Almost Time to Break Free
Mei Xing woke up with an aching body. To add to this hardship, she had a pounding headache since she did not dry her long ash brown hair before falling asleep last night. However, Mei Xing was used to waking up this way for the last 3 years.
She threw two pills in her mouth to help with the pain and swallowed them before getting up to brush her teeth. She took a long shower and picked out an outfit to cover her bruises: High-waisted dark jeans and a maroon knitted sweater. She tucked the front of the sweater into her jeans as she walked toward her vanity.
Mei Xing had gotten a black eye, so she needed to apply makeup. She turned on some music as she covered the evidence of her father's abuse. The song "Hourglass of Memories" by G.E.M TANG began to play.
"The puzzle pieces all disappoint

Mei Xing sighed. Just a little longer until she could escape this hellhole of a home. Since she was 17, there wasn't much she could do to escape her father. She couldn't just pick up and leave since she was still a minor. Mei Xing also couldn't call for help because no one would believe her. After all, her father was technically rich since he took all her mother's inheritance after she died, and no one would believe that the "pampered" daughter of a rich man would be abused. Huh, what idiots. Whatever, in 2 weeks, she would turn 18. Then she would be a legal adult, free from her father at last.
The thought of freedom put a small faint smile of Mei Xing's face. She finished applying her makeup and picked up her designer bag. Her father always made sure to provide her with such luxuries to keep up the illusion of a pampered daughter.
She left her empty house and headed off to Star Academy where she attended high school. Her ultimate goal was to one day become a star in order to gain fame. Once she had enough money and fame, she could get her payback.

Hello everyone, it's your girl, the author. I just want to thank everyone that has read up to this point. I know there aren't many of you, but since this is my first novel, I am happy that I even got 5 views to be honest. I actually just hit 400 views (it might not seem like a lot to most of you, but that means like the world to me.) I just really want to thank all of you, even if it seems cheesy haha. So down to business, in case you haven't noticed, the story is progressing a bit slowly. I would like to apologize for this issue. I realize that authors usually don't go into a character's backstory until like the middle of the novel, but I'm new at this and I had no idea how to start this story or later incorporate Mei Xing's origin. Also, for everyone who is anxious to meet our Handsome CEO, please understand that I am trying my best to get there. However, I have hit a bump in the road: I can't find a good name for him. I know it sounds ridiculous but Chinese is not my first language and I want to find a good name for him.
