The half-breed

They had her surrender and snarled at her with their sharp, long teeth. She knew she was doomed. She has finally met her end. Even if everybody forgives her and lets her go, Delta Logan won’t support them. He is dangerous. She examined her surroundings, her eyes wondering for a way out. However, it was a dead end. They were in the middle of a jungle. The only thing she could hope for was an unexpected miracle. Delta Logan strides forward, followed by Rebecca, and her witch friend, Rachael, while the rest of the lycans pack moves behind her. Instantly, an idea crept into her head. Rachael is a witch. That means she was not fast like those lycans. “You can do this,” she assured herself. As Delta Logan dived at her, at the last minute, she stepped aside and the Delta collided with a tree instead. Before any one of them could react, she dived at Rachael, her elbow aiming straight for her teeth. Before Rachael could blink, Joy’s elbow collided with her mouth and the force removed the front teeth in the process. She pushed her out of the way and then grabbed a tree branch she had seen earlier and used the force to propel her body on top of the tree. Joy was sure of one thing, she couldn't outrun Delta Logan and the pack on dry ground. But she could do it on top of trees. Dan had taught her that. He had been training her for a day like this. She swung her body on top of another tree, and then swivelled her body midair, did bar hop skills, and grabbed another branch. She could hear the rustling of leaves behind her which suggested that they were now chasing her. Yet, she did not panic. She has been in this wood many times without number, and she knew her way better than them. After jumping for what seemed like forever, she could see the exit of the woods. It was a few metres ahead of her, and that made her double her effort. She was sure that Dan would be waiting for her at the exit of the woods.

Chapter 26

twenty-sixth chapter

Theme: Confusion, two

The last D'arcy Lycan charges at Favour, and she ducks aside to evade its claw. The lycan took a step back, then attacked again. This time, Favour grabbed his hand and twisted it back before she kicked the lycan back. General Zod, seeing that all his men had been killed, and their bodies piled up in the wedding hall; decided to escape.

He ran towards the door, but he collided with an invisible force. Standing in front of him is the King himself. Walking towards him from behind are General Drax, Rick, and Mrs Claire.

He shifted back in fear while using his hand to wipe a bead of sweat that had formed on his head. General Zod knew fully well that he couldn't escape death, so he stabbed his heart with his blade. At least, it's better than being captured and tortured by the King of the Lower Isles.

Taking a deep breath, Favour started inching towards Mrs Claire. "Look ma'am, I need to get to Moab. Those beings are in danger."

"Not until you tell us what's going on," says Mrs Claire, with a strong tone. "How can you access the Cad'Hor power which belongs to a true half-breed only, and it's impossible to have two half-breeds at once?"

"I swear to the moon goddess, I don't know what's happening. The only thing I know is that I'm Joy. I'm the answer we are looking for in Moab." Favour clarified.

"Wait a minute," says Mrs Claire. She walked toward Favour and unzipped her long white gown down to her waist. Without being told, Favour knew she was looking for evidence. She sighs in irritation at the thought of that. Things are getting nastier than she thought. She didn't know why people wouldn't just believe her.

Seeing that Mrs Claire was done with whatever she was doing, "I need a mirror," Favour demanded.

"Perhaps you don't need it," General Drax said.

He handed over his long, shining sword to Favour. Seeing her reflection on the blade, Favour knew instantly that this was the work of dark magic. She started searching her mind for any answer to the puzzle, but she found none.

"Listen, I don't know what's happening, but I'm Joy. I'm the true half-breed and saviour of the middle land." She screamed in irritation, and that made people glare more at her.

Joy could guess what they were thinking. They thought she was trying to claim another person's fame.

"Can't you see from the way I fought those Lycans?" she said, pointing to the dead bodies on the ground. "Can't you see from my skills and the power I was wielding? You should have known that something was wrong. Or can your cousin fight like this?" She asked, her gaze now resting on Mrs Claire.

"If that's what you are thinking, then it's yes. My cousin can also fight because I taught her some self-defence skills." Mrs Claire says

"What about the Cad'Hor power? What can you say about that? Or does your cousin also possess the power of a true half-breed?" Favour argued.

"That's what we are finding hard to believe," King Aaron chirped.

"Who knows, this might be a trick from Ariel. She might be doing it just to make sure that you kill General Clark. Besides, she didn't even agree to the wedding. Not only that, there's a mark on Favour's back, and you are also bearing the same mark." Mrs Claire explained.

"Listen, if you don't let me go now, all those that went to Moab will be killed." Favour said with a strong and confident tone."

"I can't risk my life for them, nor can I let you go to Moab." Mrs Claire shot at her.

"Whether you like it or not, I'm going and you must not try to stop me, or else I won't hesitate to kill you," she says as she makes her way toward the exit. She bumped her shoulder against Mrs Claire's, and the woman shifted back in panic.

With the look in Favour's eyes, she was sure that something was indeed wrong. Her cousin would never argue with her like this. Not to mention the death warning. That made Mrs Claire believe her.

Seeing that Favour wasn't going to turn back, the king decided to interfere. "Wait for a second, Favour." Hearing the king's voice, Favour stopped on a track, but she didn't turn back.

"I have known Claire for a long time, and I'm sure that she won't do anything to harm her cousin." The king pauses as if he's expecting a reply from Favour. Seeing that she isn't ready to talk, he continues. "I approved it. You're going to Moab while Mrs Claire and my general will escort you." The King elaborated.

