1 Her End of the World

"Girl, let me take it." A strong burly man with a beard and a nice smile on his face slowly took over the briefcase from Xiao Hua's hands and nodded at his teammates. She had been waiting for these people to escort her or else she will be in danger.

"Thank you very much." Xiao Hua smiled and nodded.

The slightly handsome man quickly waved his hand, "No need. No need. We all just hope that you would find a vaccine soon."

With a smile on her face, Xiao Hua followed the man into the Dragon Base hoping to find a cure soon for such people in these last days.

"Welcome Miss Xiao, the laboratory for you has been set up. I, Lu Mei, will assist you in any form if you need." With a sweet smile on her petite face, the tall woman led Xiao Hua into the laboratory.

Seeing the well set-up lab, Xiao Hua turned and extended her hand, "Miss Lu, I look forward to work with you."

Another hand grasped hers and shook it slightly, "Me too.." Her voice slightly strange.

"Miss Xiao, you sure that injecting mutated DNA will assist in recovering the zombies back to humans?" With glasses on his handsome face and sharp glint hidden in them, as usual, Head Lu Feng shot down Xiao Hua in the meeting.

Xiao Hua couldn't help but cough slightly. By this time, she was used to Mr. Lu's poisnous tongue. "The humans mutated into zombies after something, that is, the virus was introduced into their body. It has already been found that this virus has completely rearranged the DNA sequence in the body and made an entirely new being - the zombie. As such, I propose this plan of rearranging the sequence of zombie DNA to human one and reintroducing it. At least, giving it a try would also do no harm. And if it does succeed, it will be a great step."

Head Lu Feng said no more and just nodded. Xiao Hua has long noticed that this man seemed to love blocking her in the meeting everytime they met but never created a little trouble apart from it. Perhaps Mr. Lu was a knife mouth and tofu heart.

"Miss Xiao Hua, why is it that your research papers are exactly the same as those shown to us by Head Lu Feng yesterday?" With one hand rubbing an orb and the other holding the research papers, Jin Jiao, the young leader of Dragon Base, stared at Xiao Hua.

Xiao Hua's face paled and she slowly looked up at Head Lu Feng beside her and the latter looked down too. She could see the astonishing face of Mr. Lu but this close, she was also able to see hidden smiles too. Never in her heart had she once imagined Mr. Lu as a poisonous viper even with his poisonous tongue but now, she couldn't help but think of it.

It was only a week ago that she discussed with him to give her some time to present her research results to the leader. But yesterday, her research papers were missing from her room and she ran to and fro from one lab to another. At last, Lu Mei suggested her to look where she left them first. Again she searched her room and to her surprise, they were there. Lu Mei said that it was probably due to stress that she overlooked them.

Now, Xiao Hua knew it wasn't stress and Mr. Lu never came to their side of the building yesterday. Only Lu Mei could pass those on. Lu Feng, Lu Mei. Probably these two are relatives not only in rumors but in reality too. Only she never believed as these two never talked to eachother otherwise when necessary as if they were not relatives but only estranged colleagues.

Mr. Lu not only passed her reasearch to the leader but one day before too. Her evidence that she was the original researcher was only Lu Mei as a witness but she too was mixed.

Xiao Hua could only watch with dead eyes as Jin Jiao crushed her research papers and ashes slipped through his fingers. "Fotunately, Head Lu Feng suddenly decided to show his papers yesterday or else I would never know that such a traitor existed in our 'research team' who could steal others' works just for fame."

"Wu Dao, Wu Er, take this woman into the dungeon and give her special care." Two strong and burly men, of which she recognised one, took Xiao Hua by her arms dragging away.

"Jin Jiao, listen! Lu Feng is a viper! He will never leave you alone! Never!" Aside from warning and hysterically screaming, Xiao Hua could do nothing. All her effort these months had gone down the drain.

"Head Lu Feng, don't worry. I would never believe such woman's words."

"Thanks to the leader for his concerns."

Boom! Boom! Sound of fireworks came. Were they fireworks or ammunitions?

In the stinky cell, Xiao Hua could only hope that humanity will once again resurface and perhaps her research did help and someone would soon find that she was wronged. Perhaps.

Creak! The cell door opened.

Was it Wu Dao or perhaps Wu Er, the one whom she met first?

When the man stepped in, Xiao Hua couldn't believe that it was the poisonous viper.

The man chuckled and slowly brushed aside some strands of hair behind her ear. Xiao Hua quicly scrambled back. She hated this man. His voice, his face, his everything.

"Ah Hua, no need to feel scared. If you agree to be my woman, I would give you back all the glory you deserve while Lu Mei, the one who betrayed you, will suffer for her crimes." The viper whispered lovingly and no wonder that Xiao Hua felt goosebumps.

There was silence for two seconds. "What about you?" Will you suffer?

"How can I? I must be beside you all the times as your husband. How could I leave you alone to hook up with someone else?" All her chances has already been taken away by him. She could only be his woman. The original heroine could only be his and his alone.

Xiao Hua never knew that this viper was not only poisonous but an oscar-winner too. Such difference in temperament.

"You dream!" Xiao Hua raised her hands to scratch his face.

At first, Lu Feng didn't panic. What could an ordinary woman's scratch do to a level-2 ability? But when he felt the wound below his eyes fester, he panicked. "What did you do?!" He shot Xiao Hua to the side of the cell.

Hearing the voice, Wu Dao and Wu Er hurriedly entered. Xiao Hua leaned on the wall as she felt her blood trickle down her forehead.

"Sir, what's wrong?"

"Wu Er, beware! That's a zombie scratch. Quickly inject the serum."

"Damn that woman! Wu Dao, kill her for me. She no longer has any value."

Xiao Hua knew she would die soon but even then, watching the viper dying a zombie's death seemed good too. Who knew that her cell wasn't that cleaned and a leftover zombie nail was found by her? That was her only weapon.

"Boss, the serum's not working!"

"Wu Er, kill the boss."

"But!-"

Bang! A bullet was fired introducing splashes of blood on the black floor intermixing slowly with the color.

A little later, Xiao Hua felt pain in her whole body. She was punched and kicked. Her teeth had dislocated. "You.. don't know.. that.. serum.. would never..-" Bang! A bullet ran through her stomach.

Unwillingly Xiao Hua stared at Wu Er and the gun in his hand. She wanted to save people like him the first she entered the base. Never knew...
