'This thing is built like a tank' I thought as I dodged the armored behemoth's attacks with the mace.

The knight in front of me was almost four times my size in height and twice as wide as me. But what he had in strength and defense he lacked in speed. Even without the use of my aura, I could move fast enough to weave and dodge the attacks with the massive mace.

Every single time it raised its mace to the sky in preparation for its next attack it left me a wide opening to attack. And so, trusting in my speed I ran towards it and swung my nail at its body. But as the nail struck the armor all it was capable of doing was bouncing back.

"Oh crap." I said out loud before quickly jumping to the side to dodge another mace attack.

I wasn't sure if the knight had taken any damage from the attack since it hadn't even flinched. And the armor looked absolutely fine as if I hadn't even touched it. So to my dismay, I could only assume that I hadn't hurt the knight at all.

"Hey, bud! How about we calm down for a moment and talk it out? I'm sure this is all just a big misunderstanding!" I screamed while running circles around the room but the knight ignored all of my words and kept on swinging.

'Is this another one of the husks?' I thought for a moment before my eyes opened wide.

The gigantic knight had pulled back his mace before striking the ground and sending a white shockwave in my direction.

'Soul!' I thought as I jumped out of the way of the attack. And when I looked at the shockwave pass right next to me I saw it slam against a wall and break off a chunk of it.

I was familiar enough with the strange energy to recognize it. And the knight ahead of me had just used it to attack. The strange thing was that I hadn't seen the soul coat his weapon before it happened. In fact, I hadn't sensed it at all until the mace slammed against the ground.

The knight, after seeing me dodge its attack, raised its mace above his head and began hitting the ground all around it in a frenzy. Each hit held so much power that the entire room was shaking. And as the knight slammed the ground chunks of the roof began falling down.

'This thing is going to kill us both!' I thought before running towards the corner of the room to avoid any of the bigger chunks of ceiling that had fallen.

I took a moment to look at the knight only to let out a slightly shocked gasp. Massive chunks of the roof had fallen on top of it and it had shrugged it off as if nothing had happened. This only emphasized what I already knew.

'I am not beating this thing by hitting it with my nail.'

I didn't know what that armor was made out of, but clearly, I was going at it the wrong way if I wanted to come out of here alive.

I had a lot of ideas flowing through my mind. But all of them required me to get a closer look at the armor. So after putting my nail in my back and taking out the knife Elderbug had given me I ran towards it.

The knight, noticing my approach, stopped its frenzy and began charging toward me. And when it raised its mace I got as close as I could.

'There are gaps, on the armor. But they aren't big.'

Once I saw what I needed I actually rolled underneath its legs to get behind it. And when the knight swung its mace ahead of it I jumped on its back.

'No gap on its neck. And no way to easily remove the helmet. This either leaves attacking its stomach using the knife. Which risks me losing or breaking the knife if the knight moves Or…'

My train of thought got interrupted as I saw the knight attempt to reach for me. Making me have to jump off its back and dodge out of the way.

As I saw the knight turn to face me once again I took a deep breath before charging at it.

"HERE GOES NOTHING!" I screamed as I ran towards the knight.

Using my soul to cover the small knife in aura I aimed directly at its face. Straight into the only slightly exposed area that would deal any real damage. Its eyes.

The knife plunged past the eye hole in the helmet directly into the face of the knight. And for the first time since the battle started, I saw it react. It let out a strange yell as it stumbled back in pain.

I pulled my knife out to go for the other eye but before I could plunge the knife I felt a hand grab my body tightly. And before I could react to try to mitigate the damage the knight pulled me away from its body and threw me as hard as it could towards the wall.

Crashing against it I felt myself lose all of my air before dropping limply toward the ground.

It hurt.

It really hurt.

I didn't know how much my anatomy had changed since I had arrived in this world, but I was sure that if I had bones they were broken. And I was left in a really bad position.

If I used the soul I had left to heal myself I would probably still be too injured to continue this fight, and I would be all out of soul. Which would mean I would not be able to deal any damage to the knight.

And if I used the soul I had left to make my knife deal more damage and reach deeper into its face I would be left in the injured state I was in right now. I wasn't even sure I would be able to stand up as I was right now.

It was at that moment that I lost my sense of hearing. Making the sounds of the knight thrashing around as it held onto its face completely vanish. My vision began turning red as all of the pain in my body disappeared. And I felt as if I had been healed back to full health even though I could still see the black blood leaking out of my armor.

But more than anything I felt a slight burning sensation coming from within my cloak.

Standing up from the ground slowly I took a glance at the inside of my blue cloak only to find that the strange pin I had found at the beginning of my journey was glowing with a furious red light.

The clarity in my head began to get clouded as one thought surfaced above all else.

'I had to kill this thing'

Grabbing onto the knife tightly I filled it with a soul before a crimson red aura suddenly emerged around the knife.

I saw as the knight continued to struggle in pain, and with my body slowly being covered in the same crimson red aura I rushed towards the knight.

Faster than I had ever moved before I crashed against the knight making it lose its balance and sending it tumbling back towards the ground. The knight crashed loudly against the ground with its arms falling to its sides. And with its face uncovered I raised the knife before plunging it into its other eye.

The crimson aura covering the knife extended past the tip of the blade allowing it to reach further into its head. And as the knight cried out in pain I continued to lift the small blade again and again until the knight left out a loud shriek and stopped moving.

And once that happened the fogginess around my head disappeared and I was able to use the soul I had collected from it to heal my body.

As the mortal wounds in my body closed I felt my hearing and my vision return to normal. However, even with all of the soul I had left before I started healing I was still filled with pain.

I collapsed on top of the armor with exhaustion as I took a moment to collect my thoughts.

I had almost died. I would have died were it not for that strange thing that happened.

Reaching inside my cloak I looked at the crimson red pin depicting an angry face with flames instead of hair. And when I touched it I felt that it was strangely hot.

"What the hell is this thing?'

When I had clipped it onto my cloak it had fused with it. And just now it had just made me go berzerk.

After I pulled on it forcefully for a moment I felt it separate from my cloak.

'So I can remove it after all…'

I was too tired to think too deeply about this. And since it had saved my life I simply placed it back on my cloak.

I was still collapsed on top of the armor when I made myself stand up.

"This place isn't safe. I should go back to Dirtmouth before resting" I muttered to myself before looking at the gigantic armor.

"But it would be a waste to leave you behind…."

Even if the armor didn't fit I was sure that I could find a use for it in the future. And it was better to take it for me than to let another husk enter it and become practically untouchable.

And speaking of which. I should probably take a look at the corpse inside of it.
