The question itself did surprise Mattheus nonetheless.

Not it being asked, as he had been waiting for someone to wonder about his opinion for ages. Even Brunilda hadn't really asked Mattheus, which had surprised him.

But then, he supposed the cat had been able to read his heart when it came to the topic and knew better to bring it up…

Because the twenty-year-old discovered he didn't know the answer to that question.

Mentally, he might have been a few years older than his current physical age but their stages in life were similar. In fact, he could argue the Original knew what he was doing more, even if what he wanted to do was throw the world into chaos and watch it burn.
