The Great Story Of The Unknown

This tale has spread far and wide around the continent of Perseus. Fathers teach their children who have a dream to become adventuress this story. The tale goes as following

''The 'Unknown' which was gifted to us by the Gods. A land rumored to hold vast treasures beyond human comprehension. It is said that the one who reaches the 'Maximum' level. The one who does will receive 3 wishes that will be granted. The word we received from Apollo ''You can wish for anything, and it shall be granted. Even becoming a God''. Many adventurers both female and male have tried their skill. Yet it's been 157 years and no one has succeeded so far.''

Our story surrounds a character from a town named Daedalus. He is the son of a farmer. His father has fallen ill and he and his older sister try their best to cure his disease.

The older sister named Agape. She is older by about 3 years than her brother Achilles. She is a beautiful young girl with eyes that could seduce any man. She makes most of their income through indecent acts as she has not been taught to cook or to clean.

Achilles is the younger out of the two. He is an extremely hard worker but gets cheated out because of his generosity and foolishness. He does all of the work on the farm. He has a dream of becoming an adventurer and reaching the 'Maximum' level to ask for the omne remedium to cure his father's disease. His mother left when he was two for an unknown reason.

It was a stormy day. The clouds were as gray as smoke. The wind indicated that a storm was coming. Most were preparing for it to hit. The rich were already prepared. But our young Achille was out barricading and protecting the farmland from the flood. It started to drizzle. Agape had just gotten home from work dripping wet from the cold rain. She started heating the water for the family to take a bath.

'Whew, it's quite windy outside, eh sis?'

'You're right, it hasn't been like this in 5 years. Did you manage to flood-proof the farmyard?'

'Of course, I did. Are you doubting me that much? Anyway, how is father doing?'

'He is sleeping right now. The bath will be ready soon so get yourself prepared.'

'I will go first so I can start preparing dinner. Any preferences tonight?'

'Maybe beef stew or chicken stew.'

'So bread and mutton it is.'

'Why did you even ask me, if you are going to make something you want to eat?'

'I hear no complaints about bread and mutton.'

Achille started getting his clothes ready for the bath. He grabbed a tattered leather shirt and his pants. He hopped in the bath and started bathing. 'A warm bath is like heaven on Earth.'

He jumped out of the bath, dressed and slid towards the kitchen. He crashed headfirst into the wall. He let out a silent yelp. He lights the stove and starts frying the mutton. As the mutton sizzles, he adds salt to enrichen the flavor. He sets up 3 plates with mutton and bread. He places it on the table and sits down. Apage supporting their father walks in and sits him down. They all eat, tell some jokes and sleep. Achelle was sitting by the window since he has to regularly check on the sandbags.

As time passes the storm gets worse and worse. Lightning bolts rain from the heavens burning trees and incinerating the soil. Larger and larger puddles of water were forming behind the sandbags. Achelle was sitting by the window just in case there is an emergency.

A flash of purple light lights a patch encircled by violet flames. Young Achelle stood up and ran outside to check it out. As he neared the flames he noticed that the flames were not dying down from the rain. A shadowy figure elevates from the ground below the ground.

'It is I, Hades himself. I have chosen you to receive the power to become a great adventurer. But the price is what you hold dearest.'

'It's ok. My reasons for becoming an adventurer are to protect my dearest. So I am going to kindly decline your generous offer Lord Hades.'

'Wait are you declining me?' *Starts crying*

'Look, don't cry Lord Hades, I'm sure you will find someone gullible enough to trust you.'

'How about we cut a deal?'

'Look, I am not interested in losing something for power.'

'You're boring you mortal. You are offered power beyond normal human capabilities by a God and turn it down? I don't understand humans these days. Well, you don't have a choice. You will receive power beyond normal human limits in exchange for 1 hour of your logical thinking taken away daily. Meaning you will survive on pure instinct during that hour.

'That doesn't sound that bad.'

'Jesus Christ mortals are so stupid. Well, I shall leave now. You will receive your power as soon as you register as an adventurer. I wish you great luck, young boy.'

The shadowy figure descended back in the ground with his violet flames. A loud thunderous sound that could be heard kilometers away shuddered the very heavens itself. The clouds parted and the wind died down. The glistening stars lit up the sky magnificently.

'Well...That was something.'

Achille walks inside the house and goes to bed.

I love fantasy stories so I thought I should give it a shot.
