The Science Behind Genes

"Fantastic. You've managed to clear 5 warriors. That's the best record I've seen in a long time"

Cain hearing this didn't feel very proud, these battles made him realize how little he really knew. His move's felt bland and had no style. He was mostly relying on his genetic ability that was very powerful to tide him through the battles, but he realized that without this ability, his strength really isn't anything special. The requirement to pass this part of the test was to defeat at least a tier 1 Genetic General, which half the disciples failed to do, making the initial 30 people drop to 15.

"You've all passed, congratulations and welcome to the Divine Perception Sect. Follow me"

The elder guided them back towards the outer sect city and showed them to their room. Each one of them got a special token that showed off their identity. The outer sect had constant competition. the top 10 disciples got access to houses closer to the Divine Mountain, which was a source of spiritual energy disciples could use to cultivate. Spiritual energy was like an elixir for your body, except your body would never get sick of it, unlike regular elixirs. Disciples closer to the source could use it to increase the speed of their cultivation, making them grow stronger, faster.

On the mid point of the Divine mountain was the inner sect, along the top of the mountain was where the elders and core disciples lived. Cain didn't get any special treatment despite his talent, it seemed the sect wanted him to grow on his own before confirming whether this talent was real or not. Plenty of times supposed geniuses ended up falling half way. Whether it was due to a weak personality, or arrogance, it was best to let a disciple fight their way up so they could build character.

Stories of people with no talent making a name for themselves weren't rare, that's because these people had strong dispositions that would tide them through any event. What the sect hoped to achieve was to create disciples like this, that could fight through anything. Cain didn't need anything handed to him however, fighting for what you get is half the fun, and he wasn't afraid of a challenge.

But before that Cain decided to freshen up on his knowledge, he headed towards the outer sect library and quickly got an idea of what exactly kind of universe he was living in. He was currently located on Divine Perception Planet, the Divine Perception Sect was only one of the many sects in the vicinity however.

There were 5 other sects close by which included the Giant Champion sect, Five Element Sect, Temporal Shift Sect, Heavenly Transformation Sect, and finally the Diamond Form Sect. However despite the strength of all these sects, they were still under the Zoolean empire, a human empire that controlled this galaxy. The Zoolean Empire was part of the Sacred Union, which included hundreds of other domains just as powerful as the Zoolean empire.

Cain's knowledge expanded tremendously from this single session and his mind felt much clearer. He ended up spending an entire day studying, soon he had cleared through pretty much all the public information available. He exited the library and headed to the Genetic Research Lab, the sect naturally dedicated part of its strength to Genetic Research, and students who had the talent for it could try to join the Genetic Research Lab. Genetic Researchers, much like Genetic Warriors were split into levels, Class 1 Genetic researchers could create class 1 genes, class 2 genetic researchers could create class 2 genes, and so on so forth.

Cain was an extremely weak class 1 genetic researcher, in fact most people wouldn't even consider him a genetic researcher since the genes he had made in the past were among the easiest to create. Cain enjoyed the process of genetic research however, so he decided to try and join the genetic research lab. When he entered, he heard an old man giving a lecture. He decided to stop and listen.

"What are genes? Most of you would think the answer is simple. You'd most likely say something along the lines of 'They are what give humans their power.' However you would only be partly correct. The human body consists of around 30,000 genomes, these are naturally not the genes Genetic Warriors use. These genes only decide a humans form, how they look, whether their hair is curly or straight, what color their skin is. There is nothing magical about these genes, that is why we must go deeper.

"In the year 6429, an unknown scientist discovered something, a secret that had been hidden in the human body since our conception. These were 'Genes' the ones that granted us power. Humans had always been able to cultivate, however they could only raise their strength to a certain level before the genomes that created them, also started to restrain them. That's why the genes that humans use to grant themselves power are sometimes referred to as 'Break Genes'"

"They are called 'Break Genes' because they do exactly that, that help us break through the limits that once restricted us, on top of granting us new powers. These 'Break Genes' were hidden very deeply into the human body, however they were numerous as the stars in the sky, most were dormant however, meaning they did nothing. It wasn't until 5 years after 'Break Genes' were discovered that another scientist found a way to awaken them. By amassing a research team of the greatest geniuses of their time, they researched all the cultivation techniques of the olden ages. They then stitched together a new cultivation technique, called the 'Break Gene Awakening Exercise.' Some humans with talent used this exercise to awaken their genes, as more and more people awakened genes, the science behind these 'Break Genes' became increasingly advanced. Eventually the first man produced 'Break Gene' was created and the first Genetic Researcher was born. These primitive genes only did basic tasks such as helping metabolism, or making bald men grow back their hair, but they got more unique as time passed. Soon someone managed to create the inner vision gene, which revolutionized the genetic world. It helped people look at these once hidden genes and awaken them more efficiently, helping the world break into the golden age, that eventually developed into the world we know it as today. Genes also advanced technology, but we shall talk about that another day"
