~~~(POV: Alexander Aevum)~~~
~~~(Age: 12 Years)~~~

Sister Beth and Sister Bella talking with the kids downstairs pulls me from my thoughts. They've been extra busy since more kids have been left, as all orphans are. It's starting to get crowded around here.

I've noticed that money has started to become a serious problem. It was bad before, but they always managed to scrape by with what they got in donations.

I don't need legilimency to see the stress they're under. I've been thinking of ways to help them. Doing my best to come up with schemes that don't involve magic. The underage wizard laws make it difficult to use any magic.

"Weston! Don't hit your sister like that!"

"But she ate the food on my plate that I hadn't got to yet!!"

"That's no excuse to hurt your blood. Now, apologize. The both of you."

The voices I'm hearing from downstairs illustrate my point. A short sigh escapes me at the debacle we're in. Beth and Bella are the parents I never had.

I owe them more than I could ever repay. They took me in, loved me, fed me, educated me. I'd be dead, just like my parents, if it weren't for them. It goes without saying I feel I have a duty to help them.

I've tried being open about it. My attempts were shot down immediately. They said I wasn't responsible for the finances of the orphanage.

They love saying my job is to be a kid and enjoy my youth. My response to that logic is always the same. How can I enjoy my childhood when the people I care about most struggle beyond reason? I'm not sitting idly by and letting them struggle.

It's not like people go around hiring people 12 and under. Besides, Beth and Bella would notice my absence during the day. The only solution I can think of right now is something I can only do away from the orphanage.

When I'm at Hogwarts, I can put the plan into effect, but based on what's going on. The orphanage won't last long enough to reach that point.

"Magic allows many answers to my problems, but that's off the table... The Ministry is always monitoring young wizards. Once or twice can be chalked up to accidents, but reoccurring incidents are a pattern."

How can I make it seem like it's not a pattern? Is there a way to fool the Ministry... A temporary solution can come from one of the two attempts I'm open to.

I'm not someone to stake a gamble on one or two chances. However, that's the only option I've got. I'd find a better solution if I knew more about the Ministry and its laws. As it is now, I can only do my best based on what I know.

Since I'm alone, I gently pull my wand out of my trunk and channel some of my magic. I'll get in trouble if I do it more than twice.

I'm talented when it comes to the magical world I've come to know, but pulling off Chrysopoeia has never been done by someone my age. Let alone by anyone other than someone who has the Sorcerer's Stone.

Nicolas Flamel was capable of doing it using said stone. When I found Harry after his fight with Voldemort and Quirrell, the Sorcerer's Stone was there. I pocketed it and gave it to Albus when he talked to me.

If I had known a situation such as the one we're in would occur, I would've studied it for the brief time I had it in my possession. I experienced the magic power in the stone when I held it. I've got a very crude understanding of its power.

However, I don't know the repercussions of what I'm about to do. If Albus or the Sisters knew I was trying something so foolish, I'd be reprimanded beyond belief.

Those are risks I'm willing to take. The people I care about need me, and I'm not letting them down when I'm the only one that can solve this problem. One could argue that asking Albus for help is a better solution.

That comes with its own problems, though. As much as he's my friend, there is only so much you can ask of others.

"Alright, here's to hoping I don't screw this up..."

My hands dig through my trunk and find what I'm looking for. It's a novel chuck of iron. I found it when I was eight and always thought it was cool. So I kept it; who knew it'd come in handy here?

Time to use my knowledge in alchemy and what Albus has taught me since I started my life as a wizard.

My eyes reread the report I've gotten from the Ministry again. I've been rereading it since it got here this morning. There are moments in your life when you come across extraordinary people. I'm fortunate enough to be teaching such a person.

Alex has always been one to take his talents and run with them. Improving in ways that are unnatural for someone his age. When I discovered his connection to the Elder Wand and the Deathly Hollows, I knew his journey had only started.

He's still unaware of such connections. Only the symbol of the Deathly Hollows is branded on the back of his neck. That's all I've revealed to him. It's only a matter of time before he'll start looking for answers himself.

I'm unsure of his destiny. Too bright for me to see. All I know is he'll only continue improving.

Minerva is here with me, looking at a copy of the report. She has a concerned look on her features. She's always been one to restrict Alex. Trying to show him discipline.

I leave that to her since Alex is part of House Gryffindor. He is her responsibility.

"Albus... If death eaters find out what he's done... They'll come for him... Come for his creation..."

There is a solemness in her voice as she rereads the report. The Ministry wanted to punish Alex, but I intervened. I used my influence to save him from expulsion and banishment from the wizarding world.

A look of fear and frustration takes root in Minerva, and she stands up with a vigor only a Gryffindor will have.

"How is this possible, Albus!!? He's just a boy! How could he do it!!?"

Her voice is elevated with the same concern and discipline she shows students when she deems it necessary.

I couldn't say with confidence how or why he succeeded. The Ministry has already confiscated his creation and destroyed it, but I'm positive it was a means to an end for Alex.

The only reason he'd make something like that during a moment when he'd certainly feel the fallout is true desperation. Not only that, it's completely random. I've spoken at great length with Alex, and he's never mentioned the need or desire for such power.

"When he arrives on the first of next month, I'll be sure to ask him his reasons. But I have a feeling it has something to do with the orphanage. External factors, not internal ones, usually drive Alex."

Alex is a very calm and thoughtful individual, from what I've seen. He wouldn't do something so reckless unless external reasons caused him to. Still, it's something to keep an eye on.

Minerva straightens her back and leaves for the exit. She cares about Alex more than she lets on. His antics and behaviors, while unbecoming for a student of the time, have rubbed off on her.

She's taken a liking to his particular brand of disregard and disobeying the rules. No one is ever harmed by it except house point. That's changing this year, though. He was warned at the end of last year.

Once Minerva is gone, my thoughts drift to the Aevum family itself. I've still been looking into them. All I've discovered is they're a very, very old wizarding house. Older than all the sacred 28. For how long, specifically, it still eludes me.

His guardians, Sisters Beth and Bella, had little information to give me. Telling me he's always been different.

I lift the paper again and reread its contents for a final time today.

[Albus, I don't know what's possessing you to protect the boy so fervently. However, you're demands have been met, despite the Ministry's wishes. This is the only time this will work. How he created another Sorcerer's Stone is ludicrous.]

Alex's talent for magic and the wizarding world is far beyond anything I've seen. Even greater than Tom's.

[We've destroyed his creation due to its danger and power. However, the knowledge he holds is something we can never take away. I hope you know what you're doing, old friend.]

[From your friend, James Duvale]

When the students arrive in a few days, I'll be ready to question Alex. I highly doubt anything nefarious occurred. Knowing him as I do, his reason will be one many could agree with.
