1 Prologue

The moon illuminated the night skies, the wind danced like it was welcoming the descent of gods.

A young lady in a red dress ran through the forest, her breathing heavy and her mouth dry.

She has been running away from someone or something in this dense forest.

The rustled leaves alerted her that they were getting closer, she had no time to rest and picked up running once again, her adrenaline the only thing that was fuelling her.

"I caught you!" A man dressed in casual clothing emerged behind her, wrapping his arms around her lower torso but all this made her do was giggle. They were high school students messing around.

"It is not fair! You always win Stefan!" The lady exclaimed, but Stefan's warm embrace did enough to calm her down, her sweat soaking through his shirt but Stefan didn't mind.

"That's because wherever you are, I will always find you, Rachel," Stefan responded and these words were comforting, to say the least, Rachel flushed red the moment she heard these words.

"You have such a sweet mouth! I hope you don't talk to other girls like this!" Rachel blurted out, Stefan couldn't contain his laugh and Rachel was embarrassed the moment he did.

"Are you jealous?" Stefan asked but Rachel chose not to speak, she kept quiet.

He pushed her up against a tree and his hands began to wander, he could feel the heat emanating from her body.

"You don't need to be jealous, you're the only girl I do these things with," Stefan said, Rachel doubted this but there was something comforting about his saying this even if it was a lie.

"You just want to get into my pants…" Rachel correctly guessed and Stefan stopped everything he was doing and looked her right in the eyes.

"Do I look like other guys?" Stefan asked her, hoping for a favorable response.

"You do Stefan, you look exactly like other guys!" Rachel fired back and Stefan burst out laughing, he couldn't believe Rache would say such a cruel thing to him.

Stefan clutched his chest dramatically, stumbling backward.

"RACHEL! YOU HAVE BROKEN MY HEART!" Stefan screamed and Rachel couldn't contain her laugh either.

"H-Hush! People will hear us!" Rachel said; she loved that Stefan wasn't only interested in her body even though she knew he was interested nonetheless.

"Or worse, monsters…" Stefan joked and Rachel nudged him lightly.

"Stop it! It is not funny!" Rachel was scared, she didn't like it when Stefan messed around with jokes like this.

"You don't have to be scared, I will protect you!" Stefan said but soon after saying that, the leaves behind them rustled. Rachel immediately clung to Stefan's arm.

"W-Who is there?" Stefan stuttered because in reality, he was equally as frightened as Rachel but his request fell silent and before he knew it, something jumped out from the bushes.

It was a rabbit, Stefan heaved a loud sigh of relief only to hear Rachel giggle beside him.

"What's so funny?" Stefan asked with a smile, trying to maintain his macho demeanor.

"You were more afraid than I was!" Rachel gloated but Stefan disagreed with this.

"Y-You don't know what you're talking about!" Stefan fired back but all she could do was laugh, this was why she liked Stefan

"I think we should get out of here…" Stefan suggested, turning to leave but what came next was a splatter of blood staining the surrounding trees.

"AAARRRGGGHHH!" Rachel screamed and the view before her was the headless standing body of Stefan being held up by a figure that was obstructed by the swaying leaves that shielded them from the moonlight.

Rachel's fight-or-flight instinct kicked in and she chose flight.

"Damn it, he was not alone." A man with a deep voice said, taking out his fangs from Stefan's gushing body, but despite not being hungry, the creature knew it could not let Rachel live. It did not enjoy its meal because Stefan had the most common blood group in the world and that was their equivalent of a flat cola. This had quickly turned into a horrid evening, one of the most traumatic events for Rachel but it was about to get worse.

"Hey… You shouldn't be doing that," A voice said, it had the same bass as the one that had just killed but it was a lot more authoritative.

"That scent…" The blood-soaked vampire thought to itself, the man that had just spoken was a fellow vampire like him but this scent felt familiar.

Stepping into the moonlight from the shadows, what came into light was a blonde-haired vampire with crimson-red eyes and a menacing aura.

"I know you!" The vampire that killed Stefan blurted out but his calm expression was broken and one of fear soon replaced it.

"You are the vampire that hunts vampires!" This realization forced him to immediately try and retreat but that was not possible because the only thing that left that position was his body, not his head. The difference in their ability was that vast as he had been decapitated before he even realized that he was without a head.

"Vampire hunter? That's vulgar, we're in the 21st century. Please, call me Dante," The man said to the disintegrating head in his hand.
