His eyes dimmed, making Daphne feel almost guilty for what she had just said.

"You can't even feel anything." 

He pressed her hand to his chest. As usual, there was only stillness. 

"Maybe you just can't feel it." Korbin mumbled, but she didn't hear what he had said. A loud knock against the door drowned out all of his words. 

"There's a delivery for the Princess of Eversun." A shrill voice sounded from outside the door. 

Daphne immediately recoiled, the sound dragging her back to reality. 

What had she been thinking? 

Her fingers were still in a slightly curved shape, and she could feel a drop of sticky liquid at the tip of her thumbs.
