The Beginning Of A New Era

Many, many years ago, a great calamity struck Earth.

There was gigantic cracks in the sky all over the world and the entire planet shook tremendously, it was like the world was falling apart.

Many people thought that the end of the world had arrived and some others thought that they were just overreacting and that it was just something that they didn't need to be worried about.

That proved to not be the case.

A few years later after the cracks appeared, beasts from another world began to emerge from these cracks in the sky and they roamed around the entire world, tearing apart entire cities and obliterating every living being they could see.

99% of humanity was killed off by these beasts.

Those who did survive, however, gained some sort of power, a strange magical energy that coursed through their veins that defied belief.

This was only possible because of the magical energy that the beasts exuded from their bodies that was able to be absorbed by the remaining humans who survived.

Soon, they began to fight back.

The great war against the beasts lasted forever, and it looked like it wasn't going to end anytime soon, but out of nowhere, they appeared.

Humans who were named 'The Twelve Monarchs' by those who were awed by their absolute power appeared before humanity and led them towards the path of victory.

These Monarchs were terrifying powerful, and their power was so extremely overwhelming to the point where even some of the beasts trembled in front of their presence.

They were the ones who led the humans towards victory against the great evil that had struck this world.

That was the events of what was called, The First Beast Eruption, and The Monarchs were able to bring the world into a new era, The Era Of Kings.

As the war ended, the entire world was in complete ruins, and even now everything is far from perfect, because nearly everything was razed to the ground during The First Beast Eruption.

But even in this desolate world, the descendants of these monarchs managed to create a hierarchy, one where only the people who are the absolute strongest can survive, and are able to rule over the weak like gods.

…This.. was what everyone considered the truth, but never have they once considered that they were being fed lies this whole time.

I am the one who seeks the truth and on my journey, I learnt how to discern the lies from the truth and I have been shown everything I needed to know about this world.

The Great War against the beasts that happened countless years ago, to get to the bottom of it, I must first solve the endless conflict and wars between all humans.

This new world that they made cannot satisfy them, and they are constantly trying to bring back the old world before the beasts attacked us, but that will only bring us further and further away from winning the true war, which has only just begun.

I will find out the full truth of this world.. it doesn't matter if anyone, no matter who it is, doubts me on my journey, I will find out the whole truth of this world and why I was brought here.

The new world and the old world.. to me, it doesn't matter, I don't care about who will go against me in hopes of stopping me, because I will achieve my goal, no matter how long it takes!

"..Ugh.." I yawned, rubbing my eyes, "Did I oversleep again.."

I looked towards my alarm clock and it seems like I was right, the time currently said 9:34, when I was supposed to be at work at 8:00, on the dot.

"Shit…" I rose up from my bed quickly, "I need to hurry..!" I rushed out of my room and got myself ready for work hastily.

In this world, my name is Arthur Merrick, and I am of course, someone who has transmigrated to another world.

My name isn't actually Arthur Merrick, it's actually Alexander Magnus, but it's been pretty long since I transmigrated that I've even almost forgot my real name, and also, I gained all the memories of this body.

In my past life, I wasn't even really interested in novels to begin with, but it looks like my life unexpectedly became one itself.

But if my life truly became a novel, I'm not even sure what type of novel it is, I've been living on this world for so long that I've accepted my fate and gotten completely used to it.

Right now, I'm not really in the best situation, as my job is to shovel the dead corpses of beasts after they have died in raids or subjugations.

The war against the great beasts has already ended, but that doesn't mean that all of the monsters have died out, and those beasts have a hold over just less than half of the entire world.

Even though the Great War has already been fought, humans and monsters are still in the middle of what seems like a massive power struggle at the moment.

"..I wonder, what is that weird dream I keep having?" I wondered to myself, as I put on my clothes, "It must be the reason why I'm waking up so late, but I don't remember the dream when I wake up.. maybe it's to do with the fact that I transmigrated."

"I'll have to think about that later, because I don't have the time to think about that right now." I exit the door looking messy and unorganised, "There's no time to waste, I need to hurry."

After I arrived at the subjugation site which was inside a cave..

"So you're finally here." Someone tapped me on the back, "Where were you?"

It was Gabriel, a 'longtime friend' of mine.

Before I transmigrated, him and I had known each other since we were young.

Since he saw that I had taken this job, he decided to join me since he was in a pretty tight situation right now, but even though I wasn't exactly poor, no other job would accept me because of my magic defect.

In this world, the ones who had the most money were usually the ones who were the strongest and I unfortunately possessed someone with an abnormality.

That same disease caused me to have no magic abilities at all, and I would be lying if I said it didn't suck.

Having no talent for magic made me look like one of the lowest of the low in society.

On top of that, in this world my parents are..

Well, I shouldn't get into that right now, I have another thing to focus on right now.

"We had to shovel all these dead monster corpses without you." I looked around and saw around ten or eleven monster corpses surrounding us, and other shovelers trying to clean them up.

"Yeah, sorry, it's just that I've been having a strange dream recently, and I think that's the reason I been waking up so late."

"A strange dream?" He looked at me confused, "What do you mean?"

"I'm not sure either.. I can't remember it at all after I wake up."

"I guess we can talk about that later, we still have to do our jobs after all."

After we finished shovelling, we entered deeper into the cave, if there was any other monster corpses left behind, and it took multiple hours for us to find any corpses, and it looked like we weren't going to find anymore, but, we came across something pretty strange..

"Why is there such a huge door here?"

"What the.."

We all stared in wonder at the giant door.

"I think we should go and check inside, there might be more monster corpses, because of the magical energy I can feel inside."

As we entered, I felt an ominous feeling in my stomach.

Once we entered inside..

"What is that?"

The entire room was also a greyish-green colour, and we were all standing in front of a throne, it seemed like it was made for a giant because of its large size, and there was giant pillars all around the room which kinda made it look like a giant throne room.

"Why do I feel some sort of pressure from coming from the throne..? Could it possibly be magical energy?" I thought.

"Look behind it!"

There was several runes on the throne, they seemed to be from an ancient runic language, which were something that only someone like a magician or a sorcerer could decipher.

I felt an even more ominous feeling in my stomach.
