Training

After about a two months of dutiful training, Mariella had allready mastered the basics of magic. In doing so, She learned that every mage had an element that they would specialize in or have the ability to cast.

In total there are five elements a mage could have such a affinity for:

Water, Earth, Fire, Light, and Darkness.

From there each element would be broken down Into a magical class that the mage would choose to train their element in.

1)Healing magic. They can cure diseases and heal wounds with their magic. Most Healers work for Temples and hospitals to heal those who need it, making them commonly known simply as healers. Mages with Water and light elements are especially gifted in this class.

2)Defense/attack type magic. Mages that choose to fight to protect themselves and the people around them. They can attack the enemy with a variation of different spells and are respected warriors. Because they chose to use their magic to fight and protect, they are commonly known as Warrior Mages. Fire and Earth magic are the most adaptive for combat.

3)And finally, teleportation type magic. This is a rare and not oftenly seen amongst mages. They use spells to travel long distances in an instant. Depending on the Mage's strength the distance they can go and the amount of people they can transport varies. Mage's who specialize in such spells are referred to as GateWay Mage's.

Most mages, once they find out what their element was(water, fire, earth, ect), would train wholeheartedly in either of the three classes and won't able to successfully cast other magic types they didn't specialize in.

Meaning a healer wouldn't be able to cast any defense/attack spells, or use teleportation spells. They would only beable to perform healing spells.

Mariella for an example was an Earth element mage who specializes in attack and defense spells, meaning she was a Warrior Mage who used earth based spells to attack and protect.

Colin was a fire mage in a the same class, so it made it alot easier for them to train and spar against eachother. Since they had the same master, it made sense that they would be taught similarly.

The way they fought were also similar to eachother, but their skill levels were nothing alike in the slightest. Collin was expert mage, while Mariela was still only a novice.

It went like this:

Novice mages being the weakest, then average mages, experienced, expert, master, grandmaster, then heavenly master being the strongest.

Mariella had only just begun to train so she was still nothing but a novice.

...

"You're still holding back too much! You can't expect your attack spells to do any damage if you don't intend to hurt the enemy!" Colin effortlessly jumped out of the way before a giant brown root broke through the ground and charged towards him.

He laughed out loud at her Feeble attempt of attacking him. He could tell she was getting frustrated at him, but that's what he wanted. He needed her mad so she wouldn't hold back any longer and really fight.

"You call that an attack? Come on Mariella, be more hostile!"

Mariella gritted her her teeth and furrowed her brows in frustration. Sweat glistened on her forehead and her breathing abit unsteady. Despite being exhausted form constant training, she lifted her hand and let out another series of attacks sending them Colin's way.

"Fine! You want hostile, Golden Boy? Then I'll give you Hostile!"

The ground cracked open again, and several roots shot towards the boy like terrifying snake-like spears come to life. They weaved through the air and followed him persistently as he dodged their deadly strikes.

Just as Colin jumped to avoid another one of these vine attacks, another vine burst through the ground behind him, catching him off guard. He had allready jumped several meters in the air and couldn't evade the vine from wrapping around his leg and heavily pulled him down to the ground with a loud 'THUD'.

His body hit the ground so hard there was a light indentation in the ground from the harsh impact. The vine didn't stop its termism there though. It quickly swung him back into the air and began to slam his body against the hard ground like a rag-doll.

The air was knocked out of his lungs and he coughed loudly trying to catch his breath between being thrown in the air and crashing into the ground. He regretted provoking her. Oh man, did he regret it.

*Cough cough* " Okay! Okay.. I take it back! Uughhh.. I should of kept my mouth shut. Please.. Ouch! Let me gooo~"

Only after admitting defeat did she finally stop pummeling the poor boy. Instead, she had her vine hang him by the foot just high enough in the air that their faces were leveled with eachother.

A devious smile contoured her beautiful face, sarcasm spilling from her voice.

"What happened, I thought I couldn't hurt you? Maybe you should of protected yourself with me more.. what was it? Oh, yeah, hostility."

His face was slightly red from hanging upside down but still managed to give her one of his famous 'pretty boy' smiles. He didn't take any offense to her tone, but instead found the whole situation quite humorous and you could hear it in his voice.

"Hahahaha! You got me! I'm no match against such power, so could you so kindly put me down Miss All Mighty Mage?"

His cheeky smile quickly disappeared as the vine that was holding him let him fall face first into the ground. He rolled over on his back and let out a long sigh. She never went easy on him.

Mariella walked over to where Colin was ungracefuly spread out on the ground, and held out one of her delicate hands for him to grab.

For a moment he looked shocked by her sudden action, but then a goofy but pure smile blossomed across his handsome face. He took her hand in ernest and allowed her to pull him back up to his feet.

By this point they were both chuckling happily, as if they didn't almost fight to such an extent moments ago.

He bashfully scratched the back of his head and continued to chuckle awkwardly, his face turning redder by the moment.

"T-Thanks for the hand.. That was a pretty good move you pulled."

Mariella smiled back at him with a warm gaze in her eyes. After spending these last few months here with him and Master, she had grown rather close to them both.

Colin had a personality as bright as his golden hair, which made him easy for her to like. He reminded her alot of another bubbly young girl she knew.

She decided after a few more days she would go back to the doctor's home and pay him and Maya a visit. She could only imagine how Maya would of reacted to her being gone for so long. She probably tore her poor fathers home apart in a fit.

Collin looked at her sudden sad expression and tried to lighten the mood.

"How about we maybe go and-"

Before He could finish his sentence a large and whole oak tree came barreling through the air and loudly landing right next to where the two were standing. The tree was so massive the ground trembled from the sudden impact.

Colin jumped back a bit and looked at Mariella with a shocked expression.

"Sneak attacks aren't fair, Mariella!"

She looked at him completely flabbergasted. Her jaw dropped and one eyebrow shot up questioningly. She was just as shocked as he was!

"I didn't do that." She looked at him as if he had lost his mind. Since when could she uproot whole trees and throw them like they were nothing? She wasn't that strong. With her current strength she could only manipulate smaller plant life, like roots and branches!

"Who else could move a whole tree and chuck it across the the clearing like that?" To him, he thought she could do anything, even throw trees if that's what she wanted.

Just as the words left his lips, another tree barreled it's way towards him making him frantic to barely avoid it from hitting him.

"If you're not doing it, then who is?"
