The Birthday Party

CHAPTER THREE

Samantha

Hearing what Chris said was a shock to me, he and Kay had already had already kissed and now dating. I joined the group pretending like I didn't hear what he had said and he couldn't stop staring, why is he staring, why is he giving me all these flags and making me confused!!!

It's Kay birthday today, I am in my room laying on the bed with my face looking up to the ceiling. Do I really need to be there, I don't think I could bear seeing Chris and Kay together. While I was thinking my phone kept buzzing, I had a message from Blessing and Oliver..?

Bless( o˘ ³˘)❤: Sam I'm sorry something urgent came up I won't be at the party. Love ya.

I opened Oliver's text

Oliver***: hey, I know you're going to the party, care to be my date, I will pick you up by 6:30. Call later

This made my heart skip a bit, a date , wtf, it is the first time someone is going to ask me to be his date. It's already 5:40pm and I haven't prepared yet!

Later, i and Oliver drove to the party, it had already started, many of our school mates were there and then I sighted the Celebrant. I told Oliver i will be back and I headed to where Kay was "Kay!, happy birthday" I said to her while i handed the gift i had prepared. It is a huge chocolate,one of my favorite.

With her devilish look she said "thanks I don't know you would make it " she said shouting because the music was loud. As I was about to say something, she shouted "Chris, welcome boyfriend" I stood there unable to turn to look at Chris who was behind me now. I tried avoiding him and taking a step but "Sam don't go yet, you know Chris is my boyfriend now" Kay said and I had no choice to turn but I avoided looking at Chris. Kay left Chris with me and Chris tried initiating a conversation "How are yo-"

"Sam care for a drink?, I got you one" Oliver interrupted us and I was glad. I took the drink from him with a bright smile and walked away with him.

The party was going well with Oliver's company, a slow spanish song came up and everyone in the room was happy to dance, as I sit observing and playing with the champagne cup in my hand, I felt a hand crawl at my back and held my waist, it was Oliver's. I looked at him and he stretched his right hand towards me "dance with me Ms Samantha"

On the dance floor, I and Oliver's body was swaying, going with the music rhythm, he is a very good dancer but my mind was not focused on our dance, as we dance, I stare at Chris who was dancing with Kay but his eyes were shooting daggers, if only look could kill I guess I and Oliver would be dead. For some reason I enjoyed this ,I guess I'm not the only one who's attracted to the other.

"I need to talk to you after the party, I got you a surprise" Oliver said which brought me back to reality then I said okay to him. The music died down and everyone took their seat. Suddenly, Kay's voice echoed through the microphone which got everyone's attention. She announced "thank you all for coming,I really appreciate this and I'm happy because this is my last year of being a teen. I will like to introduce my boyfriend to you all" she then walked towards where Chris was seated and at this moment my heart was about to burst,I started shivering and my eyes got all teary, nooo I am going to lose him, I am about to lose Chris, as I stood up to meet Chris and tell him my feelings

"I can't be your boyfriend Kay, stop forcing yourself on me and acting all clingy", this made me stop between my steps and watched how Chris left the party room after he said that to Kay. Everyone gasped as Kay feel to the ground feeling devastated and I went to help her up but she pushed me away and looked like I was the cause of her misfortune. I quickly ran out to meet Chris and scold him why he would react that way and embarrase Kay but deep down I just wanted to hug him and let out what I feel. Unknownly, Oliver was after me too.
