1 How the Gryffindor Rose came to be

The Doctor had a sister, back before everything went to s***. That sister had her first incarnation when the Doctor was on his 5th. Eventually, that sister had a child with The Master. The Doctor was not happy. Raised mostly fighting in the Time War after graduating from the Gallifreyan time lord academy, the timelord known as the Rose was one of the lucky few. Inheriting her uncle's bizarre luck, she had a penchant both for attracting trouble and for surviving it relatively intact. When the war started to reach its climax, Master already having fled, The Rose's mother used the chameleon arch and sent her daughter to the planet Earth, in a timezone that the Doctor visited often. The Rose was still on her first life.

When Sirius died, he willed her a box. In that box was a letter explaining that she was adopted, a stramge 'broken' pocket watch, and another box that Sirius could never open. Briar opened the pocket watch, remembering her true nature, and opened the box that was bigger on the inside and contained various things including letters for both the Doctor and Master.
