3 Chapter 3: A Warning

The sun was setting when Emma, Samantha, Alex, and Jake pulled up to a gas station on the outskirts of town. They had been planning their trip to the abandoned mansion in Ravenswood for weeks, and they were eager to get there.

As they filled up their tank, an old man with a grizzled face approached them. "You kids shouldn't be going to Ravenswood," he warned, his voice gravelly with age. "That place is cursed, and it's not safe for anyone to go there."

The teenagers exchanged a glance and stifled a laugh. "Thanks for the warning, old man," Alex said with a smirk. "But we're not afraid of a few ghosts."

The old man shook his head. "Suit yourselves, but don't say I didn't warn you," he said before shuffling back into the station.

As they left the gas station, the teenagers joked about the old man's warning. "Can you believe that guy?" Jake said, rolling his eyes. "He probably just wants to scare us away so he can keep the mansion to himself."

The others laughed and nodded in agreement as they drove off towards Ravenswood. But as they got closer, the road grew narrower and the trees became thicker. Suddenly, the car jolted as it hit a pothole.

"What the hell was that?" Samantha exclaimed as they looked out the window. To their surprise, the gas station was nowhere to be seen. In its place stood a ruined station that looked like it hadn't been used in years.

"What the hell is going on?" Alex said, looking around in confusion.

"I don't know, but I don't like this," Emma replied, feeling a shiver run down her spine.

Despite their unease, the teenagers continued towards the mansion. But as they approached the Mansion. Emma saw a ghostly figure with empty, black holes for eyes standing at the window close to the entrance door to the mansion. She froze in fear, but eventually, the figure disappeared, and the door unlocks and opens slowly.

"Maybe the old man was right," Emma said her voice trembling. "Maybe this place is cursed."won't be a crybaby Em," Samantha said.

"Didn't you see the door open slowly or do you want to tell me that it's just a breeze?" Emma

said as sweet drops came down her face because that was no breeze. I mean the door was locked.

"You can go back if you want. No one is going to stop you." Samantha said as she enters the mansion.

"Come on Em, it's going to be fun, I promise, and don't worry I will protect you," Jake says as he stretches his hands for Emma to take. She hesitated a little and then holds his hand as they both entered the mansion. As they entered the mansion the door slammed shut.
