window, Helen saw Ethan Howard coming towards her classroom. She knew he was looking for her without even thinking. Uninterested in making small talk with him, she quickly packed her things and left through the back door before he entered. Then she called her driver to bring the car to the front of the building.

The car moved slowly, and through the rear window, she could see Ethan searching for her.

Helen gave a cold smile and turned her head.

She leaned back on the seat in the car, closing her eyes to rest.

Tonight, she had a tough battle to fight.

Facing Amelia Walker and her mother was one of the most unbearable things in the world for her, but she had no choice but to face them as if nothing was wrong.

When she arrived home, Sebastian Carter hadn't arrived yet. Helen went upstairs to her room and changed into a more appropriate outfit. Soon after, she heard car horns outside the window, indicating that Sebastian and Amelia had arrived.

She was about to go downstairs when she thought, 'Why should I rush to greet them as if they are so important?' With that thought, she sat back down and waited for the maid to come get her.

The sound of them entering the hall downstairs reached her ears, followed by Auntie Eva's voice, "Master is back."

Helen couldn't help but chuckle. Auntie Eva was indeed a treasure. Out of everyone in the house, she was the only one who consistently addressed Sebastian as "Master." He couldn't do anything about it since she had been with the Blair Family the longest. He must have a great expression on his face in front of Amelia.

As expected, Sebastian's annoyed voice rang out, "Where's Miss?"

"Miss just came back and is upstairs."

"Tell her to come down, our guest has arrived."

Soon enough, a maid came up to call her downstairs.

She could have chosen not to go downstairs and let Amelia and her mother feel embarrassed, but other than allowing them to receive more sympathy from her father, how would that benefit the overall situation?

Helen went downstairs.

Sebastian and the two others were standing in the hall, with Sebastian handing his suit to a servant. Amelia and Ruby Carter were standing beside him.

As Amelia saw her, she stepped forward with a gentle smile on her face, "Helen, we meet again. How are you?"

Helen took several deep breaths to maintain the calmness on her face.

She quietly observed Amelia.

At this point, Amelia was only 36 years old. Although her status couldn't be revealed for so many years, she had been well taken care of by Sebastian. She ostensibly ran a boutique clothing store, but her lifestyle was not supported by this store's income.

Due to her leisurely life, she was well-maintained and looked to be in her early thirties at most. She was at the peak of her beauty as a woman.

Frankly speaking, Amelia was indeed more attractive than Helen's mother Isabella by a significant margin. With an enchanting face and slim figure, she was the type of woman who could easily make a man fall in love at first sight. Her daughter Ruby had also inherited her mother's traits as she grew up.

"I'm fine," Helen replied with a faint smile as she looked at her.

From now on, she would be well, and this time, Amelia wouldn't be able to harm her!
