Unexpected Encounter

Endra had used a strange power to deal with the two unknown Devas who were targeting him since he knew relying on just his power would only lead to one result which was his death.

The aftereffects, however, were terrible and he spent two weeks recuperating after passing out for a week. Fortunately for him, he was able to reach his isolated house before he lost consciousness and the enforcers were not able to track his trail.

It had been months now though and Endra had gone back to his usual business. He was in black shorts since the first one was ruined during his unlucky encounter back then and that really irritated him since changing to a new short meant increase in his expenses and for a prig like him, every coin matters.

Endra had left his house and was treading in the forest, it was afternoon and the weather was faintly cloudy and lightning would zap in the sky occasionally. He entered deep into the forest where he saw his first target.

It was a group of four hunters in crude clothes armed with simple and old looking weapons.

The first guy who was the closest to Endra's hiding spot and also seemed to be the youngest who looked like a youth in his late twenties had an old dagger hanging around his waist and his dirty black hair tried in hiding his young features.

The one next to the first guy was holding a short axe, stout physique, and a bald head with a very obvious eye bag, his thirty-something face was that of irritation and he would occasionally curse.

As for the last two, one had long messy grey hair and he was armed with a long sword which from a glance one would know that it was in a bad shape, he looked fifty being the second oldest apart from their leader who had a rusty shotgun with a bald head giving the mid fifties outlook.

'' They are all mortals. '' Endra observed as they walked at a fast pace and loud chatter coming from the youngest among the group.

'' Lin behave yourself. '' The man with the long sword reprimanded as he faced the young lad whose name he just called, Lin. '' I heard the enforcers have not caught the perpetrator yet, I hope we don't end up meeting him. ''

'' Hey, old man don't jinx us. '' Lin retorted in his playful and loud voice not giving much thought to what one of his teammates just said.

'' Even mortals are becoming extra wary. '' Endra mumbled silently. '' I should change location soon. ''

This would be expected as the EDF agents had yet to catch the one behind the dozen of murders. Endra decided against using a discreet approach to steal from them since everyone now was cautious of any stranger they met in the forest. He was going to do an upfront robbery quickly before the EDF agents caught the wind.

A shimmering light appeared underneath his foot and his speed rose by levels that mortals could not compare to.

He suddenly appeared in front of Lin and the latter slid smashing his bum on the ground.

'' What the... '' Lin was scared and surprised when he saw someone appearing before him and he wanted to curse but he stopped halfway not out of minding his language but because he was made to.

'' thwark'' A staff hit his head with a force he could not describe. He felt his brain wriggling with dizziness but before he could fully register what was happening, another strike hit his head which made him finally lose consciousness.

Before the others could even think of setting their defense, they were attacked with a speed that their body could not react to. Some minutes later they were all laying unconsciously on the ground.

'' Twat '' He spat in irritation when he counted his loot. '' Fifteen Ezarr. ''

'' Fucking poor people. '' He cursed while kicking one of them.

'' Um? '' Endra turned in a particular direction when he felt something.

'' What's with this Ki disturbance. '' He wondered. '' Marble rank if my guess is right. ''

One would expect Endra to escape at this conclusion but no, he instead headed for the source of the disturbance.

'' It will take a while before the enforcers feel it too due to the distance and even more before they get here. '' His brain calculated. '' I'd just see if I can steal some benefits if there is any and get my ass out of there. ''

About fifteen minutes later, Endra arrived at the spot of the Ki disturbance but the scene that welcome him was the complete opposite of what he imagined.

There was no Marble rank battle anywhere, not even a mortal battle, the only scene here was corpses scattered everywhere.

Hundred of red rhinos, a lady and a boy who appeared to be around his age He checked the lady first and saw a deep gash on her neck region.

'' Quartz rank. '' He muttered as he felt the remnants Ki that still lingered on the corpse. '' And murdered with a sharp weapon, a Zajra possibly. '' Endra analyzed with just a few glance.

'' Damn you old witch. '' His forehead crisped. '' Not even a penny. ''

He turned and went for the boy's corpse but paused when he got close and felt a faint but irregular breathing coming from the boy with a pale colour as a pool of blood surrounded him.

It didn't change anything for Endra though, alive or dead he would just grab any valuable on him and ghost this place.

He froze though when his hand touched something he only heard in legends, his hand started shaking in excitement and his eyes shone with greed.

'' Jackpot. '' He yelled in his mind as his still shaky hands caressed the card he was holding.

'' Change of plan, I'm saving this fucker here. ''

Endra knew there was no time to waste and the EDF agents would soon reach this position so he quickly touched the two wound's on the boy's body and the bleeding temporarily stopped.

He grabbed the body and with a lot of effort he put him on his back while panting heavily. Shimmering light again appeared underneath his feet and he started sprinting back to his place as if there was no weight on his back.

Thirty minutes later, he opened his old house and dropped the body, which was that of Zeralf on an old black bed.

He saw that the boy's condition was worsening especially after the sprint to his place and he now had a very conflicting thought.

'' Screw it, I'll just use them, you had better be useful white haired. ''

He turned around and entered another room that looked like an old store. He grabbed three bottles resting on the wooden table and dashed back to where he laid his patient.

He pressed the kid's cheek forcefully opening his mouth and he poured the contents of the three bottles directly into his mouth. The blue liquid substance entered Zeralf's mouth, minutes later his condition stabilized and he regained some colour.

'' It's now left to you. '' Hu muttered. '' Don't you even think of dying and ruining my plan, I'll kill you again and again. '' He said and left.

Minutes turned to hours and hours turned into days. Endra will cook for both of them while feeding Zeralf with liquid nutrients.

On the fifth day, Zeralf eyes opened weakly which drew Endra's attention.

'' You're finally awake white haired. ''
