She's awake!

"Papa, when do you think she'll wake up? It's allready been three days!" Maya shot a worried filled look over at the girl still sleeping motionlessly in the corner of the room.

The older man let out a soft sigh and then followed her gaze to take a look at the girl as well.

" Her wounds have healed, but that doesn't mean the trauma she went through didn't harm her mind as well. She'll wake up when she's ready to, Maya. Be patient."

The doctor's eyes looked tired, but still held a great deal of kindness within them. His face was that of a middle aged man with a scruffy appearance that greatly contrasted against the knowledgeable air that circled him.

His daughter, Maya, looked a great deal like him. They shared the same kind eyes, and curly dark hair, though his had slightly grayed from age. She was much younger, around eleven or twelve, and was bustling ball of pure energy.

Though they looked alike, their personalities were polar opposites. One calm and collected at all times, and the other too playful and mischievous for her own good. Despite their differences, they got along extremely well and lived each day with their hearts full of love.

Maya had grown up in the same town she was born in and had never had the chance to leave, so her innocent mind was always curious when she saw something new. Looking at such a particular looking girl, she couldn't help but ask her father about her strange appearance.

"Papa.. why does she look that? Her hair doesn't have any color, and her ears are alittle pointy. Have you seen anybody like her before?"

"She's from elven descent, Maya. Though she doesn't look to be pure blooded. One of her parents must be Elven while the other a human."

He wasn't surprised that his silly daughter asked such a thing, after all there were only human's in their village. The town folk were too poor to own something as expensive as an elf.

His face darkened in thought, and his heart went out to the poor elven girl that just bearly survived death. He figured she was a run away slave who was beaten close to death when they caught her and did even prepare her a grave.

"Elven descent? But aren't elves.. slaves? I've never seen one before. She's awfully pretty, isn't she?" Her eyes bugged out of her head from the surprise. How could such a beautiful girl be a slave? Could it be that her master hurt her and left her in that forest to die? What a cruel man!

And she's a half blood on top of that? How hard her life must of been! She would never be treated as anything but a slave by the humans, and the elves would never welcome her because of the human blood that flowed through her veins. She was from two worlds but couldn't co-exist with either. How sad.

"Papa, she didn't choose to be born into this world. She should be treated with respect just like the rest of us! I don't care if she is an elf, human, or even a rock! We should keep her safe." Determination filled her eyes and her heart soured at the thought of someone mistreating someone because of something as so simple as their birth.

Her father didn't say a word, but it was clear on his face that he was proud of his kind hearted daughter.

[You remind me so much of your late mother, my sweet Maya. She was just as kind.]

Suddenly, a series of small coughs interrupted their tender moment, and both their eyes were drawn to the girl laying on the bed with surprise.

The sickly and thin girl slowly began to open her eyes and briefly stared at the ceiling as her eyes adjusted to the light. She hadn't even realized there were other people in the room yet.

Mariella raised one of her delicate hands to her face to intensely study it.

[So this is what my hands look like. I couldn't see it back then when I was in the void, it was too dark. They're alot smaller then I was expecting... ouch my head kinda hurts.]

Her hand slid across her forehead and pushed back a clump silvery white hair that covered her small oval face.

[It's too bright here.]

Just as her sore body began to slowly shift itself in a sitting up position, the energetic voice of a certain young girl squealed out in joy.

"She's awake! Thank the Maker! Papa, she's finally awake!"

Her small body bounced out of the chair she was sitting in and ran right up to the bed, giving their poor patient no time to brace herself.

"I'm so glad you're okay!! I carried you back from the forest days ago and you didn't wake up even once all this time! I was so scared!" Her cute little eyes began to tear up, and she couldn't stop her excited feet from dancing in place.

Mariella stared at the girl with undisguised shock in her eyes. Could the little kid from the void not warn her about such a lively girl practically throwing herself on her when she would only just woken up? Then again, it did say to be on guard..

"Ughh.. ummm.. Thank you." She straightened out her body and slightly leaned it away from Maya to gain some much needed personal space.

[She's practically in my lap right now! Have you never heard of personal space, woman??]

"Maya, leave the poor girl alone. She just woke up, the last thing she needs is to be bombarded by a strange girl she's never met before."

"Awhhhh but Papaaa! I'm just so happy she's awake!"

He smiled warmly at his daughter but his eyes still held firmness to them. Maya knew that look. It was his 'just do as I say, please' look.

She took a few steps back from the bed feeling alittle embarrassed. Her lightly freckled cheeks warmed up and quickly turned red, and she began to awkwardly play with one of her loose curls.

"I'm sorry, miss, I just get alittle excited sometimes. I hope you can forgive me for being so.. forward."

Mariella was surprised, but at the same time found the whole thing alittle humorous. This girl was quite funny, and she couldn't help but think she was cute as well.

She decided not to hold it against her, and instead gave her a charming smile that lit the room around her with warmth.

"Its okay, I didnt mind it too much.. Do you think you could tell me where I am?" She nervously looked around their hut, as if something was going to jump out at her at any moment.

Maya fist palmed her own head. That should of been the first thing out of her mouth, but then the excitement overwhelmed her and she completely forgot!

"I should of said something earlier! We're in Hagen Village just out side the forest, and this is my Papa's house. He's a doctor." she nodded over to her father who was still sitting comfortably next to the fireplace with pride in his eyes.

Both this father and daughter pair seemed to be genuinely kind people. But she couldn't let down her guard just yet. Her spirt animal said it didn't sense any malicious from them, but it would be wise to not trust them just because they LOOKED nice.

"I see. Then I take it you're the one who saved me? Thank you so very much for saving my life. I doubt I would be here without both of your help." Mariella did a small bow while she was still sitting to express her gratitude.

Maya smiled back at her as if to say 'it was the right thing to do, no thanks needed.' She rather liked this girl alot. Even though she is a half elf, she speaks very proper. Even the air around her felt noble.