"But my Lord..." Mrs Claire tried to argue, but the king raised his hand, and she kept quiet.

"It's an order, and you must get them to Moab as soon as possible. I'm sure you know what I mean." He said.

"Yes, My King." Mrs Claire said and bowed her head in submission. "Gather here," she said.

Favour and the two generals knew she was referring to them. Without wasting any seconds, they move closer to her.

"Hold each other's hand," Mrs Claire commanded them as soon as they surrounded her.

The three followed her order by holding each other's hands, which left Mrs Claire in the middle. She closed her eyes and started chanting in a strange language. A gentle breeze blew throughout the entire hall, followed by a bright light that engulfed all of them. Finally, they vanished from the hall.

Letting out a great battle cry, Micah Tyler swung his blade at Joy. A deadly blow that meant two cuts through her head. At the last second, Joy raised her blade and parried the blow. She rolled to the ground as she felt something sharp coming her way. Just then, a sharp knife whistled past her head. She knew it was Sarah's doing.

She jumps to her feet as Micah whacks at her again, this time ducking aside to evade a blade. She raised the blood sword and attacked back.

She performed a different brawl with the blood sword and slashed at Micah without relenting. She tapped into her power, channelled it to the sword, and used it to drive Micah back. She cut at him from different angles without relenting. Front and back, up and down, side by side, she will swat at him.

All her blows were so fast that Micah couldn't block them all. Joy was giving him a cut, and his arms were growing weaker.

Seeing this, Joy didn't give him time to relax. She raised the blood sword high, and it turned red instantly which meant she was enraged. As she brought it down on Micah's head, Sarah parried it with another blade. Before Joy could swing her blade again, Micah kicked her in the chest, and she went stumbling backwards; her back hitting the wooden table in the process.

Joy groaned in pain as she managed to stand on her feet. She quickly surveyed the room with her eyes and could see that she was stuck with the two beings alone. Dan was outside, fighting some D'arcy soldiers while Mrs Sandra was protecting the entrance from hundreds of lycans that were trying to rush in. She was casting a spell that created an invisible shield.

Taking a deep breath, Joy twirled her blade, threw it to her left hand, and dashed at the two beings using her superspeed. She attacks them violently, knocking both of them back. She was pushing them away further and further, back towards the entrance of the room. She raised her blade, turned around, and swung it at Micah. She aimed for his exposed neck and made attempt chop it down.

Sarah quickly steps forward and blocks the blow again. Before Joy could swing again, Micah cut her on the arm with his blade. Faster than the eyes could comprehend, Sarah appeared behind Joy, conjured a huge Hado Hans ball in her hand, and used it to knock her from behind. The impact made Joy crash against the wooden wall of the room before she crashed to the ground.

She spits out blood, and her vision become blurred. She tried to stand on her feet by using the blood sword as support. However, she ended up crashing to the ground while blood started oozing out of her mouth and nose. A few minutes later, her vision was clear, and she could see Micah squatting beside her.

"I warned you, didn't I?" With a chuckle, Micah said. "I have never failed in my mission, and yours won't be the first." With that, Micah stood up, picked up his blade, and swung it toward Joy's head.

A few inches from the blade reaching her, a bright light suddenly illuminated the whole room, which blinded and distracted everyone for some minutes. Joy took the opportunity to kick Micah in the manhood, and she quickly stood up with the blood sword in her hand.

Emerging out of the bright light are Mrs Claire, General Drax, Rick, and Favour.

"What are you guys doing here?" Dan asked, surprised. "I thought you were supposed to be celebrating your wedding." He said, his eyes staring at Favour.

"You got the wrong being. I'm the true half-breed." Favour said with a strong tone.

She let her gaze wander around the room before it finally settled on Joy. Seeing this, Joy quickly bent her head as if trying to avoid eye contact with Favour. Everybody stood still and watched with curiosity as Favour started striding towards Joy.

One could see that her hand was shaking and that the blood sword was becoming heavier in her hand with each passing second. When she couldn't cope with the weight of the sword anymore, she dropped it.

Before the sword could make contact with the floor, Favour stretched her hand forward, and the sword automatically flew to her hand. She dramatically twirled the sword, spinning it back and swinging it at Micah's head. In the last seconds, Sarah pushed him away with an invisible force, and the blow brought down General Clark's head instead.

The front door went flying off its hinges which allowed bright light to illuminate the room. Emerging from the bright light are Mrs Sandra, Jerushah, and Jotham. Seeing that he was outnumbered, Micah Tyler heaved Sarah up with one hand and dashed out through the back door.

"Finally, the prophecy was avoided." Jerushah says with a triumphant smile. She draws a somatic breath, and the unexpected happens. Favour turned to joy, and Joy turned to Favour.

"I didn't know there's much to be a true Saviour than wielding the blood sword." The new Favour said, and went to hug Joy. "I want to try something different. I don't want to marry the General, that's why I accepted her offer."

Favour said while pointing at Jerushah, "She told me to act like you for a while. I don't think that she meant this. She is the one that does the face-changing things. She appeared to me when I was working in the stable."

"If my guess is right, you are the same old woman that appeared to me in the woods." says Joy as she walks toward Jerushah. “You did this to prevent me from dying, right?”

"Yes," Jerushah replied boldly. "After I warned you, I discovered that you won't follow my warning; that's why."
