Chapter 5. Do You Want To Be My Daddy, Uncle?

"Promise is just for ten minutes," Jocelin asserted.

Jeremiah immediately stood up and straightened his clothes before pulling Jocelin into his embrace.

"I forgot to introduce her to you; she's my fiancée, Jocelin Thambrin," Jeremiah exclaimed, smiling triumphantly.

"What? Fiancée? Then why did you go on a blind date with me if you already have a fiancée?" the woman exclaimed loudly and angrily.

"Well, I just wanted to meet you. There's nothing wrong if it turns out you're better, then I'll leave this woman next to me," Jeremiah replied casually.

'Evil-hearted,' Jocelin thought, shocked by Jeremiah's response.

"But you can see for yourself, the woman next to me can't leave me alone. She really likes me, that's why she's sticking to me," Jeremiah taunted Jocelin.

Jocelin gave him a deadly stare while pinching the back of Jeremiah's thigh.

'Rude,' Jocelin thought, annoyed.

The woman in front of them finally lost her temper.

"You jerk!" she exclaimed, storming off in a burst of emotions.

Now Jeremiah and Jocelin became the center of attention in the restaurant. When the woman was seen leaving the restaurant, Jeremiah immediately pushed Jocelin away from his embrace and returned to his usual grumpy demeanor.

"You seem very experienced, it looks like you often use this tactic with other men you chase and deceive," Jeremiah remarked.

"I'm just helping you get out of that trouble; I hope you can be professional and keep your promise," Jocelin replied, choosing not to respond to Jeremiah's comment.

"I don't have free time today; come back tomorrow at 11 a.m.," Jeremiah said, then walked away.

While watching Jeremiah leave, Jocelin suddenly remembered that she had an appointment tomorrow at 11 a.m. Jocelin sighed in annoyance but decided to come earlier tomorrow so that her next task wouldn't be disrupted.

Jocelin was now at the hospital with her son, taking a damp cloth to clean her son's face before bedtime.

"Kiel, tomorrow you'll have surgery, don't be afraid because mama has brought the best doctor who can definitely cure you because he's a very great doctor. Okay?" Jocelin exclaimed with a smile, although she felt sad imagining Kiel having to undergo surgery at a young age.

"I'm not afraid, mama. Daddy Ronald says I'm a strong and brave kid. Besides, I still have to protect mama when I grow up," Jehezkiel said with a sweet smile.

"Ah, do you really want to protect mama? Well then, if that's the case, mama will rely on Kiel in the future. So, Kiel has to grow up to be a great, smart, and healthy kid," Jocelin explained while using the damp cloth to wipe Kiel's feet and hands.

"Mama, if my surgery goes very well this time, can I ask for a gift?" Kiel asked.

"What gift do you want, Kiel?" Jocelin stopped and asked.

"I want a dad," Kiel replied.

Jocelin was momentarily silent upon hearing that but then asked questions to divert the topic.

"Why? Did you suddenly feel like you don't have enough with mama's presence? Mama's heart feels sad hearing that," Jocelin asked again, wiping her son's feet.

"Ah, whenever I talk about this, mama always reacts like this, sensitive," Kiel said softly but also jokingly.

"Are you calling mama sensitive? Who are you referring to as sensitive, huh? Who..who?" Jocelin asked, tickling her son's feet.

"Okay..okay now, Kiel, go to sleep," Jocelin continued, pretending to hold a pistol to Kiel's chest as a sign for him to sleep.

"But I'm serious, mama, the other kids have dads," Jehezkiel said.

Jocelin fell silent again and couldn't answer Kiel's smiling remarks. Jocelin covered Kiel with a blanket and told him to sleep. Kiel obeyed and closed his eyes to sleep.

The next day,

Jeremiah had to be at the hospital early in the morning for a routine checkup as yesterday's results were not good, so he had to regularly check his condition.

"Entering the hospital up to three times a week, how do you think I can explain all this to the big boss?" Hardy asked in panic with the results obtained.

"Isn't the examination results good enough? Don't exaggerate; my results are still stable, so just report to your boss about it," Jeremiah replied.

"Oh, and at 11 a.m. Jocelin will come to discuss our cooperation, clear my schedule," Jeremiah continued.

"Okay, anything else you want to report? If not, I want to go to the bathroom, my stomach has been hurting since earlier," Hardy said, holding his stomach.

"Go ahead," Jeremiah said, letting Hardy deal with his stomach problem first.

Jeremiah sat in the lobby playing with his phone. On the other side, Jehezkiel, who liked to walk around the hospital, suddenly stopped when he saw a man he recognized from the last time he met.

"Uncle, are you here again?" Kiel asked with a sweet smile.

Jeremiah, hearing someone calling him, looked up and found Jocelin's son standing in front of him.

"Do you know me?" Jeremiah asked casually.

"Of course, my mom talked to you last time we met," Kiel explained, now sitting next to Jeremiah.

"What's your name? We haven't been properly introduced," Jeremiah replied politely.

"My name is Jehezkiel; what's your name, uncle?" Kiel asked.

"Jeremiah," Jeremiah replied, shaking Kiel's hand.

"By the way, uncle, are you married?" Kiel asked spontaneously.

Jeremiah, hearing that, was suddenly surprised and curious about the meaning of the little boy's question. He suspected that Jocelin had asked her son to ask him that.

"No, I've never been married," Jeremiah said.

"Do you have a girlfriend, uncle?" Kiel asked again.

Jeremiah frowned, appearing curious but not bothered. If Jocelin had intentionally used her son to ask that question, it meant Jocelin was quite cowardly in Jeremiah's eyes.

"No, I don't have a girlfriend," Jeremiah replied again.

"Well, that's good then. Uncle, do you want to be my dad?" Kiel asked happily.

Jeremiah's mind was filled with so many questions at this moment; he couldn't understand the little boy's train of thought at all.

"Nephew, where are your dad and mom?" Jeremiah asked, trying to piece together what was happening.

"If uncle agrees to be my dad, then uncle is my dad," Kiel replied with a big smile.

"Nephew, let me tell you, you shouldn't casually call someone else 'dad.' Your dad would be sad if you don't consider him a father," Jeremiah explained, still aware that Jocelin had married a doctor at the hospital and already had a son.

"I don't have a dad, but mama always says my dad is very handsome. And I think uncle is quite handsome and very suitable to be my dad, that's why

I stopped in front of uncle," Kiel explained.

Hearing the explanation, many questions arose in Jeremiah's mind again.

"Is this child born out of wedlock from Jocelin and the doctor? Or did Jocelin deliberately take him from an orphanage? But why does this child keep arguing about not having a dad when he already has a doctor as a dad?" Jeremiah thought, wondering.
